  1. Those dolls are creepy. They look part alien and part ugly baby! They were orginally from the 70's and brought back in the 90's. They were recalled in 90's because if the food was cleaned properly from the stomach they started to grow worms in the belly or smelled so disguting they had to be thrown away.
  2. Oh yeah I thought of another one and this annoys me any time I am shopping. People who just stop walking right in front of you. This happens a lot in the mall. I get stuck behind a big group and then they just stop dead with no warning and don't even move out of the way. Like I wanna walk right up your behind!!!
  3. I notice that a lot of people say they price match items at different stores. I am just wondering if in some ways this backfires on us. If you take a Target sales ad to Walmart to price match items, then Walmart is getting your business when in truth they aren't the ones who have the better deals. Maybe if we gave our business only to the stores with the best deals then the other stores would be encouraged to offer better BF prices the following year. Does that make any sense? LOL
  4. I agree with everyone else! Grumpy shoppers who try to kill my holiday shopping buzz. I am in the holiday mood. If ya don't want to wait in long lines and deal with the crowds then stay home. Also, people spot save and line cut. Oh and the one thing I haven't seen anyone mention is whiny little kids or ones who run around the store in the way. BF isn't the best day to bring a little one to the store. Your 3 year old does not want to be dragged out at 2 am in the cold then taken to a hot over crowded store!
  5. I would try Walmart. I just saw the Allysen and the Amanda doll at my local Walmart for $69 which is cheaper than Target.
  6. I had a Christmas party for my Stepdaughter and her friends a few years ago. I made a giant snowman from poster board. I made paper carrots and we played Pin the Nose on Frosty. I also broke the girls into two groups. I filled two bowels with cotton balls. Then I smeared some Vaseline on their chins. One girl from each time went up against each other. They had crawl to the bowl and dip their faces into it to make a Santa beard. After all of the girls had a chance I counted all of the cotton balls on each team. The team with the most cotton balls won a prize.
  7. I like the LED lights. Like some of the other people I am not too crazy about the white ones. LED lights are much more energy efficient and they don't get hot to the touch. They even make LED spotlights. According to this website you could run a LED spotlight year round for only about $4.00. http://www.thinkgeek.com/clearance/7aa8/
  8. I completely agree with you. My parents never made us go anywhere for Christmas. They didn't even make us visit relatives until the day after Christmas. Our grandparents always came to see us on Christmas day. They didn't feel that it was right to make a child be away from home for Christmas. You are in a difficult position because it is already paid for. It seems your inlaws just kind of steam rolled you. If you voice your opinion you risk making them mad and then everyone will be miserable the whole trip. But if you don't say anything you will be miserable and it could cause problems between you and you husband. I think you should definitely talk to your husband. Let him know how you feel and remember that it isn't his fault. Then maybe you can both face your in laws. It wouldn't be right if he makes you do that alone. Good luck with it! I hope it all works out.
  9. I just found out that I am expecting my first baby. My 1st trimester should end on BF! I am not sure if I will go shopping or not. I really want to but it depends on how I am feeling by then. Right now I feel like I need a nap every few hours! I hope I can go because I have been really looking forward to it, but I am looking forward to this baby even more and that comes first.
  10. Presents first, breakfast later!
  11. I know not everyone celebrates Christmas, but the stores all play Christmas music. I wouldn't stop someone from playing Hannukah music or something near me in line. It is a festive time of the year.
  12. Well, they can't be thinking you're too crazy because they are also there! BF is fun, don't worry about what other people think.
  13. I had thought about maybe getting some good baby deals or maternity clothes deals, but I am afraid it is too early to shop for baby yet. I am only about 8 weeks. I don't want to jinx it. Maybe after we go to the Dr. I will feel differently.
  14. Thanks! I am so excited. I already started thinking about the fact that next year I will have a baby to shop for on BF!!! Daddy can babysit.
  15. Well, Bah Humbug to that lady! Why would you go out CHRISTMAS shopping if ya don't wanna hear Christmas music???!!! I say get into the spirit or stay home.
  16. Up until 2 days ago BF was on my mind more than I'd care to admit! But now I have something else to think about. I just found out that I am pregnant! Now I am not sure I want to go out on BF. I am not sure I want to deal with all the hectic mess. I guess I will decide as it gets closer.
  17. Oh yeah, steel toes shoes may not be a bad idea if you have them. They are great for protecting your toes from getting run over by shopping carts or from getting stepped on.
  18. I love those Hallmark cards. :)
  19. Do you have any friends who may want any items on BF? If so maybe you could make a deal...you watch my kids and I will grab the items you need! Having them sit in car might be dangerous and the younger ones would probably drive your oldest nuts because they are bored.
  20. I get the ads Thanksgiving Day (though I usually know what to expect thanks to this site!). I don't really look at them until after dinner because once I pick them up I am hooked. In the evening I spread them out on the floor and start making a list. I also compare the ads to what I have found on the net. My best friend comes over and she makes her list. We compare what we each want and where we need to go. Then we come up with our game plan. We usually try to sleep for a few hours. Oh, and I always make sure I take a shower that night so I don't have to waste that time in the morning! We hit Wawa for coffee and muffins and then on to the first store!
  21. My parent's 30th anniversary passed this summer. We did have a party for them. I was stuck on the whole gift idea too because it seems like everything is for 25th or 50th anniversaries. My parents had a whole box of photos from their wedding and of my brother and I as we grew up. I went through all of them and selected the best ones and turned them into a computer slide show. If they don't have a computer or if you don't have access to the pics than you could try something else. Maybe book a romantic weekend for them at a bed and breakfast. Fill a basket with wine, wine glasses, cheese, cheese knife, crackers and a gift card for a favorite restaurant.
  22. So true! My life will go on if I don't obtain all of the things I am shopping for. I am not going to become violent just to buy a cheap toaster or something like that. For me BF is a nice day to just relax with my best friend and step daughter. It is a girl's day out!
  23. Teachers really do appreciate all of the gifts they receive. We do receive a lot of the same stuff though. Last year I received 4 candles and 6 bottles of lotion! I think gift cards are a great gift whether they are for the teacher to use personally or to use for the classroom. Gift cards for a teacher's store, Walmart, Target, or a dollar store are always well spent! The average teacher spends about $500 of his or her personal money each year for school purposes. Some teachers spend significantly more so we definitely appreciate the practicality of gift cards! To be honest though, the best gift I received last year still hangs on my refridgerator. One of the students in my class drew a picture of me with the heading "Best Teacher EVER!!!" It brought tears to my eyes!
  24. I want DH to help wrap gifts this year without complaining. Does he really think I fall for the "But they look so much prettier when you do it" line? He must think I'm an idiot!
  25. I think they are usually the sales that end early in the day. Most stores seems to end early bird sale sometime between 10am-12. After that the items are no longer sold for the sale price.
