Quick Question: I wouldnt have known the Win CE w/out this thread so TY...a friend is looking at netbooks for her daughter. Is windows 7 starter fully functional? Where she will be able to use it for online (kids) gaming? It isnt like she is looking to play halo or anything...club penguin...webkinz...and similar

I think the most impressive thing I have ever seen a teacher do was last year one of our 3rd grade teachers made a fleece hat/scarf set for each kid. We have LARGE classes (28-31) so was bowled over to see her do this. She even matched the colors to the kids jackets. I told her how impressed I was and she said its for her peace of mind. Would drive her insane to see kids w/out these items so this way she knew they had a set and her class ALWAYS had them on. She mentioned she rarely had a kid lose them because they were always so impressed with the fact someone MADE it just for them. She used the JO-Anns coupons for 50% off a cut and watched for remnants. We have had teachers in the past do books. If you go this way we really enjoy seeing a note wrote in the inside cover. It makes it more special for the kid. Another fav of mine was a teacher made a tag for an ornament that had a poem about when you look at the ornament you will see someone dear to me. It is a must hang on our tree (goes back to that whole made *FOR* kid that they are so impressed w/)

ordered one of each DD is getting a laptop so even if the games are ho-hum for 2$ was a nice add on

I too have been able to PM with very little issues PLUS the last few years WM has put it as their ad campaign that they will be beating OR will pm any other stores for you have more time with family vs running from store to store (remember the ads now?)

The people at photoworks were very polite in response to my inquires about mass orders. Very torn about paying more but having better service. I enjoy artscow products and pricing but CS w/ them can be tough sometimes and wanted to be sure it hadnt gotten worse. Photoworks not having buttons is also worrying me as that is a top seller obviously. Though the luggage tags they offer i think would be a hit to use on the kids swim bags. May end up using 2 different sites which worries me somewhat in keeping organized lol Thanks for the input!

Hello GDers! Its swim team picture time again. Last year we used artcow and were very happy with them. I just wanted to double check that in the year they havent became a pariah site to avoid. Also wanted to double check there isnt some new gem that I dont know about. We order mostly prints but like to offer buttons and some of the "fun" items as well. We use this as a fundraiser but also want to not overtax our parents $$ wise. So like places that are cheap enough we can round up a little to make some profit but that keep our prices reasonable. Suggestions? Thanks in advance!

This last year was a "i dunno" year from DD. We ended up doing a family vacation as her "big" gift. I was torn as I didnt know how it would go over but she loved it. Is there maybe a non-material thing you could do? Lessons they always wanted, a trip they would enjoy, etc

Yes this is. Why you ask? Cause DH's work just got all new laptops and they sold the old ones auction style. We hemmed. We Hawwed. We got the aflac check. We pulled the trigger. Have a used laptop stashed for DD as her big gift. We paid 125$ for it. So of COURSE there will be a better deal on a new one. We only planned to get to her a netbook but this came up and we just didnt want to pass it up and then spend 200$ on a netbook. So when all the GD kids are getting 99$ netbooks you can tell them it wasnt Santa or mom that made it possible but KBsDarling for being impatient LOL

got mine...had a bit of a hassle at store pick up. Before I bought I had emailed CS to make sure Stepmom could pick up(it says you have to show cc) CS emailed me back FAST(within 30 minutes probably) and said as long as I put her name as the mail to/pick up contact I could....yep all sorts of hassle at the store trying to get it despite email print out and stapled to order confirmation email.....UGH I get its a stressful time of year to be in retail but there are some people I swear invite it on themselves.... Its still at stepmoms so havent seen but dad said if i dont want they would be happy to buy it off me so it must be fairly nice LOL
