Perimeter Perusing at Target (Target Clearance Deals) - 2005-06
Gator Pam replied to Gator Pam's topic in Offline Hot Deals
Welcome to the GottaDeal.com forums, both of you! Have either of you read the very first post in this thread? The one I refer to as the *~*~*Newbie Guide*~*~*? It tries to explain the basic concpt of Perimeter Perusing at Target. -
Do they show the polar bear Coke commercials at Chr-stmas every year? For some reason, I only seem to see them during the Winter Olympics. Or is it that they only introduce new ones during the Winter Olympics?

I am so glad you enjoyed it, Melissa!! Are you going to do a repeat, or try one of the others this year? Thanks misshayley! These sound easy and good. Do you think I could do an overnight rise in the refrigerator?

Welcome to the GottaDeal.com forums! You did great for a newbie, or even an experienced Perimeter Peruser. Spread the word about this site among your bargain hunting friends. -
I'm Jewish, but we celebrate Chr-stmas with my FIL, since my husband wasn't born Jewish. We stick to a tradition I learned from my neighbors growing up, who were Roman Catholic. We decorate the week before Chr-stmas, turn on the tree lights for the first time on Chr-stmas Eve, and leave the decorations up through Three Kings Day (Epiphany), January 6th. We even have a second smaller celebration, with shoes left out for the Three Kings to fill and a nice dinner.

Perimeter Perusing at Target (Target Clearance Deals) - 2005-06

Welcome to the GottaDeal.com forums!! It's a list generated automatically by posts like this one on another forum by posters all over the country. I posted a link to their Target-specific thread earlier today in this thread at #2149. Not all items will go down at the same time, but generally an item that goes clearance at one Target will eventually go clearance at all of the others as it is a corporate wide decision to discontinue carrying them. So having the UPC or DPCI helps the perimeter peruser know if they are scanning the correct item. Sometimes an item with the same model number as new stock goes clearance because the packaging changed, or some such. My particular Target tends to run about two weeks to a month behind the ones that first get posted as having mark downs. At first this frustrated me, as I would run out right away when I read that something I wanted was found on clearance by a poster and didn't see it. But, once I learned how my Target's schedule works, I now prefer it, as I can stalk the item on the days that department is due to be marked down per the schedule posted in the Newbie Guide. HTH!! -
I think that was a Super Bowl commercial. But, it was one of my favorites this year! My favorite Chr-stmas commercial isn't shown all that much anymore, so the "Peter!" Folgers has filled it's place. But I really liked the one with a claymation Santa sledding down a hill on the Norelco electric razor.

Shredded potatoes. They're usually mounded into hot oil and pan fried until browned and crispy of each side. It's most often a breakfast side dish, but is very similar to potato pancakes without the binder. On my way over there!

becca, the dpci or upc of an item on the upc list is only added if the poster who lists it on that forum's message board posts it using the code they have implemented. However, many of the items are posted there with the UPC and DPCI listed, but the poster doesn't do the code right so it doesn't get generated on the list. The link above is to a thread on another deal site's message forum. I didn't share it in the past because I felt it is direct competition to GottaDeal.com. Please delete if it is inappropriate here. -

This lines up with what I remember. One Spot/SSS going 75% on a Thursday. I believe Hallowe'en clearance will go 75% off on Saturday, and then whatever is left will go 90% off or salvage on Tuesday. -
Depends on where you live. Some posters from Wisconsin say that it is a law in their state that items can not be sold below cost as loss leaders. So, the laptops are $200 more in Wisconsin at least.

Any word on if Wal-Mart will have the Wii?

Supposedly. I've seen leftover t.v.s from BF at Wal-Mart that was still selling for the blitz price a week or more later.

Thanks Linda! I looked before I saw your post and didn't see any silver colored Seal-a-Meals, but that doesn't mean it won't suddenly appear from the back room in the next few days. -

I'm pretty sure this will be long gone from my Target, but which model is it? -
Here's the crockpot stuffed turkey breast recipe i mentioned earlier. Crockpot Stuffed Turkey Breast Yield: 8 Servings 1/4 c Butter; melted 1 sm Onion; finely chopped 1/2 c Celery; finely chopped 2 1/2 oz Bacon croutons 1 c Chicken bouillon 1 tb Parsley, fresh; minced 1/2 ts Poultry seasoning 1 Turkey breast, whole -uncooked Salt; to taste Pepper; to taste Cheesecloth (about 24x36" -for each turkey breast) Wine, white, dry Combine butter, onion, celery, croutons, bouillon, parsley, and poultry seasoning. Cut turkey breast in thick slices, from breastbone to rib cage, leaving slices attached to bone. Sprinkle turkey with salt and pepper. Soak cheesecloth in wine. Set turkey on cheesecloth. Stuff bread mixture into slits of turkey. Fold one end of cheesecloth over other to cover meat. Place on metal rack or trivet in slow-cooking pot. Cover pot and cook on low for 7 to 9 hours or until tender. Pour additional wine over turkey during cooking. Remove from pot and take cheesecloth off immediately. If browner breast is preferred, remove from pot and brown in 400 degree oven for 15 to 20 minutes. Let stand 10 min. Drippings may be thickened for gravy if desired. Serve each person one or more thick slices of turkey with dressing in between. This recipe designed for 4 1/2 qt or larger slow cooking pot.

:::waving at Tati::: I greeted you in the announce yourself, or returning members thread. I hope you saw my reply. For me, Thanksgiving is all about the leftovers, so even if you cook a small bone-in turkey breast, you'll have some leftovers to make some wonderful meals with. Do you have an oval crockpot? I have a terrific stuffed turkey breast recipe for the crockpot is you want it. Then, fix whichever side dishes you enjoy and have some pumpkin or sweet potato pie, and your meal is all set. But, even if you can't do that, find the time to quietly contemplate all your reasons to be thankful. You can write them down, or just meditate on them. That is the true way to commemorate and celebrate this holiday.

I think the items we have been finding in small appliances may be stuff that has been hidden away in the back room. I still can't find a model number on the Chefmate microwave, but the manufacture date is 2005. In today's turnover, that's a pretty old model. So I think finding these items will be pretty hit or miss. We're also entering a pretty slow period for Target clearance, until after the holidays. Although if it hasn't gone clearance yet, the dorm/new apartment themed stuff in domestics should be going pretty soon. Keep an eye on those kitchen in a box and such sets. I bought one for $8.74 last year to put away for when Beorn leaves home. And at the time, he was only 12!
