  1. What type of Holiday recipes are you looking for? Baked goods or sweets only? Or do you want entrees, appetizers, cocktails, side dishes, et. al.?
  2. Sometimes the webmaster of that site needs to give it a jumpstart. It should be updated within a week or so.
  3. I don't think the See Spot Save area (formerly The One Spot) works like that. I need to go back and see who it is that explained The One Spot schedule to us, I'm thinking it was RedStateGirl. But basically, if the See Spot Save area follows the same schedule as The One Spot, it goes on clearance about every six weeks or so. Does anyone recall the date of the last time The One Spot went clearance?
  4. to the GottaDeal forums, Neair21. I look forward to hearing about your Target finds. And welcome to everyone else new that I missed while I was working on, and recovering from, Beorn's bar mitzvah. We're glad to have you join us.
  5. Check out Target finds with UPC right before you go to Target. If the item has a UPC on the list, it should scan when you print it out so you can check if it's on clearance at your Target before you even try to hunt it down.
  6. It all depends on when Hanukkah starts. I try to time it so they arrive during the eight day festival.
  7. This is what I was thinking of adding to the back of my two gottadeal.com shirts. I hvae one of each, the old and the new style. But, I am just not crafty, and am still worried it will look cheesy if i do it myself, kwim? Ooo, now this is good!
  8. I really like making my stuffing this way. Keep in mind that it is written for older crockpots though, before the manufacturers raised the base temperature. If you hvae a crockpot bought since 2000, and noticed your food seems to cook faster than the older recipes state, that's because it is cooking faster. So, if you have one of the newer crockpots, plan on cooking it on high for 30 minutes, and then on Low for 4 to 6 hours at the most. Let me know if you try it, and how it goes over. Enjoy!
  9. We go to FIL's Thanksgiving weekend where we know no one else. Paul, Beorn, and FIL have no interest so I always go alone. I love talking deals with the other shoppers while in line, but once the doors open, or the pallets are unveiled, I like being able to go at my on pace. I think it would be nice to have someone to meet up with between stores to share deals with, and to go to breakfast together after. But, that's part of what GottaDeal is all about, sharing your finds!
  10. I keep thinking I'll add the GottaDeal url with my referrer ID on to the back of my t-shirts. But, I'm not sure how to go about adding it without making it look cheesy.
  11. My tickets for the Jacksonville show have been ordered! TSO and the Manheim Steamroller Fresh Aire CD's are my holiday favorites.
  12. Awww, just ask. I'm happy to share! It sounds like a gussied up version of what you're already doing. Vanilla-Glazed Sweet Potatoes Teri, WFD Board Gooseberry Patch, Farmhouse Christmas 3 lbs Sweet Potatoes, Peeled 1/4 cup butter 1/4 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed 1 tsp salt 1 tsp orange zest, grated 1/4 tsp black pepper 3 TBS orange juice 1 TBS vanilla extract 1/2 cup pecans, chopped Boil sweet potatoes in water until tender; drain. Cool slightly, then cut into 1/4-inch slices. Arrange the slices in a greased, broiler proof 13x9-inch baking dish, overlapping slightly. In a small saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Add brown sugar, salt, orange zest, pepper, orange juice and vanilla; stirring until combined. Heat, but do not allow to boil. Remove from heat and brush sauce evenly over potato slices. Broil 6 inches from heat until golden, about 6 to 7 minutes. Sprinkle with pecans. Makes 6 servings. Pam's Notes: I bake my sweet potatoes until tender, instead of boiling. Should they ever come again, or you happen to surprise them with turkey or chicken at another time of year, give this recipe a try. It really is almost as good. Slow Cooker Holiday Stuffing (Pam/Gator Pam) 2 large packages ('more than enough to stuff a 12-14 pound turkey') Pepperidge Farms Herb Seasoned Cubed Stuffing Mix defatted home made vegetable, chicken or turkey stock extra light olive oil chopped onion crushed garlic chopped celery chopped green and red pepper sliced fresh mushrooms additional add ins (optional): chopped nuts simmered giblets, shredded fresh oysters water chestnuts Mix stuffing mix with warm stock, according to package directions. The soup stock is substituted in equivalent amount for the butter/margerine and water liquid suggested. Remember you are making two packages, so double the amount of liquid given on the package for one package. Allow to cool while fixing vegetables. Gently sauté the listed vegetables in the order given in the oil until tender but not colored. You can pick and choose the vegetables you want; these are our preferred mix. Measure out two cups of the sautéd vegetables and mix gently throughout the prepared stuffing. You can also mix in any of the optional additions to your taste. Using an olive oil mister, or non-stick cooking spray, spray the oven safe crockery insert of a 6 quart oval slow cooker (my Hamilton-Beach one is oven safe to 375ºF). Put the stuffing mixture into the insert, place the insert into the slow cooker, cover, and cook on HIGH for 45 minutes. Reduce heat to LOW, and cook for 4 to 8 hours; it is ready after 4 hours but holds well on LOW up to 8 hours. If you have a newer crockpot, say five years old or newer, that cooks hot, you’ll need to adjust the cooking time. Cook on HIGH for 45 minutes; cook on LOW for only an hour, than turn to Keep Warm if you have that setting for three to five hours. My husband has always enjoyed what he calls the stuffing 'crispies', the pieces that falls out of the cooking bird and crisps up while cooking. To mimic these, right before serving take the oven safe insert out of the slow cooker, remove the lid, and put the insert under the broiler for 5 to 10 minutes, until the top of the stuffing browns. I have found the directions for this recipe to work with just about any type of bready stuffing, whether white bread, corn bread, with or without sausage, etc. Try your favorite stuffing recipe, using the cooking method described.
