  1. Any idea what time they become available on Turkey Day? Does that include door buster items? Do they honor coupon codes on T-day or BF? Hmm... Will they honor coupon codes for free shipping, if there are any current ones available on T-day and BF?
  2. :::nodding::: I find the Wal-Mart door busters tnd to not be available ahead of time, as they are usually the item under wrap on pallets. But, the items I hope to price match from other stores are the ones I put on lay-a-way. Now, if I get a pallet door buster, do I have to pay for them during door buster hours, or can I go on line at lay-a-way and pay for everything at once, even if I don't get to the lay-a-way cashier until after 10:00 AM?
  3. When does Kmart's Thanksgiving Day Sale ad come out in the papers? I'm hoping if there's anything I want to price match at the 24 hour Wal-Mart Superenter that's open all day Thanksgiving. We're at FIL's for the weekend, getting ready in case Wilma comes a bit further north, so I stopped and asked at Cutomer Service if this Wal-Mart will be closing at all for Thanksgiving. I was told they are open 24/7, except for Chr-tmas, so no worries on lining up outside here.
  4. Right! I only have one Target locally, then next nearest one is 45 miles away. With gas prices being what they are, it would really have to be a good deal for me to drive nearly 100 miles round trip for a deal. Anyway, my Target seems to mark things down slower as well. This can come in handy, as many of the items seem to be forgotten about by those who read Target clearance message boards by the time they reach 50% off (about three weeks to a month later), so I don't have to rush right out for fear of competition after reading about a deal. I usually do anyway, but that's because I'll take any excuse to Perimeter Peruse Target.
  5. I am so looking forward to our Wal-Mart SuperCenter finally being built just so I can pm groceries in one place. Now, if only they doubled coupons, I'd be ecstatic!
  6. If I was sick, if my car didn't start, if there is absolutely nothing I want in the ads, or... ::sigh::: If yet another hurricane hits Florida near FIL's (three interesected in his town last year)...
  7. I regift all the time, if I never open up the packaging of the item and it is something I don't want but the person I am giving it to would appreciate it.
  8. Thanks for posting this, I was just going to ask this very thing! The nearest K-mart is about 30 miles away from the Wal-Mart near FIL. When would I find the K-mart ad in the paper to bring into Wal-Mart to price match?
  9. I would love a thread on selling in ebay, as i hope to start selling some items soon. Hints on the best way to price items, how long to have bidding open, reasonable s&h charges, etc. I'll be happy to start a thread, but which forum would a thread like that be appropriate in?
  10. Tuesday or Thursday is best for me. M & W I have karate training until 8:00 PM, and then we have dinner and do Beorn's bed routine. F I go to religious services and Erev Shabbes dinner. S & S always have something going on.
  11. I too am cooking and celebrating on Thanksgiving. But, Paul (dh) will occasionally go look for a deal for me on Thanksgiving if I can find one he's interested in.
  12. I've posted a whole tutorial for Perimeter Perusing at Target in the thread at http://forums.gottadeal.com/showthread.php?t=14835. One of the things included is a seasonal/holiday clearance markdown schedule for Target clearance.
  13. Is that for everything that a competitor has listed on sale, or only on appiances?
  14. When a store displays items for sale, there are usually wooden platforms that the items are stacked up on. Sometimes in very creative shapes. Those wooden platforms are called pallets, and we are referring to the entire display of sale items when we refer to pallets on this thread. Wal-Mart wraps the entire display and unwraps as the blitz/door buster items go on sale at 6:00 AM. By hidden we mean that they'll set up a display of items in a department you don't expect. Such as turkey fryers over in Electronics, or some such. And since at a lot of Wal-Marts you can't see what is under the plastic wrap, you have to go ona search for the items you want to grab as soon as they are unwrapped and are on sale. So, the 'pallets' are 'hidden.'
  15. Hmm... Last year, the Wal-Mart SuperCenter I shop on Black Friday was open by 4:00 AM. They let us line up next to the pallet we wanted an item from as soon as they unwrapped the plastic off of them. But, they didn't unwrap the plastic until door buster time.
  16. Hmmm, since I didn't buy a new one, I can't say offhand. I seem to remember the package was a bit more square shaped, whereas the one I got was more a tall rectangle. I think the newer leveler was made a little more compact as well, so the model number itself may be different. But, since the one I found scanned for $12.22, be sure to write downt he UPC number, as I'm sure that will be different from the one that will scan $49.99.
  17. While I get excited about the deals, the rush to bring on the season in the stores drives me crazy. Chr-stmas Carols on October 1st? Noooo!!!!
  18. Elena, same here with Beorn, my 12 year old son. Are there any new hot outdoor use products this year? Like rollerblades or the Razor scooter was when they first came out?
  19. Found on an end cap by hand tools in Target today: BDL110S - BullsEye Laser Level Stud Sensor by Black & Decker Orange clearance sticker said original price $48.89 ---> 30% off at $34.22. Scanned at 75% off for $12.22. Paul (dh) has his first Hannukkah present, as long as he doesn't find it! There was a newer packaged version of the same thing on the aisle selling for full price of $49.99. The one I got has a UPC of: 028877487199. The numbers that printed on the receipt (I always forget what those are called) are 085060538.
  20. When I have the time and cash, I could easily be in Target everyday. But generally I'm not. If there's something I really want, I refer to the UPC list I linked above, and the department markdown schedule, and go check on the item on the day it's department is supposed to be marked down.
  21. I can understand that. So many people think giving one gift for both Chr-stmas and an end of the year birthday suffices. I say, no way!! But other than that, who else takes down there decorations quickly after Chr-stmas? As a Jew, I don't decorate at home, but as a child we had Roman Catholic neighbors who always invited my sister and me to their house for what they called 'Little Chr-stmas,' around January 6th, Three Kings Day I think. To my Jewish eyes, it was a complete celebration of Chr-stmas all over again! Tree, stockings, presents, festive dinner, the works! Then the tree came down starting the next day. Does anyone here do anything similar? I can't imagine keeping a tree fresh that long. If I remember correctly, their tree was brought home the Sunday before Chr-stmas, and decorated during the week. But, no lights were put on until after sunset on Chr-stmas Eve.
