Wow, that's alot of Christmas movies, lol. Most of my favorites are already there, with the exception of "The Family Stone". I love Diane Keaton and Craig T. Nelson and this movie made my favorite's list the first time I saw it.

Live Black Friday Webcast & Chat - Would you participate and watch?
Gporter34 replied to bigjimslade's topic in 2010
I think it's a great idea and if the time was when I am off work, I would love to participate. Of course, there's no BIG stores in my area, the biggest is Wal-Mart, but it would be fun! -
I think it's good that they are being nice about it.

Photo 1: "Ah, thanks for saving me a seat!" Photo 2: "Bob, this was a great idea. I can't think of a better way to kill time while the wives shop." Photo 3: "Sorry, people. Employees called in sick and this store will not be opening. Thank you, come again."

Half Price Books 10/11...

Their letter has actually become part of the BF tradition. It wouldn't seem like BF without a threat from Wally World!

I love sewing and crafting, when I have the time. Hopefully I will find the time to make some of these.

For anyone who hasn't tried this recipe, you really should.

Thanks Kandy! That's the one!
-
I do believe that was the one, lol. It was so easy and good.

How many years have you been Black Friday-ing it?
Gporter34 replied to ChristmasShopping's topic in 2010
I started going in the early 80's when KMart had their pillows every year, lol. I have been doing this many years now and still love every minute of it. -
A few years ago Kandy posted a recipe for a pie that was awesome. I lost the recipe but it was so easy and I would love to make it again. I usually make the same old things but I have been thinking about trying something new.

I stopped buying teacher gifts a while back. I had five in school at the same time and the older ones all had 6-8 teachers each. It is not feasible to buy that many teachers gift cards or whatever so I just send a card to each one. As the older two have graduated now, I just continue because it's easier than trying to figure out what each teacher likes and does not like. Anyway, it's the thought that counts, right, and I let each one know how much they are appreciated.

I have never had any problems pm'ing at WM on BF. Our WM pm's all store within a 100 mile radius. I take all of the ads with me and make sure that I am careful about times and special packaging at other stores. They are very particular about things like that.

How many people do you buy for for Christmas?
Gporter34 replied to ChristmasShopping's topic in 2010
I will be buying for approx. 20 people this year. -
I will probably put fast food gc's in stockings.
-
I always set a budget and then do not stick to it. I am going to try and do better this year. Hopefully I can because my budget is a little tighter this year.

Black Friday Product Comparison Charts (Updated for 2010)
Gporter34 replied to stationchief's topic in 2010
Thanks! I really appreciate you taking the time to do this for us. I am always buying electronics and such but know nothing really about comparing them, just get the one the kids say they want, and the one I can afford, etc... So, once again, thank you so much! -
I am so happy that the countdown has begun. This is my most favorite time of year! Fall breezes, leaves falling, football games, pumpkins, and BF! There is No better time, lol!
-
My favorite store every year is WM, not because of their sale, but because I can pm so many other stores that we do not have here.
-
The 20" bikes go on sale every year on BF, I think. Not sure about anything bigger, although, I seem to recall a mountain bike or two in recent years in the WM ads.
-
I am up about 4am Thanksgiving morning to cook. Then, eat, watch the game, go over ads with my Mom and kids. Around 6pm I go make a quick trip to WM and ask around about how my store is going to do things. They seem to change at least a few things every year. After that, maybe home to catch a nap. We have a 24 hour store and hopefully I don't need to be there until midnight or after. The great part being that at least we are waiting inside the store and not outside. I am almost ALWAYS in the checkout line by 3am. I need to be at least the first or second in line to get out of there ahead of the crowd in the store and on the parking lot. I then head over to the other stores, B&BW, JCPenney, Belk, Beall's, Hasting's, etc. Then, it's time to sit down, have breakfast, talk for a little while, and then go home. I wrap everything and put it under the tree, and then I go to bed!!! Hopefully I sleep all day, lol.

What do you take out with you on Black Friday?
Gporter34 replied to ChristmasShopping's topic in 2010
We only have a WalMart and a few other stores, nothing big. But, I talked with our manager at our WM and was told that my store will PM any store ad in a 100 mile radius. That made the difference for me because we have a town about 75 miles away that has just about every kind of store there is, lol. -
