  1. Ours was delivered last Saturday. The gas dryer was the issue. Our current set is working fine so it was no big deal.
  2. BTW, last night, I decided to email Lowe's about their price-match policy. We did get the price match but their policy is match + 10%. We were so excited to get the PM that it never occured to me to ask for the 10%. I got a phone call today from the store saying they would issue us a credit my acct for the 10%. A couple hours later, I got a call from Lowes corporate asking if the store had contacted me about my email and if I was satisfied. That is customer service! A great deal just got even better.
  3. I'm not sure what those guys were referring to when they said they were "promos" but Lowes carries these on the floor and has for quite some time. We got the 0% for a year deal as well so we're not paying for them until next November.
  4. We price-matched at Lowes during the Friends and Family Sunday sale. The washer and pedastals are in but the dryer won't be in until mid-January. We have a working set so it's not a huge deal.
  5. We're pretty much finished all our shopping last weekend but could use some new jeans and the vacuum stick they had at Walmart. So, we got up at 4:30, out the door at 4:45. In the Walmart lot at 4:55, walked past all the clowns who were yelling and laughing at us and telling us to go to the back of the line. I looked at a couple of them and said, "gee, you look cold.." Walked into the store 8 minutes later, grabbed 4 pairs of jeans and the vac, walked to the front, first to check out and headed over to Dunkins across the street for a coffee. Enjoyed a nice coffee and bagel until 6 when Lowe's opened up. It's right next to the Walmart. Walked in, picked up the shop vac that was on sale and a couple .99 pointsettas. Checked out and home by 6:30. It's be nice if the bath and body works page would load but if not, I'll survive.
  6. Ok. Does one have to do something to become a VIP or do I just show up?
  7. I can live with that! Thanks.
  8. That washer and dryer is unreal. We're in the market for a new set. I wonder what the price would be with the gas dryer rather than electric....
  9. Well, the one that she has now is going on 8 years old. She basically uses it for appointments and notes to herself etc. The screen finally went on it. So, I guess the easy answer is, a nice base model would do. The models I had been looking at were about $100.
  10. Why thank you. For years, at work, we'd get a big list of kids and employees would choose a child and buy them some things from their wish/needs list. After the first day or so, most of the kids that were left were the older kids. Partly because their wish items tended to be more expensive and party because, I suppose, buying for the younger children is more fun? It made me very sad. Ever since, I pick the older kids. In my discussions with the people at Catholic Charities that run the toy drives, it hasn't changed. The older kids are overlooked.
  11. Awesome! Just picked up 6 for the Christmas toy drive. The older kids will love them and they're often overlooked.
  12. If anyone happens to come across a good deal on a Palm, could you please post it? It's for Christmas so there's no immediate need. Thanks!
  13. I also reported it to the Trust E which had a link on their homepage and got a response saying they would correct it. I just checked their webpage though and the link is gone which leads me to believe they are no longer Trust E certified. My CC company reversed the charges.
  14. I got hit. Try googling "classic closeout bogus charges"
  15. and you won't. contact your credit card company and dispute the charge.
  16. Do a search for classic closeouts and bogus charges. This week, they hit many cards with bogus charges. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22classic+closeouts%22+%2B%22credit+card%22+%2B%22+charge%22
  17. You're right. It's $400 for the next quarter, 3 months. That's less than a month of gas for me and then it's back to the 1%. We average close about $80/month in rewards on the AMEX. The % with Discover is terrible by itself (other than the bonus deals) but the ability to double the rebate through their partners is a real deal. There are places that do not take AMEX. There are lots of places that do not take Discover as well. That's why we have the CITIcard Mastercard.
  18. I used the Discover to take advantage of the 5% quarterly (not monthly) bonus rebates. They drastically limit what you can get on those. For example, the 5% rebate is on gas in July-Sept. They limit that to the first $200 spent. $10 total. This quarter is home stores/hardware store and the limit is $400 which is a little better. I turn the rebates into Lobster Grams for Christmas gifts.
  19. All tire warranties are pro-rated. I dont see what Sears did as wrong. The fact that YOU didn't understand that isn't Sears fault. That said, I wouldn't take my car to Sears for ANYTHING. My favorite Sears story from a many years ago: I was having tires installed and was in the waiting room near the end of the install. I was looking through the window and in the bay closest to me was a car with the hood up and the "technician" kept popping his head up from under the hood and looking at the wall and then back under the hood. I couldn't see what was on the wall that he kept looking at. He did this multiple times. I finally left the waiting room and as I walked into the garage to get my car, I glanced over at the wall to see what the guy kept looking at. On the wall were detailed instructions on how to install a car battery. That was the last time I went to Sears.
  20. You have to spend $6500 before you get get bumped up to this rebate levels. They're lower (1% and .5%) for the first $6500 spent. You also do not get a check. You get a rebate against your bill at the yearly anniversary date. Still a great deal if you charge everything and the no limit is great.
  21. Love Directv. 7 years now, never an issue.
  22. I really think that when it comes to grills, you get what you pay for. Honestly, does anyone really think there is no difference between the stainless grill that cost 2X or 3X what the stainless grills cost at Big Lots or Walmart? Take a magnet to those grills. Magnets will not stick to stainless. They'll certainly stick to those cheaper supposed stainless grills though. They're not stainless. That means they will rust just as any other grill will. My 15 year old Charbroil is one heavy well made grill. I use it 5-6 times a week during the summer and in the winter whenever the weather is nice. It cost over $300 15 years ago. A grill that costs $100-$200 will be junk in a year or two.
  23. I am finally replacing my char-broil. It's going on 15 years old. I've replaced the burner a couple of times. That's it. In fact, it's still solid as a rock. I'm thinking of moving it up to the lake and getting rid of the hand-me-down that I have up there. I'd go with the char-broil.
