  1. After I left TRU I heard that there was a fistfight between 2 women. Rockford is amazing, people try to show up at the last minute and rush the lines, Target & TRU have security but people try to it anyways. Menards lets people do it, if I wasn't shopping there I would film it, I've written to the headquarters, called the store and written to the newspaper with absolutely no luck. Until someone gets hurt... And I've heard the one in the next town is organized and way better, the manager here in Rockford just doesn't care about his employees or the customers getting hurt.
  2. I JUST WANT TO WARN ANYBODY THAT POSTS IN THIS THREAD THAT YOUR CHILDREN MAY READ THIS! - It happened a couple years ago, but someone on here posted in a thread similar to this one and one of her children read it and went and found his gifts. So proceed with caution if you have teenage children.
  3. Stores keep opening earlier & earlier, they never go back to an later time. Won't be long before stores are just open on Thanksgiving day all day.
  4. If you buy it now and it costs less at the end of the month you can buy another one and return the one you bought now.
  5. Where are you at where there isn't many people out at 5am on Black Friday?

    Halloween

You can pre-make ginger bread houses (out of milk cartons & graham crackers) and kids can decorate them with candy-corn and other Halloween candies and make haunted houses (it's way easier if you have the houses made ahead of time), you can use black icing instead of white. I just went to my kids school at lunchtime and garbage picked a few milk cartons.
  7. It's a little too expensive for me, especially for a brand that I've never heard of.
  8. My daughter went to $1 flip flops at Old Navy about 2 years ago, she's almost 11 now, and got smooshed & shoved... A chain of grocery stores was closing last week and I went there and I took her and my 12 yr old son with. It was definitely packed and chaotic and long lines to pay... kind of like black friday. While we were waiting in the line to pay my son said "if this is what black friday is like I never want to go with you" and then my daughter said that she remembers Old Navy and people grabbing shoes and if they were not their size they were just throwing them over their shoulders. She was like 8 then and she remembers that, I had forgotten about that until she mentioned it. She will be prepared by the time I start taking her with me on bf!
  9. I never heard of it either before all of the Target hoopla. Both stores here still have a rack with odds & ends (& returns?) left.
  10. feel sorry for someone that started pushing over merchandise in a store & could have hurt someone or broke stuff in the store? ummm, no stores are chaotic enough without idiots making it worse, and people incited her? she's not 3 years old

  13. everyone that I know that has a bunn thinks it is the best coffee maker ever and says they will never go back to any other brand
  14. We try to give the kids the same number of packages so that they can each open the same number of presents. I have wrapped more than 1 thing together or separated something into 2 presents to make the number even. Everybody opens 1 present at a time. They are close in age so they usually get a few of the same gifts, and if 1 gets an electronic we tend to get the other one some kind of electronic also or if 1 gets something really big we hunt for something really big for the other one. I don't try to make the money we spend exactly even and the amount of presents isn't exactly even, only the number of packages they each open.
  15. A coffee gift basket or some other type of gift basket. That is a always a nice gift for an executive. Do you know anything about her? A chocolate gift basket or a coffee basket is usually a good choice. If she already has a pod coffee maker she probably wouldn't need another one. Here's a couple ideas for you: http://www.amazon.com/Starbucks-Coffee-Tazo-Tea-Collection/dp/B002Q6WX10/ref=sr_1_2?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1317093341&sr=1-2 http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41noA4BIauL._SL500_AA300_.jpg http://www.amazon.com/Starbucks-Sonata-Mixed-Gift-Basket/dp/B00408GN40/ref=sr_1_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1317093341&sr=1-1 http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51VMRcL3UvL._SL500_AA300_.jpg
  16. there was barely anything at mine on clearance yesterday
  17. If your husband doesn't want to participate why can't you still decorate 1 room, can' he just stay out of that room? How about doing christmas his way one year and then your way the next, and switch back and forth.
  18. I heard that "rumor" last week. But they wouldn't just make more of them to sell to employees, but just offer them to employees first before the sell them to the public.
  19. I kept forgetting to look, been there like 5 times in the last week and finally remembered to look today (probably cause I walked right by it). I just wanted to see what all the hoopla is all about. Some of the stuff I saw online was cute but I don't think that zig-zag will look good on every body type.
  20. I was just at target and they had a 2 sided rack with some stuff still left, limited sizes and some things they only had 1 or 2 left. I wonder if it will start filling up with returns...
  21. Do you know if she has one already or not? Many people have them in their homes, if so the coffee would be a nice gift. If she really likes coffee a coffee gift basket from Starbucks or somewhere would be a nice gift. A travel mug, a few bags of coffee, a $5 or $10 Starbucks gift certificate would make a great gift for an executive / VP.
  22. It's still a little too early for that kind of stuff to be out. (Fall officially starts in like 2 days) I'd guess that it will all be out after Halloween / the beginning of November, but you will probably start to see some in October. Sounds like maybe the websites may be getting ready to put the stuff up soon, most stores don't have that stuff on their website all year unless it's in stock so they are probably preparing for this season. If you look in the beginning of November you should have no problems finding something.
  23. I don't think those are the "high-end" ones the op is talking about, those are little mini ones. I understood the question as - can she get one of those nice full sized Keurig machines for $50. I'd hate for her to get one of those mini ones thinking it was the full sized one. I don't know if I'd give a refurbished gift to a VP especially when she won't consider a Mr Coffee.
  24. I got my son a netbook from Target last year that was just over $100 and it still works fine & connects to the internet, for $300 you can get a cheap laptop.
