Ok, so we see all sorts of charity gift trees - angels - whatever you call them, it usually boils down to the child - or family - giving a basic profile (age and gender) and then sometimes some wishes... We've made charitable work a year round thing in our house, and I am certainly sympathetic to little children having presents to open on Christmas morning... here's my problem with these trees... lately the stuff the kids are asking for are WAY expensive! $50 and up! specific video games, or cell phones... I can't bring myself to do that. I've resorted to ignoring these trees - except for my morbid fascination with reading the requests, and instead give some toys to toys for tots, and the Ronald McDonald House. Occasionally I'll give some mittens to the Governor's Mitten tree (he never has a mitten menorah - and that sounds better!). Do you buy for these types of charities? Do you look for the tags requesting stuff in your price range?

wow - are you going to try to do seperate cards for each faith and guess the faith of the recipient? Or just do a seasons greeting generic card? I'm guessing humor is out, so no merry chanukahmas cards? We get cards from business and I've always wondered if it was worth a companies time... we certainely don't give them any more business - "remember them, they sent the pretty snow scene card!" ya right.

depends on what it is, and who it is for. DS found a glass with the old patriots logo on it for 50 cents at a salvation army and gave it to dad for hannukah last year, it was a favorite presesnt. I'd pick up collectables for someone at a thrift shop, but I prolly wouldn't give used clothes at Xmas...

we have breakfast first... but then again, Hannukah is celebrated at night... so it would be silly to do the lights then eat breakfast...
