    Hobby Lobby

    We just got a few Hobby Lobby's in our area in the past year or so, so I've never seen what they do for BF and I also didn't see any ads posted for previous years in the archive. Anyone that has had HL's for a while or shop there know what they do for BF? I'm waiting to buy a large quantity of fabric and crafting supplies but would rather wait to see if they offer something better than only using 1 40% off coupon during regular times. Thanks;
  2. I have to admit that for most white elephant gift exchanges, I usually find something unused around the house or something that I got the year before and didn't like or use and give that, but 99% of the gift exchange parties that we do are the dirty santa kind where it's more in for the fun of it and the "stealing" aspect rather than getting something that someone would actually like and use LOL Depending on the dollar amount and who is participating, things like alcohol or wine is always a big hit or if not, go to pretty much any store around town and they have a lot of boxed gift items for both men and women (or gender neutral ones) and get something from there.
  3. Yep, yep and yep LOL I had (previously) resolved earlier this year to stick to the budget and officially got done shopping a few days ago. Now, all these dang emails keep coming in from the stores and I keep finding other gifs that "would just be perfect for so and so" lol and buy it! Luckily I'm only about $100 over budget so not too bad and I will be traveling for work next week so that certainly cuts down on my time to shop. Now, if I can just avoid the "SUPER SPECIAL SAVINGS" emails
  4. I've bought some stuff online this morning from Petsmart, a small boutique store for my daughter and the soda stream from Target with the free $25 gift card so I don't have to go out tonight, but I'm a bit disappointed and having a hard time shopping more without these stores not offering free shipping. I am wanting to place an order at Justice and Sephora, but refuse to pay in upwards of $8-10 shipping which pretty much negates the discounts when I can just go to the store tomorrow to pick the items up. Luckily still only have a handful of items left to buy, but would really prefer to buy more on my computer today. *sigh*
  5. I don't cook a lot of things ahead of time but I certainly do a lot of prep work. I've already made my desserts, drinks, etc. but everything else is prepped like potatoes peeled and cut, stuffing made put together, turkey in the bag and pan, ready to just turn the oven on, etc. With your meal, I'm sure you could prep the sweet potatoes, green beans, potatoes ahead of time so everything just has to be turned on tomorrow. I don't think that reheated thanksgiving dinner is that appetizing either, so I just do as much of prep work beforehand as possible. If oven space and time is an issue with getting everything cooked, I would err on the side of cooking the green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, gravy and corn ahead of time as those are not dishes that really suffer in quality from being reheated.
  6. Its looking more and more like I may not even have to go out on BF...or if I do, only to 1-2 places. Will head out Thanksgiving night at 8pm just to get a soda stream for a gift and then with the free gift card I'll get myself some leggings and slippers which I need for the upcoming cold season. Otherwise on BF, I may hit Michaels for some Christmas decorations, maybe Petsmart for dog gifts unless I can get it all online on Thanksgiving. Bath & Body Works and Victoria's Secret is still up in the air, but I do know that I don't have a lot of extra $$ to spend on myself so it's just a matter if I can maintain my will power to stay out of the stores and away from the sales or not LOL
  7. I'm trying to figure out whether to order a bunch of things from either Bath & Body Works or the Body Shop, but getting confused with the different deals. I am not loyal to any particular fragrance at either so either would be fine, I just want to shop at the store that will give me the best bang. 1) Bath and Body Works. Buy 3, Get 3 Free. $20 tote with $40 purchase but it seems that we cannot use the free item coupons and/or the $10 off $30 coupons with the tote deal. 2) The Body Shop. 3 items for $30 minus 10% for members. $25 tote with $30 purchase of which also looks like it has more items in it than the B&BW tote. Can more likely make multiple purchases at this store for 2 totes for a cheaper cost than I could do at B&BW. Free shipping at both stores. Any thoughts?
  8. What a cute idea! The only other ones I can think of right now would be a gift card for a candy store ?? in either February (if he doesn't have a girlfriend, add in a valentine card that he is your valentine?) or April where Easter usually falls in (i.e. easter candy, chocolate bunnies, etc.) What month is his birthday? Maybe that month it could be an all about you day, with a gift card to get his hair cut and a gift card either for one of his hobbies or just a generic gift card (prepaid visa type) that he can use on whatever he wants since it would be "his" month. Thats all I can think of right now, but will post again if I come up with any other ideas.
