  1. The leftovers is the best part, IMO. It's why I always want to host.
  2. I prepare two Thanksgiving dinners. Since I am the activities programmer for the apartment complex (we refer to it as the 'Village') I live in, I cook Thanksgiving dinner for our complex the Friday before Thanksgiving. This year our sister Village has construction going on in their Commons Room, so instead of cooking for 100 people, I'll most likely be cooking for at least 200. I only prepare the turkey (usually two 9-lb. smoked turkeys from Sam's Club, two 15 lb. deep fried turkeys, and one 20 lb. oven roasted turkey), the gravy, and baked potatoes. The rest is supposed to be pot-luck, but it's very diffcult to get the residents to bring anything. We also provide soft drinks. For our family Thanksgiving meal we travel to FIL's about three hours away. Beorn is off starting Wednesday this year, so we can drive down Tuesday night, I can shop, and start cooking on Wednesday. My menu pretty much stays the same, but I do mix a few things up. I'll start planning my menu after Yom Kippur, and will post what I'm considering at that time.
  3. Beorn did wonderful, and it did go really well. I started a thread about it in the Parents and Kids sub-forum of the lounge. My main write-up about it is at The Simha!
  4. What are your plans this year? Do you host or travel? Do you experiment, or is the meal set in stone? I would love to see your plans and share recipes!
  5. The bar mitzvah is over and I'm now back! And, I'll no longer be avoiding Target as much as I as when I was saving every penny to pay for the bar mitzvah. So, I hope to be a more active part of this thread again.
  6. I can't make out the section numbers on the floor of the Jacksonville Arena, but I think I'm front center section, 7th row, right off an aisle. It says section F2, row 7, seats 1 & 2. psiu helped convince me to talk to Paul about getting tickets at MSG while we were visiting MIL last year. I know a Jacksonville, FL show won't compare to seeing them play in their home city. But, we had to leave early to catch the bus home, and I am looking forward to seeing a whole show this time. Thanks again, psiu!
  7. Hey all. While I plan to regroup and refocus myself during this hectic week by reading the boards, I expect it will be either very early in the mornings or late at night that I do so. I may be too tired to post replies. Please know my good wishes and thoughts for calm beginnings to the school year for those starting up this week will be with you. And for finding great deals! See you on the flip side of the Bar Mitzvah!!
  8. :::hoping to have a professional portrait taken of him in his suit and tallis::: I'll post if/when it happens!
  9. I never made it to Dillards. We walked into the JC Penneys 75% off clearance and found a $300 Haggar suit in Beorn's size (only the pants needed hemmng) for $75.00 Dress shirts were $8.00. We bought him three. And we also got him a nice tweed sport jacket for $40.00
  10. Thanks all! I think that's going to be in the plan this evening then. Does anyone know how Dillard's clearance suits would compare to the least expensive somewhat nice suit at Mens Wearhouse?
  11. Thanks! Unfortunately, Beorn's about 5'10" tall and 200 lbs. I don't think I'll find anything in the boys department for him.
  12. Does Dillards put any mens suits on clearance? Beorn and I need to go shopping for his Bar Mitzvah suit...
  13. ECBs are CVS 'Extra Care Bucks.' They're coupons good for the amount stated that's generated on your receipt when you buy certain items or whatever is required. The ECBs are valid on future purchases. CVS uses those scan cards to give you their sale prices. If you don't sign up for one of their cards, you supposedly don't ge the sale price. But generally the cashier has a card specifically to scan for those who don't have their own. Unlike Walgreens, CVS also takes part in the Upromise program. Again, you use your scan card to have the merchandise you buy get credited.
  14. I got Paul the Black and Decker version (I think it's called the Bull's Eye?) last year on clearnace at Target for around $12.xx. He has a grand time with that thing.
  15. http://kevinswatch.ihugny.com/phpBB2/images/smiles/goodpost.gif Ditto, what she said. Mazel Tov!!
  16. Why? I use the button that takes me to unread posts, or click on the last page listed if the button isn't showing, to take me to the most recent posts. The ~*~Newbie Guide~*~ is the very first post in this thread, so anyone can refer someone back to it by telling them to go to the first post if they don't have the link. If we start a new thread a link would be necessary, or the person would have to search the forum for this thread. What is the point in restarting?
  17. What does 1337 status mean? Other than the number of posts? I know OMG, what's ZOMG?
  18. Oh, I know that. Just too lazy to do it myself this early.
  19. Just curious if anyone compared it to last year's ad?
  20. I'm pretty sure both tables are part of the 75% off Toys department markdown.
  21. MY husband hates my 'gift closet' of Target clearance items, until it's time to actually dig out a gift!
