  1. Now today the blue shelf is $122 and the red one is $167.
  2. I'm not knocking Amazon at all, I love it. I'm a Prime member and besides the grocery store it's where I spend most of my discretionary income. However, before purchasing any lightning deal I take advantage of the 15 minute window to do two things: #1 I go to the item page itself just to make sure there isn't another option/color that isn't even cheaper or more of a preference than the one offered on the lightning deal. This is an example I just came across and was the catalyst for this thread: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0050JQQOU/ref=gb1h_tit_c-2_6282_04897946?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_t=701&pf_rd_s=center-new-2&pf_rd_r=15FHN4SBPJYXEKQRD4GT&pf_rd_i=20&pf_rd_p=1980506282 You'll see the red option is the "lightning deal" but if you click on the blue option it's like a dollar less, but you would never know that if you didn't go to the product's page. #2 I google the item to see if the lighting deal price is, in fact actually a "deal". I considered getting this for my husband, but then when I googled I saw they had it at a few stores for the same price as the "Lightning Deal" of $69. The main page says $89, but if you are reading this very soon after I post it you might still be able to find it listed in the deals. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JB8OW42/ref=gb1h_tit_c-2_6282_8766605a?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_t=701&pf_rd_s=center-new-2&pf_rd_r=1S3SES6S4ZPSP0W80287&pf_rd_i=20&pf_rd_p=1980506282 I'm sure others have mentioned these issues before, but I felt they were worth bring up again. I hate to see people spend money thinking they are getting a deal when they aren't
  3. Weird, the discount shows up in my checkout cart for some items, but not others. There is no way to know which things will work without attempting to check out.
  4. I claimed it yesterday, but I can't find the link to the qualifying items.
  5. I have been wanting a Keurig for a few years now, but was waiting for a super deal. I'm glad I waited though, because besides the cups being pricey and environmentally unfriendly, everyone I know who has gotten one had theirs crap out after a year or so. I decided to go old school, since my ultimate love is for capuccino and my counter space is limited along with my budget. I got this for $20 from Amazon. Cafe Bustelo is less than $4 a can and the brew is actually shorter than your average coffee maker. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CNY6UK/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i01 and this for frothing: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006C3CEQC/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i02 I'm not trying to poop on your thread. I think these really are great deals, but I just thought I would help out any people out there like me who coveted a Keurig, but still couldn't afford/justify the expense or don't have the counter space even on a great sale, but still would like to find a way to give themselves or their loved ones a special treat to make delicious coffees or lattes. For example, I LOVE pumpkin spice lattes. So, I got this stove top espresso maker ($20), frother ($10), espresso grind coffee ($3.50), and a container of McCormick Pumpkin Pie spice ($5). I have been having 2-4 lattes a day for almost a month now and by the looks of it, the coffee won't run out for another month and the spice will probably last me 6 months to a year I'm guessing. Oh, and I just thought it would be worth mentioning that I lived with an ex-bf who was from Naples for 7 years and this is what his mother used to make espresso, along with the majority of Italians. I have been to Italy and had espresso there. Hopefully this will help out any people out there like the ones I described above.
  6. Once enough people start falling asleep at the wheel during this midnight opening nonsense to cause a noticable amount of accidents the local governments will more than likely step in and put a stop to them. Unfortunately, a number of people will need to die in those accidents first before that happens.
  7. Well, at least people can start getting trampled earlier this year...lol
  8. Those things actually matter. No one is going to die if they can't get their BF bargains. Also, people in those professions are compensated quite differently than someone working in retail with no benefits thanks to these past few decades of union busting.
  9. One other suggestion I could make for the OP's dilemma, depending on the circumstances you could just get one for more $ and tell him you found a deal for $50 (that is, if you have the means to pay the difference yourself). I have been in similar situations with close family members and had to resort to this...lol but if it were me in this specific case I would take the other suggestions about the gift baskets...
