    Gander Mountain

In the past has Gander Mountain ever had any good sales on bf?
  2. If there is an ATSC tuner for under $50 i'll be looking at that. Hard to say if any of those products are for this holiday season though.
  3. This is in reality more likely a list of toys manufacturers agreed to deep discounts on and WM wants to drive sales of.
  4. I'm coming from Canada. SO our desination of choice this year is about 200mi.
  5. We usually head over fairly late on Thursday to avoid border waits. Usually by about 9:30-10 there isn't usually a very long wait. Done this at border crossings in Quebec and southern Ontario. ANd you're right about this site. Made it really a lot easier for us to pick which area we wanted to go and stay in and which stores to hit.
  6. I never consider a MIR a "great" deal. Very few of them end up being simple or fast.
  7. Completely agree. But even selling on ebay probably won't get you a good enough return on you time. You're better off working 8 hours on friday at a fast food joint. Better return on your investment.
  8. I'm guessing there will be quite a few mid to lower end items this year. With retailers like WM and BB trying to jump start spending.
  9. We usually start later than most. Usually i'm not looking for any of the big ticket items. So we can get out there around 7 and still get most stuff we want. We generally stay out till dinner. Then if we're up for it go out again after.

    Movies/CD's

It may be on sale. But it definately won't be a door buster price. High School Musical 1 would be a good candidate for a door buster type price.
  11. I didn't even hit Walmart till Saturday last year when i came down and i still coulda got most of what was in their flyers. It's usually one of the last places I and many that i know hit.

    Movies/CD's

From recent years it appears to be big hits that are a few (2-3) years old. The same goes with tv series.
  13. I was watching the news and they were talking to the tourism director for the Buffalo region and he was saying that currently the niagara/buffalo airport and the Walden Galleria are reporting that 30-40% of their customers in the past couple weeks are Canadian. Those #'s are staggering. I can imagine they'll only go up the closer we get to the holiday season. Especially on weekends.
  14. Started up a thread last year. Just interested to see how many Canadians head down to the states for BF. I've done it for a few years now and was able to come away with some great deals. Now with the dollar at par. Or who know... maybe more by November, some of the deals will be just crazy for us Canucks heading south. I'll be heading to either Buffalo, NY area or Glens Falls, NY area. Haven't quite decided yet. Where will you be going and what are you looking forward to?
  15. Anyone heard anything?
  16. You said he likes fishing and doesn't really have the time. If finances allow why not look into a weekend fishing trip for him. My Aunt did this for my Uncle and he loved it.
  17. I have a brochure somewhere around here. When i find it i'll post the info. But i believe the duties are attached to specific items not just to the total spent.
  18. Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo..... Sorry flashback to the worst summer vacation roadtrip of my youth. Nothing like hanging out in a giant christmas orniment store in the middle of the summer.
  19. They're usually quite leinient if you keep it under $50... and they usually let groceries go as many are duty free because of free trade. But yes they can stick you with duty if they like. The worst duty is on alcohol. It can be anywhere from an extra 30-45% in duty on top of what you paid.
  20. Like everyone is sying just keep watering it. I also put a bit of liquid plant food in the water. Not sure if it actually helps but never had a dying tree so not gonna stop now.
  21. 1. I'm heading to the buffalo/niagara falls area. 2. With the Canadian dollar as high as it is now you can get good deals even with the exchange on alot of purchases. There are some things that are generally still cheaper at home though. CDs for example. Canadian pay amoung the lowest prices for cds in the world. As long as you know the prices at home you'll be able to spot the deals. 3. As for duty. 24 hours you can bring back $50 duty free per person. (24 hours is counted in days though, wierd. So you can go over at 11pm and come back the next morning and it counts as 24 hours. 48 hours you can bring back $250 duty free per person. If you do end up paying duty it really does make many of these deals not worth while.
  22. I wouldn't say thats true. The price part is true. But the DVD cams are definately the worst. DV is still the best though.
  23. Love it. Yum. One of the best parts of christmas. Especially with a nice topping of marzipan.
  24. Little Ceasers up here(Montreal) does $5 pizzas everyday which is great if you're in a rush and just need something cheap. But nothing beats making you're own. I love to bbq up my toppings. Chicken, peppers, onions. Get them all smokie. Yum.
  25. Personally i would avoid DVD Cams. They're great for just shooting video and popping it right in a player. But if you plan on doing any editing of the video i would pick one that uses DV tapes or has a hard drive. Of the two DV tapes are probably cheaper and still the best digital solution.
