  1. I personally wouldn't send gift cards through the mail with no return address. You'd have no way of knowing if they made it to them. I'd probably go the gift card route - a grocery store one for food and then maybe Walmart or Target with enough money for the parents to get stuff for under the tree. I'd give it to them a few weeks before the holiday along with some homemade treats. I'd probably hide the gift cards underneath the treats so they don't feel funny about it and let them find it later. You are such a good friend.
  2. Phase 10
  3. if you forgot the codes - they are on the site !
  4. sweet! I ordered a bunch of stuff then kicked myself - I always forget to enter thru the mypoints site for the bonus points - ugh ..
  5. I picked up one of these too! It came with a CD/DVD burner and that was pretty much it. The one I picked up for $150.00 did NOT come with a monitor. No problems with our either.
  6. I miss shopping for toys
  7. wow .. I feel really old. I've been doing BF for as long as I can remember .. probably at least 15 years. I found this community from an article in our local paper (the News and Observer - Raleigh NC) a few years ago. I hear one of our radio stations talk about it around mid November too. For me it's the thrill of the crowds and knowing that I got a good deal. I'm a single mom and if I have to stand in line for a few hours to save money AND I get to get more stuff for my kids - hey - I'll do it!
  8. I'll hit the outlet mall at midnight, then move down the road to the 24/7 Walmart to gather up all my items for pricematching. Depending on the time, I'll head over to BestBuy. I'll hit Target sometime that day since they don't really do "doorbusters" anymore and last year I got rainchecks on the items they didn't have. Then to Circuit City. It all depends on timing for me and if my Walmart will price match.
  9. If you don't mind used DVDs .. try Half.com. They are part of Ebay, but you don't bid. It's a fixed price and the condition of the item is shown as well. The better condition the higher the price. I have been using them since their inception and have never had a problem.
  10. It also doesn't help that Tallahasee only has 2 airlines that service it .. without a budget carrier - don't expect it to go down - especially since it's right around Easter.
  11. After buying a few Wii games we didn't really care for - we've decided to start renting games before we buy them. Spending $5.00 to play a game for a week is much better than spending $50.00 to play a game we might not like IMHO.
  12. I shopped BestBuy early on Thanksgiving day last year. Almost everything but some of the door busters were available online. I selected pick up in store and I got my items on Saturday. Definately the way to go unless you want something that is a doorbuster.
  13. Wow - who else is having flashbacks to Dr. Scholls wooden sandals from the 70s that made the same claim?
  14. Kmart has normally had a TV on sale on turkey day (not LCD)
  15. My DD16 and DD12 love MP8. I think it's fun too and I'm way older than they are. There are so many different combos that you won't get bored. WarioWaves is fun too. My girls also love Tony Hawk Skateboard and any type of driving games.
  16. Oh and I've been advised to preorder the Guitar game for Christmas.
  17. My Best Buy had them in stock when I was in there on Saturday. You'd have missed them if you weren't looking. There was a little cardboard sign that said "Wii's in stock" sitting on the floor underneath the Wii games. The nunchucks are used for boxing and I think a few of the games use them too. Keep an eye on Circuit City as they are the only ones who have put the Wii games on sale. I've picked up 3 so far for $39.99 (instead of $49.99). My kids 16 & 12 love Excite Truck too. We've decided that we are going to rent games first before we buy them as we have now bought 3 games that we cannot stand to play (or we're too stupid to figure them out). Definately get a controller for everyone. If you plan on buying the older games thru the Wii channel, you'll need a classic controller. Remember that you can also play Gamecube games on the Wii as well, they are not as expensive - but you have to have separate controllers for them. We love our Wii and we got it almost a year ago.
  18. the shipping will kill you. Was going to order something with the a 10% off code, until I saw that shipping was $45.00.
  19. If you can't find a big enough one at Michael's, then ask your local mall's management office where they got theirs from. I know the BIG ones you're talking about, my parents have one and it's HUGE.
  20. I always ask the person I'm in front of if they mind. By then you should be close friends anyhow. I think someone would mind only if you brought people back with you when you returned from your car.
  21. It might depend on the venue on whether or not you can use ticketmaster. I know for our area, the presale last year and this year was thru LiveNation. When I went to Ticketmaster to get the seating chart, it said the event went on sale October 27th.
  22. well crap. after being in line for 35 minutes I ended up with crappy seats. Oh well, ticket have been purchased. I didn't remember it being so busy last year. I logged on right at 10am and got the 6th row. This year I logged on right at 10am and got stuck in the 2nd section back on the floor - like 30 rows back.
  23. those are broker prices .. they take the presale tickets and jack up the prices.
  24. I've been patiently waiting now for 10 minutes .. ugh
  25. Tickets go on presale tomorrow morning. We ended up 3 rows back on the floor last year - spectacular!!!!
