  1. My Staples is a smaller store, and we didn't have the 42" tv at our location, so I was not about to wait in a line for the smaller items I really wanted. I headed to WM first (they are in the same shopping plaza). At 5:59, I got out of WM, and headed over to Staples - the line of people (prolly 40 people by that time) already had gone in by the time I made it to the store. A few people were scurrying out (prolly headed out to other stores) as I walked in. The lines were HUGE and I had no idea where the few items I wanted (portable hard drive, 4gb flash drive, MP3 players) were, so just asked someone who worked there and they were pleasant enough and pointed me in the right direction. I got to the middle of the store and there was a long table set up with all the door busters, and there were still a few great buys to be had. I got mostly everything I wanted, but when I went to look for MP3 players, I got a little confused. I thought the Omintech MP3 players (advertised on back page) would have been put somewhere with the other deals - but no, they were still hanging on their original shelf tags. I finally found them, and all they had left were 2 (1GB) players so I scooped them up. I didn't have a cart, so I headed to the cart area with my stuff. Just as I got my cart, I must have gotten too close to the door sensor alarm, and I set of one of the alarms on the MP3 players. EVERYONE in line looked at me - and I blurted out "I am not leaving, I am just trying to get a cart." Being 9 months pregnant, I figured nobody would give me a hard time about it... most people just kinda giggled. I made it into line and got to talking with a guy ahead of me. We ended up trading a 4 gb flash drive (I couldn't find them) for one of my MP3 players. All in all, it was a good experience and the people were relatively organized. I didn't go for a TV or other item, so I wouldn't know how they handled it. One last thing. At 3:45 am, before I headed out, I was able to order a lot of Staples DB on line - and I got free shipping. :yup: I only went to the store to get another portable hard drive and MP3 player (well, and the 4gb flash drive) b/c I wasn't able to get a second order in before leaving for WM..... I think Staples gets my favorite BF store award this year....
  2. Ok, so am I dreaming or is it that all the doorbuster items seem to be available online? I haven't ever shopped Staples.com on BF since I was always out and about. It's 2:30am ET now, and the first 2 pages are loading on their deals - but I get that error page on the 3rd page of deals. Hmmmm..... This is my only big "hafta get" stuff store, so if I could just order it all online, I'd be stoked! (Did I mention that I am 9 months pg as of this coming tuesday???)
  3. Well, this is slightly off topic - but I too was looking at the ad here, and saw the 42" LCD tv, and was determined that I would be getting one come BF. Turns out they are only going to have the 32" TVs at my Staples, and I checked about 10 of the others in neighboring zipcodes. Nadda. Now I have to rethink my strategy as well.... ETA - I just checked, and my area ad doesn't have the laptop either. ...
  4. I ordered a Pack-n-Play sheet from Target on the 10th. It was due to my house (at the latest) YESTERDAY. Still hasn't arrived. Luckily I didn't pay for shipping - or I'd be even MORE po'd. I agree tho' - Target shipping is OVERPRICED!!

    32" LCD TV review

Thanks - that link got me the 42" spec sheet too... That's the one I was really interested in but couldn't find the info....
  6. Marcster - thank you SO much for all this effort and energy you have put into this. I still have to read/view all of the reviews on the first page - but I am leaning towards the Navignon 2100. I hope it's not disappointing. We'll see. :)
  7. I got the same exact thing when I went in to look at King sheets. Oh well, I'll just wait til BF. :)
  8. Actually, I got a pretty good deal last year (not on BF though) on a Nikon D50 with 2 lenses and a bonus $50 gift card. With Google checkout, I save a bunch of money. Now, I don't think they have competitive pricing otherwise - but on occasion, they sneak in some decent deals.
  9. 0I got a Sansa e130 2 BF's ago and had to replace it not 1 month later. I got it at Staples, and they were very good about exchanging it. I ended up a few months later getting ANOTHER one - this time I went through Sansa. Same problem - just died for no reason. I haven't used it (the newest one) much - but low and behold - I go to use it today - and it's dead. I am really pissed. I guess I am going to add an MP3 player to my Christmas list....
  10. I saw this deal on another site - and it was suggested that a 10% off coupon from AAA (good at CC) might work with this deal. I haven't tried it - but this might just be a better deal (time wise) than waiting for Staples 32" tv on BF....
  11. 2 years ago, I went to Staples at about 5:30, and was about 10th in line. I don't know if it's just because my town is smaller than the other ones around and that's why there wasn't many more people already waiting (actually, I went to WM first, and walked over after I got what I needed at WM). I wonder, though, if this year will seem different b/c I have a big list of wants from Staples.... Oh dear!

