  1. I am in the Raleigh-Durham area and the last two years have been a bust for me to get a bag. I don't like to go out on Thanksgiving eve, so I always hit B&B on Friday morning. "Sorry, we sold out last night" is what I have heard, so I am considering breaking my rule this year. Either that, or just break down and order it online. Trouble with that is you can't stack discounts like you can in-store (i make a few smaller purchases to use multiple coupons in one visit to the store; in order to do that online, I have to pay for shipping of multiple shipments, which negates the coupons. I guess I could just order the bag online, and then hit the store Friday am for my other purchases..... Oh, and I have always been able to exchange scents from previous years for something that I like (not on the same shopping trip, but usually my next visit). I otherwise give the items in the bag as gifts to family members. It's a win-win situation for me.
  2. Just placed 2 orders, woop woop 20% still worked (VPSAVE) 1. My Kohls card ($598.01, saved "$1557.66"), will get $165 in Kohls cash 2. My other cc ($105.47, saved "$268.06"), will get $30 (additional) in Kohls cash. Hope this is worth the 3 hours of sleep I'll get now.... Yep. I am sure it will be.
  3. I have the Brother Label maker in my cart - and have tried to check out several times - it comes up that they are out of stock on the item. ???? Out of stock already - and it's not even BF? I wonder if it's "out of stock" until friday. I would order the same thing from Office Depot - but they require spending $25 before free shipping, and it won't allow me to do in-store pick up. Hmmmmm..... really wishing I had gotten the lightening deal from Amazon earlier.
  4. Just to chime in, I posted this in another thread too - Cary,NC -- won't price adjust anything purchased today that goes on sale Friday. I was just there, and asked at Customer Service. The first girl said yes, then another lady, one who seems to have more seniority, butted in and said that they didn't -- she was pretty emphatic, and called BF's sale "Barn Busters" I had to laugh a bit when she called it that.
  5. I was just at Target in Cary, North Carolina (there's only one in Cary). I asked at Customer Service if that store would do price adjustments for items purchased today but that go on sale on Friday. The first lady (pretty new to customer service I think) was emphatic that they did - in fact she said that I had 2 weeks. Then another lady who obviously had worked there a long time interrupted us and said that they weren't honoring the price adjustment policy because they are considered "barn busters" (I had to laugh a little at that term). But long story short, if you buy something today and want to price adjust it on friday (or saturday for that matter), you have to return it and hope that there is stock on the floor to repurchase. They wouldn't let you just return and rebuy.
  6. I dread the idea of going to Walmart for the DS Lite -- although that is the ONE thing that will get me to go there first over any other store. If I can get this at Amazon before BF, it would be EVEN BETTER! Not sure where I will be this BF (at home or at the In-law's -- dh may have to work, need someone to watch the kiddos).

    Belk Black Friday Ad

If Walmart price matches, just be sure to bring in this ad. I have seen these pillow pets @ WM -- going to get 2 for my girls on BF as well. :)
  8. I was just at BJ's Wholesale club (like Costco/Sam's) and they have the 4 pack (I think it was 4?) in stock. Edited to add: Well, I guess I should have ready your entire post. D'oh! You did say that you saw them in stock. I also saw them at Target.
  9. Great idea. I need to get my stuff tomorrow - my DH has to work on BF and I have to watch the kids. I can bring them with me to Target later on Friday to do the adjustment, but I would hate to have to show them what I am getting...
  10. Southern Wake County - Apex - Holly Springs - Fuquay Varina area in North Carolina here. It would be great to meet up - not sure if I can even get out really early since DH has to work and I have the kids this year. I might get my MIL to babysit. Anyway, it would be great to know for this year, or maybe next year... :)
  11. Me too. I am now waiting to see if Walmart can beat this ad. I don't need anything big - no electronics - so we'll see... either way. YAHOO! 2 Weeks til Thanksgiving and Black Friday!!!!
  12. I read somewhere (on a blog elsewhere) that there is a coupon code for $10 for this item (not sure if it still works though) snowhite <-- put that in the coupon code when checking out and it should take $10 off. I haven't done it yet, but I wanted to share the love. Sorry if it doesn't work...
