  1. why would anyone leave??? of course I'll be here :)
  2. I think this is one of those things where your store will vary...one of my favorite shopping methods to do is be near the registers at our store because they will literally pile up the 'extras' of items where you are only allowed one (if a customer shows up with 2, the cashier piles the extra and only sells the 1). However, I have seen preteens buying items...but noone younger...like I said, each store will vary...
  3. I've given my tickets away before...never even considered selling it...don't think I ever would
  4. You aren't letting anyone down...your health is WAY more important!!!
  5. my map was totally wrong last year too...
  6. Why does everyone keep saying people have a choice on where to work??? The recession is still going on...there are people with Master's degrees who are flipping burgers and working retail. There are NOT a lot of job choices right now Don't get me wrong, I understand the nature of the beast...I was a retail manager for many years, and I worked as a sales associate for several years as well. Black Friday is a non-negotable work day that every retail person must get through or loose their job. However, as the Big Box Stores are changing the typical routine of BF, I do feel the employees have a right to feel a bit disgruntled. For years BF started around 5am, so stores opening at midnight or earlier ARE major changes that DO affect everyone; employee and customer alike. The ONLY way to change this trend is to vote with your wallet, but as I stated above, we are still in a recession and people are struggling. Customers are going to shop during the sales because they need to make their dollar stretch as far as it can...but that doesn't mean they will all like the new hours either peace friends...
  7. I don't work at Target, but I THINK this is because Target has never been open on Thanksgiving before. If you have worked at Target for years, this would be very new and potentially upsetting. If you JUST got hired in at Target, I would bet you were NOT told of the Thanksgiving opening upon hiring because it seems most of these retailers just made this decision recently. I understand there are many occupations where people are required to work on major holidays (there is another thread addressing this), but people in those occupations usually are in high NEED jobs or understood much earlier of the requirement. I used to work retail. Most companies do not care one bit about their associates. The hourly staff is disposable; work them to death and not worry about them is the way a lot of the companies act. If you ask for that day off, it is refused. If you don't show up, you are fired. Retail is hard work for very little pay. Add in how rude many customers can be, ESPECIALLY during BF, it hardly seems worth it....
  8. I got to TRU 2 hours early last year and the line was wrapped all around the building...and their lines inside are notorious for being LONG
  9. Wow....Black Friday 2011...the year of midnight openings for lackluster deals...
  10. Saw the Red Wings Octopus at Target today and I think I saw it at Walmart last week....I really want one, but I do NOT want to pay $30 for a pillow
  11. long sleeve t-shirts or hoodies for those of us who live in COLD areas! shopping bags to cart all our BF goodies home in travel mugs
  12. the chat room finally showed up on my page! WOOHOO
  13. Ok, I'm signed up and ready...but I'm not seeing where to chat...will that open up when the show starts?
  14. I was going to post that!!!! lolol
  15. I always buy some for my hubby, but I can't stand it!!! My twins are allergic to milk and I was told there is a non-dairy egg nog...I searched for a LONG time to find it....they hated it
  16. I HATE rebates too!!! I pass on items when the 'sale' price only means a rebate
  17. I totally agree! We ended up sitting in the mall's food court just waiting for another store to open last year...I dunno if I'm gonna attempt to pull the all-nighter shopping, but it would be much easier if there was a store in the middle time slot for sure!
  18. flannel sheets at 75% off looks good, but considering how insanly awful Kohl's register lines usually are, I'll probably skip this one (maybe online...maybe all my shopping online this year...)
  19. my son asked for a box of meat a couple of years ago....so I bought him a box of steaks!
  20. I'm just glad I don't work retail anymore...those poor employees
  21. HATE it!!! I get up early on Thanksgiving and host dinner, so I really look forward to and NEED some sleep before I go and shop all day! I'm usually in bed around 10pm and up around 3am and then spend the entire day shopping (don't get home until 6 or 7pm). With the midnight openings, I don't sleep and just get too tired to shop I'm not sure I'm going out this year if there are a lot of stores doing midnight openings
  22. 1. the wait for this bathroom is UNREAL!!! 2. only 4 more hours, you can do it! 3. what do you mean this ISN'T Walmart????
  23. I was at the mall this weekend and one of my boys was looking at it, he said it looked a lot like U B Funkies...I am POSITIVE this will be a HOT item this year...pretty thankful my son said he wasn't interested, but those of you who are, I predict a seperate thread for these like we had for Zhu Zhu Pets...it will all of a sudden be impossible to find!
  24. joyfully in line waiting to grab door busters wearing my new shirt
  25. Store cards carry really high interest rates and many studies have proven that people will spend more money when they use a credit card instead of cash. You really have to be honest with yourself about setting a budget, sticking to it, and paying it off quickly. My husband and I started with just a couple of store cards to build our credit andand ended up with NUMEROUS careds and are now working to pay them off...cut the cards up last year. The balances have a way of sneaking up on you if you aren't careful. Just be wise...