  13. Well said! For a more detailed answer, read the very first post in this thread, a/k/a The Newbie Guide.
  14. I start when the Chr-stmas clearance goes 75% off at places like Target. And I use the Perimeter Perusing at Target thread over in the Offline Deals forum for deals at Target year round.
  15. Mazel tov! His fiance won't be coming this year? Sounds nearly identical to mine, although I do try to add one new item a year. I love true 'stuffing' (cooked in the bird), but FIL is getting up there in age and he worries about possible bacteria. So, I've switched to making 'stuffing' in the crockpot. It's truly just about as good! Does your DH like sweet potatoe casserole? Or a simple baked potato? I've made a Gooseberry Patch recipe for vanilla-glazed sweet potatoes that ere a hit at my house, even though I'm the only one who normally eats sweet potatoes. And, I'm trying to copycat Texas Roadhouse's Loaded Sweet Potato that they serve. It's a baked sweet potato with cinnamon butter, marshmallows, caramel sauce, and roasted pecans (I think). I got everything down but the caramel sauce. I'll probably just try Smuckers jarred caramel topping next time. Mmm...
  16. Well darn! A day late and I still have $25 dollars worth of LB Real Dollars left to use up by tomorrow.
  17. I got a 6' multi-color prelit at CVS after Chr-stmas for $9.00.
  18. Oh, it gets even better. Not only does Target take manufacturers coupons, but if they have a Target coupon out (even ones that you print off their website or the Target coupon generator), you are allowed to stack them on the same item. Even clearance items, unless the coupon specificaly says different on it. Many of us have printed out this email and carry around with us, in case we run into a Target cashier-nazi who doesn't know Target corporate policy. Subj: Inquiry to Target Guest Relations Date: 9/29/03 2:19:01 PM Central Daylight Time From: [email protected] (Target Guest Relations) To: [email protected] Dear Pamela, Thank you for your e-mail regarding Target's acceptance of coupons. Target is a trend retailer that wants to provide you the latest merchandise at the lowest possible prices. We have established our coupon guidelines to treat every guest fairly and consistently. We accept any Target issued coupon or manufacturer's coupon that meets the guidelines written on the coupon. We do not accept coupons from other retailers or coupons for products not carried in our merchandise assortment. All coupons must be valid and presented to the cashier at the time of sale. You may use a Target issued coupon and a manufacturer's coupon for the same item, provided the guidelines do not prevent such a transaction. When the value of a coupon exceeds the selling price of an item, our coupon guidelines allow the selling price of the item to be entered as the coupon amount, and the cashier takes the coupon. We are always looking for ways to make the Target experience better for every guest. Your comments concerning the acceptance of coupons will be made available to the Store Team Leader as well as our Store Operations executives. We value you as our guest and thank you for shopping at Target. Sincerely, Janine O. Target Guest Relations www.target.com Additional note on the above... I have found if the coupon, or combination of coupons is more than the price the item is selling for, that I can buy other items and the total coupon amount ill come off my total order dollar amount, not just the one item. But, only if I still owe some money in the end. Target will not ever give money back at the end of a sales transaction, that I know of. But, you can get really close to free.
  19. Aahhh...I was waiting for someone to say that. Not in this part of the forum, which is strictly for non-BF holiday discussion. So in this area, Thanksgiving Dinner is the Main event, at least until we start talking Chr-stmas and Hanukkah.
  20. :::sigh::: All of the picnic basket sets were gone when I got there. I really wanted 10 of them for teacher's gifts. But, I did get eight of the mini-lava lamps for $1.98 each. So, I'm set for the rest of the year for b'nai mitzvot gifts!
  21. I usually buy milk by the gallon. Unless there's a special, like the one Publix ran a few weeks ago for 99 cents/half gallon, I usually alternate between Walgreens and CVS for around $2.50/gallon. They seem to alternate putting gallons on sale.
  22. Oh, thanks for the heads up! I saw them at 50% off, but $25 each was too expensive for me. If I can find them at 75% off (as low as I expect them to go), I'll buy them for the end-of-the-year teacher gifts. Off to Target in about an hour and hoping I can still find them!
  23. Hasn't Target discontinued door buster anyway? Aren't Target's BF prices good all day?
  24. Here in Gator Town, we have tons of musical events tied into the university. It's great!
  25. In the past, I've only done Wal-Mart as that's the only store close to FIL's. This year I may just try online shopping, it depends on if there are items I feel I have to have in my hand on BF, or if I can take the chance on missing out on the item ith my slow connection. So, I usually leave FIL's for Wal-Mart at 4:00 AM, and generally am back by 9:00 AM.
