  1. Save yourself the $9.99 and all the nags from McAfee by using the free versions of either Avira or Avast antivirus. You would have to pay ME a significant sum of money before I would even consider running McAfee on any of my computers.
  2. They must not have been outlet orders because I can't get the code to work on any outlet item.
  3. Didn't work for me on outlet merchandise.
  4. It's not online; it was an in-store special. You have to check your local Walmarts to see if they have any left.
  5. Depends on how many your store is getting but it probably would be a good idea to go early. A friend got the Gateway today since it's already ringing up at the $498 ad price, therefore I wouldn't be surprised if the Acer was also ringing up at the ad price today.
  6. Reportedly it has the AMD Athlon 64 Processor 2650e (512KB L2 cache, 1.6GHz). We'll know for sure Sunday but that sounds right for that price point. They will also have a Gateway with an Intel® Pentium® T3200 Dual-Core Processor (2.00GHz, 667MHz FSB,1MB L2), 4GB memory, and 250 GB drive for $498 so you'll have a choice.
  7. Which ones? I have a Cannon Pixma printer and I'm wondering if it's the same cartridges mine uses. Thanks for any additional info you can provide.
  8. I got one Thanksgiving Day when the store was practically empty. They only had two left so I figured I better get one while it was in stock. It rung up at $197 but I went back the next day at 10am when all the BF madness had died down and they gave me a price adjustment since it was ringing up at $140 Friday.

    $300 laptop

The one they had for $299 two weeks ago had a crappy processor and less memory. The $349 BF laptop is a much better deal.
  10. The Intel processor will run a little cooler also (if generated heat is an important factor for you).
  11. It's been my experience that people don't usually start lining up at OD until around 5am, and even then in rather small numbers compared to Best Buy.
  12. I received an e-mail notification from Amazon a couple of hours ago that my Ice Blue bundle has shipped. I just placed the order this morning and it originally said that these were pre-orders that would ship November 3rd at the earliest, so I'm really surprised that it shipped already.

    $300 laptop

Oh they had them in stock! They were told to say that after corporate realized they wouldn't have any left for Friday if they admitted to customers that the BF doorbuster laptop was in stock.

    $300 laptop

Probably the $279 HP laptop that prematurely showed up on Bestbuy.com yesterday for a short while before Best Buy realized it and changed the price to $849.
  15. I got the Ice Blue (looks more like mint green to me) for my wife because she thinks the ice blue is "prettier", comes with a case, and she hates red. Of course now she wants me to buy her the Mario game as well!
  16. Did you see the Acer Extensa EX4630-4568 on sale for $399? It's available for online ordering now.
  17. It might happen later on, closer to Christmas. Remember they just had a $299 laptop a couple of weeks ago, and $299 would be a reasonable price for this one too.
  18. Pretty crappy processor compared to the other BF laptops in that price range from other retailers. For that price I would expect at least AMD Athlon X2 or Intel Dual Core.

    Laptops

I have to disagree with your assessment. My Lenovo-built ThinkPad T-60 has the same "solid as a tank" feel as my earlier ThinkPads. The T-60's quality and performance has been top-notch and the keyboard is still the best of all my laptops. I have no qualms recommending Lenovo T-Series laptops to family, friends, or business associates. Perhaps is the IdeaPad models you've had problems with.

    Laptops

I agree about the Lenovo laptops, especially the T series. Nothing beats an IBM/Lenovo keyboard!
  21. Very true, but if you could buy her a laptop with a better processor for the same price or less why wouldn't you?
  22. Because there will always be shoppers who don't know the difference between all the different processors on the market and will buy the laptop based on price alone. The ones with the cheaper processors probably have a higher gross margin than the ones with Core2Duos, especially if they're selling for similar prices.
  23. Are you willing to camp out at Best Buy starting on Thanksgiving Day in order to get one the few laptops they'll have at $379? If not, then why wait?
  24. The DS bundles will be $139 at Circuit City on Black Friday, which is cheaper than the Walmart bundles.
