I saw some Disney stuff in the dollar general Christmas isle. Don't remember what it was for sure but I'm thinking pens or pencils or a Christmas tree ornaments.

We ate a situation where 1 credit card is too many. I told my dh if I see any mire credit cards in my house I'm going to shoot that person. We are on our 3rd time paying these things off and I refuse to make it a fourth.

I do 24 hours no sleep a lot since I work nights. It's more normal to sleep during the day.

What about doing it an old fashioned Christmas. Stringing popcorn simple decorations if there is snow sledding hot chocolate. If its not cold toast marshmallows and drink hot chocolate by the grill made up like a fire place. Sounds a little corny but she would remember it. As my kids get older I find it isn't the elaborate they remember it's the simple things. That's true even in my case.

The youngest any of mine went was around 14 and then it was to line sit initially. My middle one went 1 year with me and ds went last year. Usually their job is to find a few things or cart or line sit while I run. We shouldn't have much to get this year on black Friday so although will probably still go shouldn't be too bad.

My mil gives everyone money for thanksgiving on thanksgiving day and that is Christmas money. I usually know what the kids need and spend that money plus some from my mom and sister and then spend what we would get. This way the kids get what they need I get to shop until I drop and they get to save money too. It's been that way for a long time now.

We just found out strong likelihood that dd will have surgery before Christmas for reconstructing a rotator cuff. I would guess overall probably the same amount as last year Nd definately already looking for the most bang for my buck.

I pick up things all year long when on good sales like stocking stuffers etc.

I so agree with this- and definately with the economy news being what it has been I think we will see a lot more of the buyers being cautious on purchasing. I just hope we see some good prices on the ipods but not too good too soon- I don't have the money to buy them just yet.

I have the iphone and have had mine since release for verizon in Feb. I have to say not much difference except I also have the phone and the ipod. I have a reasonable number of aps on mine and its a 16 gb and still has 5 gb left. What I'm wondering is how the ipod compares to the smaller netbook touches that are out there. Any input from ipod and netbook touch users... I'm hoping to get some ipod touches for some teenagers for Christmas but if the netbook touches do the same thing then may go with that. I will say though- really like the iphone... probably just going to go with the ipod touches since I know and understand that technology.

That sounds like fun. Will have to watch for the info.

I would say Walmart PERIOD was insane. We were mainly after clothing and it was crazy as all get out! I seriously almost said "This isn't worth it." I don't know that I would do this again. I have BF shopped for years less the last 2 mainly because of financial situations. Anyhow this was the craziest that I have seen it and I have done this in at least 4 differant cities. Just not sure it was worth it. Will definately think twice before doing it again.

I had one that I had purchased used up in Rapid and it didn't work. They said as long as I had the receipt I could return it to any Game stop. They couldn't guarantee to have the same used game of coarse but they did work hard at bringing it in from another store. It worked out well just save the receipt- they extended that weeks period at least a couple years ago for the holidays.

Now Walmart is feeding into my emotions and helping me feel better about the economy making me miss "the event." Now missing BF because of the economy- THAT tore me up- missing an event is just like sleeping through a Monday or something like that.

Its probably been 5 years since I shopped at a Walmart on BF that wasn't a super-center so the line thing isn't a big thing for me either. Now I have a motto that I don't go after the electronics items that day either. I have gone for DVD players, DVD-R's, camcorders, cameras but not the big TV's etc. This year I plan on not shopping period- although I will admit having 2 girls that are getting ready to enter the world on their own the $3-$5 small appliances is something that I'm chomping at the bit a little. Time will tell though.

I think it may play a very small roll in decreased spending however I think the effects of the economy, unemployment, housing crisis etc will play a HUGE roll in what happens BF. My prediction- more violent shoppers due to feeling despirate. (See my post on thie discussion re: I'm not going shopping BF- heres why- any comments)

I don't think I'm going to the regular store for BF this year. 1. Money is too tight to spend really any money and I'm too afraid will overspend. 2. If my money is this tight many others are in the same situation- not really that fond of getting trompled, shot or stabbed all for the thrill of the hunt. 3. If I do go to BF I might hit the thrift stores that day- but may just stay at home and watch football with the family. 4. The regifting and thrift stores will be my main option this year since our budget besides 2 big items for 2 of the kids will be probably $500 or less. Already told husband that the money his mom gives us for Christmas will all have to go towards the kids. Might try to get him a coffeepot but outside of that- realistically necessities and the smallest Christmas in history for our family is what we are looking at.

As I posted in the working thread last year I had to work black friday and was unable to shop. I did shop online and got some deals that I wouldn't have gotten had I shopped in the stores. These are stores I simply won't go to until later in the day.

Husband lost his job this past year which for us was 2 spells of unemployment in less than a year. There are just other things that need our attention. My kids will have a Christmas it just will be differant than other years. Lots of dollar store goodies and necessities with maybe one big thing.

I don't have to work Black Friday this year but I did have to work last year. I got my deals online some as early as 2 am on Thanksgiving morning. They were delivered in plenty of time for Christmas. I also had my mother do some shopping for me. This year I am seriously thinking of doing the sleeping thing or just going to crowd watch. Money is tight with my husband having lost his job this past year for the second consecutive year. There are more important things that we need and the kids need. If not I have a feeling I will be looking only for specific things. I may get something for the schools to give for the post-prom parties. (2 daughters- 2 differant schools and this year since 1 is a junior and 1 is a senior we get 2 post prom parties that we have to help out with.) Thinking about those cheap microwaves that seem to come out every year around Christmas. Just not sure though- will depend how money holds out.

The BOGO isn't until 7 am EST online. I know- I was a little bummed too. I have to be to work without internet access exactly at that time. Too bad it couldn't be 6 am EST.

Some of the items are available now online for BF prices. The DS guitar hero is- I ended up backing off though but got quite a ways through the checkout process. Looked like some of the games were also available online. Hope this helps someone out there.

Got almost everything that I was after. Great idea. Glad I found this out this year the year before I have to buy a computer.

So is this what this particular website can be expected to face over the next day- a pretty white screen? Just wondering was hoping to pick up a couple games for ds for Christmas, and a couple computer games too.