  13. In 2007, I was due the day after BF. All the walking around I did apparently didn't help, as I was induced a week later. :)
  14. I love this magazine - and just recently noticed (as well) at the $3.95/ issue price. I can't recall if I have ever received a bill for this magazine - but I did notice that it seems they come less often now (used to get one every other month to every quarter and now it's probably 2-3x year). I can't bring myself to pay for this, so if they send a bill, I won't renew - although, I thought to get the magazine, all you had to do was subscribe to it online. Has it changed?
  15. Best Buy is the one store I avoid on BF. I can't imagine that spending 2 days in a tent in front of a store is worth saving several hundred dollars on electronics. Now, it would probably be a different story if I didn't have small children to take care of or a full time job to go to. The lines and the crowds are just too much for me. I know some people love it and thrive off of this - and I say, More power to them! :)
  16. I ordered one, and it got cancelled a few hours later. Major bummer. I'll have to let my DH know - since the email will go to him - he might think it's spam. We could totally use the $25 for gifts.... Thanks for the heads up.
  17. I got the Navigon 2100T deal last BF, and it's a pretty good little machine, but to be honest, I don't really care about the "Traffic" updates as they have never affected me (or where I drive). I do like the text to speech - it's really helpful in areas around here that are confusing. I don't know what the POI count is on that one - but they've already offered 2 updates since last Christmas. My only complaint is that the screen is b/w - except for when you come up to a freeway exit (then it's in color). But for $99 last year, I think I got a pretty good deal. I am still holding out to see what other stores offer - Nextar is not my first choice.
  18. Was wondering too - as my sister and I are getting a GPS for our mom for Christmas. She saw the Nextar on sale at Kmart for $99 (after mir) - and I told her to hold off since it's going to be $79 on Thanksgiving day (after mir). Now I am thinking the Staples deal - Tom Tom, I think, might be a better fit. I'd hate to give this as a gift and it not be as good as something else that costs about the same. (I didn't know it only had 1.6m POI) Thanks for clearing that up. :)
  19. I was going to suggest the "name drawing" as well. We have done that in the past for family (Christmas) get-togethers. Also, (someone else already mentioned as well) doing a White Elephant gift exchange can be VERY fun! Everyone brings a gift (determine a certain spending minimum/limit) and everyone bring a wrapped gift with NO name tag. Put it in a pile and for every one who put in a gift, they get to draw a number. The spin my family put on it was that after the first one picked a gift, the second (and subsequent numbers) got to pick, but the 2nd one got to choose either #1's gift or an un-opened gift in the pile. If #2 picked #1's gift, then #1 got to pick another gift from the pile. The rule was that a certain gift could only be traded 3 times before it became off limits. I tell you - this was probably more fun than actually exchanging gifts...
  20. I was in your place last year - I was due the Saturday (the day after BF). I still did go out - but not as early, and didn't hit the stores as much as I had the years before. I did, however, shop online before I went out just to make sure I wouldn't miss out. I was able to get a bunch of deals at Staples before I headed out to shop. Good luck!!!!
  21. I too was WAY preggers on BF last year. I was due the next day (but didn't deliver until Dec 3rd) . I ended up shopping online at Staples.com first (couldn't sleep) then headed to WM at 6 am. Didn't get the "good" stuff at WM, but I also didn't want to have to fight the big crowds for stuff. I made it to Staples afterwards, then I hit 2 more stores. I got a lot accomplished, and not once did I have to worry about my safety. I am SO looking forward to BF this year - sans baby!!!
  22. Normally WM is my first stop. This year I was NOT planning on going b/c of all the legal fuss over the ad. I caved and went - but only got there as they were cutting the black plastic wrap off the pallets. Needless to say, I didn't get the XBox 360 (w/ gift card) that I had wanted. Oh well, I just ordered it off of Amazon when I got home). I did end up getting everything else, and actually did more shopping than I anticipated. My store is a super WM - and it was just recently remodeled, so the electronics section is now in the back. It was a cluster trying to get down the aisle in the back of the store since there were SOOOO many people lined up to get (what ever they were there for - I didn't even bother). They had plenty of other stuff (toys and what-not) -- but it was weird that they didn't have all the doorbuster toys near the toy dept. They had a pallet (smallish) of the Cabbage Patch dolls - in the dairy section ?!?! I am glad I went looking - or I'd have never found them. I ended up checking out (and yes, all lanes were open) at 5:45 and made it to Staples right as they opened.
  23. Thanks for the link. I actually have one of these - so I can save myself some money.