    32" LCD TV review

Not the same EXACT model number, but closest I could find. Here's a review for the BF ad 32" LCD tv. I hope they are comparable... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKBxtujy1j8 ETA - just in case you wanted to look at the user's manual - here it is: http://www.aocdisplay.com/envision/manuals/L32W661.pdf
  13. Originally I had only planned to ask "Santa" for a new lense and flash for my DSLR I got last year - but now that I am seeing these GPS units in the ads, I am beginning to rethink my priorities. I have tried to figure out which ones are listed and do a google search on reviews - but I can't find all of them (as of yet), so I'll just create my shopping list with all of them in it and then do the comparison from there.
  14. Walmart is more convienent to shop at since it's closer to my house than Target - but this year, I believe I'll be going to Target.
  15. I bought 1 for the bows I had to make for my own wedding (bouquets and boutineers - sp? ). Anyway, it worked really well - but I agree, watch the video. I thought that wired ribbon worked MUCH better than unwired ribbon - so you might want to consider that as well. One last thing - you may be able to go to Michaels or AC Moore (or one of those type places) and at the floral arrangement counter there is usually a person who's making something - you could ask her how she makes bows too... (I got mine at AC Moore as well with a 40% coupon)...
  16. Thanks Andrea. I will. I also noticed a dead pixel (I guess that's what you call it) on the screen - It's noticable - but only when the screen is showing a dark image (night time or black when fading between 2 programs or what-not). I most likely will return it telling them that. Here's one other question though. I *may* not be able to actually shop on BF (in the morning) - so what do you all think are the chances of getting a great LCD tv deal around that time?
  17. I love the Easy Rebates through STaples. They are the most hassle-free. I have done others, and for the most part, I have gotten them all. I actually can't remember a rebate that I submitted, that I haven't gotten. Granted, I don't do too many - and I try to stay away from the multiple rebates offers (like BB used to do years back where they'd have their rebates as well as the manu's rebates). Those seemed to be too crazy and there were too many receipts and copies to keep up with. I am hoping that rebates will be kept at a minimum this BF - since most people don't like 'em anyway... :)
  18. Ok, so I caved, and we bought a 19" Memorex (I know, not a great warranty) LCD for the bedroom from Target (was on sale last week). I don't think I got a GREAT deal, but DH was starting to bug me about getting SOMETHING. Here are my consessions though -- I was told that I had 90 days to return it to Target (with original packaging) and I could get a refund. Also, I purchased the 3 yr extended warranty through Target, so if we do decide to keep it, I will have 3 years instead of the measly 90 days that Memorex gives. So, we got it home, and it's tiny in comparison to how the 19" tube tv screen seemed. I don't think I am going to like the 19" - so I am keeping my options open. If they have a 26" or even a 32" LCD (thanks for the heads up jamieva) for a similar price to what I paid for this 19" on BF, then I will switch out. BTW - has anyone purchased an LCD TV from Target (or electronics for that matter) and had to return it (for any reason). How difficult was it? Thanks!
  19. My DD just turned 4 (mid Sept), and I was really wanting this camera for her last Christmas - but I just didn't want to spend the $$$. It looks like it's gotten better and cheaper - so I am glad I waited. Either she'll get it from grandparents or from "Santa" this year. :)
  20. Thanks mimiman76!!! I am off to see which type of TV it is that I want. I am thinking LCD or plasma - but we'll see what the wallet can afford! :)
  21. One other thing - I was just looking through the .pdf file ad from Walmart last year, and I was comparing the LCD tvs. Today's ad had a Vizio 32" LCD HDTV for $597 - last BF, same (type) of TV was $598. I don't think they were the same brand though. Also, the Vizio 42" LCD HDTV in today's ad is $946, and on BF, the advertised 42" LCD TV was $988. I wonder if technology has just improved THAT much in less than a year, or if Vizio is a piece of cr@p.
  22. Well, the 20" TV I bought 7 years ago on BF just went out. It might have been the TV, or the terrible thunderstorm that rolled through the area. Funny how only that TV and our cordless phones were affected. No other electronic item(s) were damaged. Hmmmm....
  23. Ok, I am a newbie to this discussion - but could someone direct me to some info on the difference between Plasma and LCD. Also, what is DLP? I assume 1080 is better than 720 - but is it really THAT much more cost prohibitive? We are thinking about getting a new TV for the bedroom - and (crosses fingers) one for the living room. I am the researcher in the family - and I have forbade DH from buying ANY tv until at least we get closer to BF. I just need to study up on what's out there - all we have are analog tvs (our bedroom one died during a lightening storm 2 weeks ago - so that's what causing the interest in a new one). Thanks!
