  1. When my kids were small, there are six of them, lol, I was lucky and didn't have to take them out. They got to stay in their nice, warm beds and by the time they woke up, I was finished. If I had not had someone to watch them, I probably would have taken them with me, as money was tight and I was trying to give them a nice Christmas. I am not going to judge anyone on this. My kids are now older and they do go with me on BF. Parenting is one of those things that everyone has different views on. I don't feel as though taking them out on BF is child abuse, I just feel that as a parent one must be extra careful anytime there are large crowds of people.
  2. My biggest pet peeve would have to be the people who walk into WM at 5am and are actually ticked off that so many people are already in the store and have their buggies full. I mean, seriously, it's a 24 hour store, who waits until 5am to get there????
  3. I LOVE this contest!LOL Butterfinger Cake one box German chocolate cake mix one can sweetened condensed milk one bottle Smucker's caramel ice cream topping small bowl of Cool Whip 4 regular size Butterfinger bars one cup chopped pecans Make cake mix according to directions. As soon as cake comes out of the oven, poke holes in it and pour sweetened condensed milk over the top. Pour half of the bottle of ice cream topping over the top of the cake. Allow cake to completely cool. Spread Cool Whip over the top of the cake. Top with crushed candy bars, pecans, and remaining ice cream topping. Serve cold.
  4. Dang, this is a hard one...I can read a book a day when I am off work, lol. I have to say that my all time favorite would have to be... 1.A Kingdom of Dreams by Judith McNaught(who is my favorite author by the way) I would absolutely LOVE this one. One can NEVER have too many books, lol.
  5. BF 2008...went to WM with my Mom and kids, looked around, started getting items I would PM. Visited with quite a few aquaintances. Hubby stayed home because he just couldn't see himself being as crazy as us who get out and shop at that time of night, lol. He couldn't sleep so he decided he would come out to WM and see what all of the fuss was about. Around 2am the kids were getting hungry so he said he would go and get them something and bring it back. Some people standing close to us heard him and asked if he would pick them up something, too. By the time he got all of the orders together, he was making a food run for about twenty shoppers and two employees. He still doesn't see what all of the fuss is about, but he said he definitely doesn't want to go through that again, lol.
  6. Well, I wish I could say that I am suprised, but...lol. This has become quite a little habit with WM. Oh, well, that just means that their ad is probably floating around out there somewhere now, or is about to be, so it's getting closer to BF!!!
  7. I did win one of the contests last year, but I'm not sure which one. I love my shirt and it was quite a "hit" last BF!
  8. I asked at our WM and as of right now, they say they have no plans for the use of a "ticket system". It certainly would make things easier and safer. WM is always a zoo on BF.
  9. I am also needing two laptops this year. DDs 17, and 15 are wanting them for Christmas. They will mainly use these for Facebook, Myspace, and such, as they will be getting better ones when they graduate and they have laptops provided by the school for schoolwork while they are still in high school.
  10. WalMart, JCPenney's, Bath&Body Works, Hasting's, Belk, Beall's, sometimes Sear's, Big Lot's
  11. I hope the fact that the retailers are contacting Brad earlier this year means we will have a great BF, however, I plan to make the most of it either way.
  12. walkie talkies money ads Our WM is open 24 hrs., so no need to camp, but I do pull a chair from sporting goods and have a seat if I am going to be in there all night or waiting in line for something. If the line is in electronics department, they will usually put different movies on all night so we at least have some entertainment, lol.
  13. 1. In my opinion, Wal-Mart had the best ad in 2008...why? Simple, they pm. I don't have Target, Best Buy, or other stores near me, so, I just take the ads and get what I need at one place. 2. My advice to someone who is new to BF would be, be safe and have fun. I have been doing BF for many, many years, and there are a few simple rules I have made for myself, and anyone shopping with me. Be polite to others, even when they are being..., well, you get the meaning. Be as prepared as possible. Mainly, laugh alot and make new friends. 3. Besides offering great deals, a store can get me there by simply being prepared for the unexpected and to make sure that employees are polite and helpful.
  14. I watch Christmas movies all year long. What I have been watching lately would be... Christmas Vacation The Family Stone Shrek The Halls Home Alone The Polar Express
  15. Me, my Mom, and my three oldest who are 20, 16, and 15.
  16. Our offices will be closed, so I won't have to work on BF, thankfully!
  17. Hopefully some great deals on tv's, video games for the boys, and laptops for the girls.
  18. I voted "slightly more" because I just got a promotion at work, but who knows? That could change before BF. I am just praying that it doesn't.
  19. I am so happy to see this! There's no better time to start thinking of BF than July in Texas when it's 100+ degrees. I was just telling the co-workers I can't wait for Fall...Texas high school football Friday nights, cooler weather, and BF!!! No way is this too early.
  20. sorry they cancelled your order. good thing you got an extra in case.
  21. The WM ads for us were in our local paper Thursday and at the store, being handed out at the door on Wednesday.
  22. After much thought and consideration, I feel that online sales are the ONLY way to make sure beyond a doubt that something like this doesn't happen again. However, there are still those out there without computers/internet who wouldn't have the oppurtunity to shop at all if that were the case. While I would feel bad for them, nothing like this should ever happen and no sale is worth a human life. I have been shopping on BF for many years and I have noticed that, in our area at least, each year is worse. A couple of years ago, the same year as the $398 laptop deal at WM, my Mom was standing at the pallet for portable dvd players. When the plastic came off of the pallet she grabbed one and started handing them back to others after she got one for herself, still she was knocked to the floor and my DD14 had to help her back to her feet, as no one else would. This year our store started bringing pallets out early and let people take what they wanted as they came out. In years past, when they did this, everything was orderly and calm. This year there was still a commotion and people were pushing and shoving. I have decided that Mom has NO business going anymore and I will either get the things she wants myself, or show her that online shopping is thhe way to go. For the past three years I have taken my teens and DS20. After seeing how bad things are getting, I don't think they will be going anymore either. As far as the talk about unions and such, my husband is a member of the union at the company he works for. They do wonderful things for them and we are happy to be a part of it. However, I don't see how a union could have prevented this tragedy, though. Maybe I am just not seeing it.