  9. Thanks! I'll just have to watch out for more details and follow the online info and the website. Would be really great if I could get even more off, but not holding my breath lol
  10. Question....for those items in the BF ad that come with a free gift card. Can those usually be ordered online as well? How would that work? Do they just include the free gift card in the box with the item or is it sent a different way? P.S. Not a doorbuster btw. Interested in the soda stream for instance that comes with a $25 gift card.
  11. Bwahahahahaaaa!!!!! Kinda shocks me that they would show this on TV, but I thought it was hilarious!!
  12. My own kid is grown, but still have 2 of BFs kids to buy for. Sorry, but I never bought into the making sure each kid has the same amount of gifts or same $$ amount of gifts thing. When the kids are different ages, the gifts are different prices. For my budget however, it's actually coming out to be a lot lower this year than previous years! How it happened not sure lol but everyone is still getting great things and it works out better for me, so I'm happy
  13. Still need to see Bath and Body Works and Victoria's Secret. While we usually know what type of deals they offer, would still really like to see what the exact deal is and what is in the bags to make a final game plan of whether to include them or not. Any ideas of leaked info for these stores yet Brad?
  14. I still love all the corny little Christmas movies like Elf, The Santa Clause, Home Alone, Christmas with the Kranks, Christmas Vacation, etc. but my all time fave is always going to be Miracle on 34th Street.
  15. Toilet brush and cleaner!?!?! Is she volunteering to do the housework now? No weird requests here. Mine is grown at 20 years old and I have a hard enough time even getting her to give me a list, much less anything strange.
  16. I thought this would be a nice idea....I'm always browsing Pinterest for new ideas for the holidays, but it can get so overwhelming that I can literally pass hours browsing that site! LOL So I'd love to see others favorite holiday pins from pinterest! I only have 1 thing saved so far which I want to make: http://www.pinterest.com/pin/282108364131993748/ Since my house and Christmas tree will be beach themed this year with white starfish, blue balls, ribbon, etc. I thought these were adorable! I'm also following the Thanksgiving board, but other than that, would love to see others favorites!
  17. Same with most...the weekend after Thanksgiving....whichever day I can get the SO to go with me as he has the SUV to put the tree in/on. Doing a different theme this year as well so still have to buy the decorations
  18. Only 2 gifts so far...although I only have about 9 people to buy for and some only get 1 gift or so. The things that I bought I only got because 1 was from ebay so I purchased it before the prices start to go up as it gets closer to Christmas and the other was because I had a coupon for the store that I bought it from. Looking forward to getting most things done on BF...if I can wait that long LOL
  19. Does he drive? Anything for his car? How about sports? Tickets to a sports game, or sports accessories? DVDs? I know a lot of younger adults even like things like gift certificates to things like racing events or those ride along racing type activities? I know it's a hard age to buy for. My DD is 20 years old too and doesn't have any idea what she wants either.
  20. I'm having a hard time coming up with gift ideas this year. The only thing I have on my list right now is one of those bags/ cases for traveling with all the compartments for taking along toiletries, etc. My mom doesn't have a lot of money since my dad passed away so I won't ask for much from her and my SO got laid off from his job recently, so unless he finds something else soon as well it's really going to be a light Christmas anyway. That's okay...I really enjoy giving more anyway...I can buy myself what I want throughout the year
  21. I gave up years ago in trying to get any door busters on BF. I'm from the old school of BF shopping where we could get in line about 2-3 am and still get door busters but as it got more and more popular with people lining up days before then it's just not worth it anymore. I do still go out on BF but later in the morning after waking up at a normal time. So, stores opening on Thanksgiving don't really affect me although I do feel bad for the employees and consider it just a sign of greed from the store's end.
  22. One more gift to buy then I'm done. I cannot wait just to see my daughters and boyfriends face this year. Both of them are getting iPads and I don't think either suspect it so it will be a nice surprise. I want to enjoy the season, but I'm also excited for Christmas morning to hurry up and get here so I can give the gifts out! lol
  23. Thanks! I was waiting for a deal to get as a gift and even with shipping, this one was a better value than a lot of the other specials they have and even in my local store. Another gift checked off the list!
  24. Just 2 orders. Charm bracelet and a few starter charms for my daughter from Amazon Bottle of perfume for my grandmother from Ulta but got some freebies for myself too. The glass decanter and wine glasses and the free sample bag free with the purchase. Did some other window shopping, but did not buy yet. Nearly done shopping for others, now just have to resist on buying stuff for myself lol
