  1. Best Buy and Circuit City.
  2. Since I missed the laptop at BB, I guess my 'do-over' would have been getting to BB earlier.
  3. I don't recall any major B&M retailer that issused a supplemental BF flyer, other than Wal-Mart in 2005, that additionally lowered some of their BF main ad prices. Most regular sale ads have a 6-8 week lead time. For BF I would imagine the lead time is longer. You probably won't see some of this season's 'hot' items in the BF ads (Elmo, Nintendo Wii console, Sony PS3 console, etc.) as the retailers can't guarantee availability. I don't recall the XBox 360 console being listed in any BF ad, although games and accessories for the XBox 360 were listed.
  4. GottaDeal is off to a great start for 2006. Way to go, Brad :)
  5. I always go with my SO. We have official duties. I'm the planner and he's the muscle :)
  6. Depends on where I plan to go first. Last year it was BB and I was in line at 10pm.
  7. The only place I've seen Apple products on sale on BF has been CompUSA.
  8. I was a toy department manager at Woolworth's for 2 years back in the late 70's. Even 30 years ago BF was madness, but working BF then probably can't compare to how it is today...
  9. I just checked a few places. CompUSA & Best Buy online are showing the PSP console (non-bundled) for $199.99. Wal-Mart has it for $199.24. I thought video game console pricing was pretty much at manufacturer's suggested retail, so they really don't have 'sales'. The only time you see a price drop is when the manufacturer reduces their retail, such as when the PS2 price dropped from $179.99 to $149.99, then to $129.99.
  10. Normally the doorbuster/blitz/early bird items are in-store only. If the item is for sale all day BF you *might* find it available online. Items in the ad that are on sale all week can usually be found online. Read the ads carefully and check each retailer to see if the item is listed for sale online. Last year, on Sears Friends & Family night (which was Sunday Nov 13, 2005 from 6pm-9pm), you could order the BF non-doorbuster items online and receive the 10% discount they were offering at the store.
  11. I do a lot of handmade gifts (afghans, Xmas ornaments, etc.) We give to immediate family, extended family and a few friends.
  12. Sounds like that Wal-Mart has their act together!
  13. I'm in the market for a 19" LCD, as well. Hope there are some great deals!
  14. Heh. If we can actually get my SO's brother to go, I think I'm gonna make him a t-shirt that says "Black Friday Virgin".
  15. I don't use layaway so it will not affect my shopping.
  16. Thanks! I agree this will greatly assist those in the computer market this Xmas make a more informed choice.
  17. In 2005, the BB where we were in line limited the quantity of 'ticket' items you could get to 'one ticket per person'. So, if you were there by yourself, at the front of the line, but wanted the laptop and the desktop, or the desktop and the plasma TV, you couldn't get both. I know the BB ad itself limits many of the individual doorbuster items to one per household/customer, so a single person couldn't get 2 laptops or 2 desktops. Wondering if this 'one ticket only' deal was a store specific or area specific policy, or did other BB's across the country have this 'one ticket item per person' policy?
  18. At Thanksgiving dinner, my SO's brother thought we had lost our mind. His exact phrase was "you are totally bonkers". He couldn't understand why anyone would wait in line to buy anything... until Xmas day when I announced that most of the gifts his family received were purchased on BF. We haven't converted them yet to BF shopping, but we're working on it :)
  19. Last piece of furniture I bought on BF was an entertainment center, at K-Mart, in 2002. I think it retailed for $200 and it was on sale for $80. Had to have something to place the 32" TV on, that I had picked up at BB about a half an hour earlier... :)
  20. Will use credit cards on BF, but will pay in full when the bill comes in...
  21. Hmmm... well... to 1995 here Thanks for the links, Ross...
  22. We took Pop Tarts & Breakfast bars to munch on while waiting in line. Once the stores open we make no stops unless it's a store on our list...
  23. Always optimistic. Especially when that one thing you are looking for shows up at a great price...
  24. A friend of mine doesn't have regular credit cards but puts her shopping money on a prepaid Mastercard. This allows her to use it to shop at B&M's and online. Works for her :)
  25. Haven't gone to Big Lots on Thanksgiving yet but would consider it depending on the ad. But I have gone to K-Mart for their Thanksgiving day sale.
