I don't have children but I am an adult child who works in healthcare so 23 years ago when I started my first job we had to adjust our Christmas routine. I'm not going to lie, It was crap for me and my mother that first year and so very hard not to be at my grandparents house for the big Christmas Day lunch with all my aunts, uncles and cousins. I know I cried sitting alone in my little apartment with my little Charlie Brown Christmas tree on Christmas Eve. But over the years we have adjusted quite well to having our little immediate family Christmas whenever we have to. Sometimes it's Christmas Day, sometimes Christmas Eve and sometimes a few days before. It all depends on my work schedule. The gathering of all the aunts, uncles, cousins and cousins' families has also gone by the wayside for Christmas Day as all we grandchildren are grown adults living in different cities and states. Unfortunately for you moms out there it's just a natural progression as your children become adults and have their own families that things can't always stay the same at Christmas. It stinks I know. It stinks for your kids too. They may try to act like it doesn't but it most likely does. Like has already been said, it will get easier and easier to celebrate Christmas in a new and different way. I think what Bopeep said about picking a day and having that day be your Christmas Day is a great one. Take that opportunity to make new and fun traditions while keeping some old ones too. Christmas is what you make of it in your heart, no matter the date on the calendar. This is how we look at it in my family now and have for the 23years I've been out of college. And it really is ok now. We have fun together eating our favorite foods and opening gifts, whenever we can, because my mother still spoils my sister and I as if we were still kids. We are still her babies and she loves nothing more than to spoil us with our favorite foods.

ROFL!! Hello, my name is Han and I'm addicted to Kohl's throws. I'd be happy to go to that therapy session. Oh, And I ordered the snowman one for store pickup so that makes 3 this year.
-
Well, much to my surprise 1 of my 3 packages (2 throws) came today. I hadn't even bothered looking at the tracking since the order summary said delivery next week. Now I wonder how many of those throws I'll buy next year! LOL!
-
Made another order for store pickup at 1:30 this morning and got an email at 3 AM saying it was ready for pickup. I didn't even pay attention to the extended store hours posted when I went in Monday to pick up other orders.
-
Wow! I'm jealous of you guys already getting your orders delivered. It takes so long for Kohls delivery down where I am. My big order has been shipped though, and without any cancellations! So wait I will.
-
Yeah, not much there depending on what you need/want but I did order Deadpool blu-ray So, that's one more thing off my list for Thursday shopping. Slowly but surely I'm crossing things off early.
-
Woo hoo! Time to load up again! Love this day.
-
The obligatory Big One throws!!!! Hilarious but so true. I ordered two more for myself! I can't help myself!
-
Was delighted to find yesterday that the Sony Bluetooth speaker in the ad was on sale for the BF price. Another gift marked off the list early.
-
I've done two store pickup orders now and only one item from those orders has been canceled on me. I was just trying to get an extra pair of slippers for myself so no biggie. May get a different style yet while they are so cheap.
-
Got everything on my list and more. Picked up 2 fuzzy throws, 4 bras, 2 pair Cuddl Duds lounge socks, gloves, and for store pickup I got a candy cane pashmina and holiday broach to add to my Senior Tree gift. I just made that store pickup order and 20% code is still working!
-
20% worked and got the KC! Yippee!
-
Alright! I'm ready to go. Everything on my list is still in stock so we shall see what happens when the switch is flipped. Gonna try to get a few hours sleep before the presumed start time. Work starts for me tomorrow at 6 AM CST.

Was hoping to get a Wonder Woman action figure but the one I really want is still unavailable.

Washer and dryer sets - Anyone have any opinions on Kenmore, Samsung, LG?
HanShotFirst replied to schoolboy's topic in 2016
I have the most basic washer and dryer and I wouldn't do it any other way. I've had a Frigidaire washer for 18 years now and still going strong with only 2 small repairs total. I've had to replace the matching Frigidaire dryer and replaced with a Kenmore. It's about 7 years old and no issues. On the flip side, my aunt bought a snazzy new set of front loader Kenmore washer/dryer and had to replace the washer before a year was up. She had nothing but problems with it. My parents have a mid-level Kenmore washer/dryer set (Oasis I think) and love them and have had them for years with no issues. They are Kenmore loyalists. It's all a matter of opinion but when it comes to appliances, I stick to the basic with maybe a few amenities. They do the job just as well with less headache. -
I wish that store would have done that. They were more concerned about us not touching the plastic wrap before 6 PM than anything......

Oh good lord, the Walmart in my small hometown has put the DVD's, sheets and towels along the same aisle......the meat down to the dairy. Hmmm. I already said I wasn't going to try and fight the crowds for DVD's if they put them in the same place again this year. Last year they were in a huge boxed off area and folks with the carts ensured no one could move around the area. Not blaming the people with carts because you surely need one if buying lots of stuff. We never get one for two reasons....there is never one available and we rarely need a huge item so no cart means we can get around faster. I'll be going later anyway to pilfer through what's left of the DVD's. Hoping to get the main ones from Best Buy anyway.

Still no Helpers at either of my stores but Site to Store is still working like a charm for me checking in with the app. That in itself is a win for Walmart this year in my book.

Sally from Nightmare for Christmas hallmark ornament
HanShotFirst replied to tinkrbel's topic in 2016
I looked at 3 of my local stores and no luck. -
I do think the ads are lackluster the past few years but nonetheless there's always something in the big ones I want/need. And honestly, I'll shop anytime, anywhere, any way. As I said on another thread, I appreciate having doorbusters online. Hospitals don't close for the holidays so shopping online is my lifeline to the deals if I'm working the holiday weekend.

For anyone interested, one of Best Buy's Deals of the Day is the Bella air fryer. $49.99 with no mail-in rebate involved unlike Kohl's and Penney's. Using my $15 reward certificate takes it down to practically the same price as the one in the Walmart ad without the hassle of going to Walmart or a probable WM website crash next week. So, another big thing marked off my list before BF. Thank you Best Buy!

Yep. Mine is like that too and I love it. The only plugging in involved is the foot switch and my lighted tree topper. The fluffing is the worst part now and that's not even too terribly bad anymore. I'd recommend Home Depot or Lowe's trees. My personal preference is HD though.
