  1. I am really happy wiht this ad. Did you see the price for Dell Preferred users on the laptop deal? Last year I had 2 computers at the ready to buy a laptop and it was sold out by the time I clicked add to cart. Then I waited awhile, they loaded more, I tried again and those were sold out in a flash. Believe it or not, I got someone on the phone and they sold me one. Do I want to try again this year? At this price I can't see myself passing it up!
  2. The only reason I shop online on Thanksgiving is because that's when the deals come live. If they would wait until Friday I'd be so happy. I don't camp out or go out on Thursday, though. Sometimes my time is worth more than the savings, even if I'm just sleeping. :-)
  3. I only camp out online; I take my laptop to bed and set my alarm to get up and then sit there waiting for sales to go live.
  4. Generally I only buy gifts for others, but I may go to Michaels this year for some deals, although I forget exactly what it is I hoped to get.
  5. I have gotten the Walmart online TV deal several times and been happy for the most part because it had free shipping right to my door. Only one year my TV just went black after 5 months - it was Mother's Day, and I had to spend several hours trying to get Walmart to at least give me some store credit to get another TV. Those online HDTV deals often come with a 'no returns' caveat in the small print.
  6. Hmm, he's 6 - the only reason I'm thinking hold off on the tablet is because what are you going to get when he's 7 or 9? I'd go with handheld game system.
  7. I have needed laptops the past few years with a couple kids in college. I missed some of the best deals from Walmart and Best Buy but still grabbed a goo deal on a Toshiba from Office Max, and last year grabbed a great deal from Dell. I will be looking for a laptop deal this year also since I never know when someone's will crash.
  8. I am against Thanksgiving day openings. I am kind of old school about that stuff, and I feel like it kind of forces me to shop on Thanksgiving in order to grab the good deals instead of just relaxing and enjoying the day. It was better just getting up early Friday and going out or shopping online. Last year I was actually stalking a deal on Wednesday evening when I should have been cooking.
  9. My pet peeve is waiting for online sales and finding out the item I am stalking is in store only. Gees, let me know ahead of time!
  10. I like to be by myself, but my mom will be here this year so she may want to go someplace.
  11. I'd like to see Dell. Last year I got a great laptop deal. Would love to get something similar this year.
  12. Oh please pick me. I've had the year from hell and no money to shop this year :-(
  13. 1. What store do you think will have the best Black Friday ad this year? - I think Best Buy will have the best ad 2. Do you anticipate shopping in stores on Thanksgiving Day, Black Friday, both or neither? - I will shop online and possibly hit a few stores on Friday 3. What time do you think Walmart will begin their Black Friday sale this year (day and time)? Walmart will begin their sale on Thanksgiving at 6pm.
  14. I will use my card. Me, my spouse and my son all got our cards frauded last year at Target and Walmart. But I shop on line so I really don't expect to have problems. The bank said our numbers were stolen in one of those random card blank scams so they never had our cards in the first place.
  15. Office Depot has that Toshiba for $259 I told you about. I bought it last year - it's a good computer and very comparable to the ones you got from Dell except it has 500GB instead of 320.
  16. davephillyj-if it is any consolation, the agent told me it was limited to 1. Don't know if others were successful in getting more than 1. Last year I got the Toshiba from Office Depot and I think they have the same deal this year; it's about $50 more but it was worth it to me to get a nice laptop for under $300. Also you might want to consider tablets for your kids. They have all prices of those; I got a Dell Venue and it is really nice. I think Big Lots even has a tablet and they open at 6am.. yeah, it's a smart tab with the keyboard, case and stand for $75.
  17. Well I had 2 of my Dell computers open desperately trying to get one of these, I had no idea that when it was in my cart the price would reduce at checkout. I tried so many different things and finally I just took a chance on Dell chat and got an agent to place the order for me. I think it helped that I have a Dell account but I don't know. Anyway I got one and now I am done with these online sales for this year. I am glad some of you were able to get one the old fashioned way - by clicking 'Add to cart' lol! That web site must have been slammed! Maybe next year they won't advertise it in every newspaper across the country. Even my 80 year old mother saw that ad . I just can't figure out what to do to get the item the first time I hit enter, because I was seriously on this item. I don't think 2 seconds passed between the item going live BOTH times and me trying to purchase it.
  18. Just checking back in because after I saw the posts that things were going live all the sudden I was able to order the printer I wanted so badly. Then, after all that time waiting hour after hour, I didn't have my security code entered on my account, and I had to dash downstairs to get my wallet and trip over sleeping dogs, try to find the card, dash back up stairs to enter it, what an ordeal! After I got it I crashed until I had to get up this morning. Anyway, just got the email that my printer has shipped! This site is incredible! I don't know how I would get anything I want without it!
  19. What is going on with the online sale? First it said 1am, then 2 am now it is 3am! Is it going to happen or not? I need to get some sleep. I've been refreshing the screen every 30 seconds for almost 2 hours!
  20. I'm waiting for the wireless printer but no luck yet. Should I keep up hope or just forget it?
  21. Last year Best Buy had a laptop that changed price at 2am and THEN it posted 'IN STORE ONLY. Seems like they should let us know beforehand so we don't sit there waiting to order something we can't have.
  22. Brad - what about this? It says it is starting on Wednesday at 6pm EST http://www.dell.com/content/topics/segtopic.aspx/black-friday-deals-sales-online?c=us&l=en&cs=19&dgc=CJ&cid=47997&lid=4279734&acd=10550055-2026489-&ACD=10550055-1418914-&AID=1418914
  23. Is this the same as the 'Dell Home' ad with the $199 laptop for BF? If so, will I be able to order this laptop online on Wednesday evening? Last year I sat online with Best Buy waiting for the BF Fri price to change at about 2 am, and when it finally changed it said 'In store only.' Never said that prior to that minute. i want to avoid that this year.
  24. I want to thank you for this awesome site - this was my 3rd year using it for my shopping. Best Buy - I never shopped at Best Buy during BF sales and never will again. I stayed up until 2 am Thursday watching the Best Buy Lenovo laptop. At about 1:30 the price switched, and at 2am they posted it is an 'in store only' item. Prior to that it said 'coming soon.' They could have posted like Walmart did that the laptop deal was in store only, instead of having people on line at 2 am trying to buy something that never was available. So I went to plan B and set my alarm for 6 am for the Office Max laptop - $249 with additional $50 purchase. I was able to get this deal, and also bought 2 ink cartridges to make the $50 - turns out the on line deal didn't require the extra $50 purchase, but it was too late. I had already bought it. Later I saw the Tday ad and it said the computer was instore only, so I call this a success since I was able to get it on line. I also bought some stuff at Amazon late Thursday, and would buy more but don't want to have to buy $50 more for free shipping. I got some online stuff at Kohls today. Kohls site was down for awhile last night. I haven't set foot in a single store. I really wanted some of the Michaels and Joanne deals but did not feel like venturing out, even for the great deals they advertised. I was very disappointed with Dell's sale; they should have had a deal like Walmart and Best Buy, or at least something under $300. They were sold out of their $299 door buster online the entire week prior to BF. So despite being a former loyal Dell customer, their prices couldn't get me to buy this time.
