  1. The Wal-Mart's in my area allow you in..because they are 24 hr stores...but like the others said..pallets with plastic prevents you from touching merchandise usually til 5 am. It's a good idea to be there at least an hour early though. Especially if you need to be in a specific area like electronics. Good luck shopping!
  2. VERY nice deal...but wow...I don't think I could ever stomach working with DELL again.....it's lunacy..lol. Between the customer service rep and the support technician..and the never ending wait for over an hour to get a person.....I really don't think I can do that again...BUT **groan** I wish that was a gret deal somewhere else. I'll keep looking. I had a laptop.....IBM...that finally went kaputz..lol..so I am in the market for a very cheap laptop for me.
  3. I think the rude behavor some people display is the most disappointing. NOTHING available out there is worth me behaving like I was rasied in a cave.
  4. I don't think we overspend really....I have 5 girls..17, 14, 11, 11, and 7...and I have learned over the years....what WE as the parents feel about giving the gifts is the real reason we buy such pricey items. ANd I really don't want the lessons of Christmas to be about how expensive and how many presents they can get..but about the REASON Christmas exist. My girls usually get a budget of between $150-$200 each. We could probably afford double that....but I don't think its necessary considering they usually forget about that $40 barbie within a day or two, or whatever the latest craze is. Since I have all girls, there is very little available we haven't had at one point and time in the last couple decades.
  5. It's a great thing you are doing in letting these children inyour lives..but if they are foster children...you should add their name to the DHS christmas list....I work in social services and have organized a few different christmas present programs for foster children in our community.....you would be surprised the amount of churches and organizations just looking for children to help this time of year. Let them know you would like to be included and don't feel bad...that is what giving is all about..and many, many good people are wanting to do their own heart good by simply helping a child. Let them. Good Luck and I hope you all have a great Christmas.
  6. Well, where we are, you bring in the add from the competing store and show it to the cashier as you check out. If it's Walmart you want to buyt he item..just tell them to 'comp' the item..and 99.9% of the time..they already know every deal within the range to comp. Many times you may have to wait a few for a manager to approve if they dont know. BUt some places dont comp/pm..so I would call the store BEFORE you go if its something important to you and ask if they do pm.

    Steve and Barry's

We have one about 35 minutes from me..and I take my 17 and 14 year old girls every year to get some goodies......the female clothes...forget it..they are made for skeletons and the vertically challenged! BUT..the men's stuff holds up very well..I have never had a problem with shrinking myself..my girls usually get 10-12 items each..mainly hoodies and shirts....for school..and love them. This past July we were plesantly surprised because the normally 7.98 everything...had been changed to 4.98 for everything in the store! ANytime they have a gradn opening..seems they reduce everything! My daughter got a jean/wool coat for 5 bucks..cannot beat that..and besides..they want new stuff sooo often..a 100 dollars twice a year for dozens and dozens of items..is well worth the 35 miute drive twice a year.
  8. yep....my hubby is off today and I am already grilling him on how to divide and conquer..lol. The girls already know this routine..lol.
  9. Yes, I do know our local Walmart had ALOT of tv's left over last year..they had really over calculated for those....but usually..the electronics dept where I live is saturated with so many people you can barely move.
  10. OK..here is the thing....I LOVE BF....but....there inever seems to be butt a dozen hot items that available per store. I have worked Wal-mart and others..and even if you get there an hour or more early...especially electronics...its almost impossible to get the item because soooo many people are in line and waiting. I really would like the laptop..but I'm betting there will be less than a dozen actually available...ggrr...anyone know for sure? (I worked there and never knew this answer)
  11. I have been posting your link with the Black Friday deals as a lead in on my MSN groups since I saw you guys on CNN and registered today! AM really hoping it gets me some points..lol.
  12. Walmart will also NOT accept a computer printout usually..must be a flyer ...especially for coupons...they say its too easy to fake one now. BUT..each walmart is different....I have seen 2 in my neighborhood do 2 completely different policies depending on the manager.
  13. Walmart used to have only a three layaway policy....but now it is as many as you want...I think this change came because they used to let you add on to a layaway at anytime....now you can't..you simply make a new layaway. Also..I would check your local Walmart where ever you are...because I don't think you get the sales price for what comes OUT of layaway on BF.....if you lay it away ON BF>.you get the deal..but unless it is different all over.....you have to take the item back to customer service and repurchase the item...if you have a great deal that is on sale BF....best bet is to cancel and have them give you the items out of layaway...but they will not do this ON BF usually.
  14. I had my layaway lost at Kmart last year for 2 days......I waited about.....3 hours while they looked...finally the manager gave me her home phone and a $25 gift certificate for my trouble and promised to get back with me first thing in the mornng..they would continue to look...(because it was almost closing time)....they did call the next day..found half..and the next day the rest......but I was highly upset.....although since I have worked in stores..I know its not something I would take out on an employee...come to find out...the lady that put my layaway in....had marked it completely wrong...and it wasn't even near where it should be.
  15. Glad I am not the only one..I can't get the shopping list option to work either.
  16. Why this person thinks so badly of retail..yet stays in it is a mystery to me...if the same attitude portrayed on here is portrayed in a job interview...all I can say is......you are dang lucky to have a job at all....regardless of where it is. I have worked at Walmart, Fasmily Toy Warehouse, Ames and Gabriel Brothers on BF..and I can tell you......the majority of the problem usually falls on the shoulder of the EMPLOYEE. In today's world....people think they have no obligation to be decent, respectful people, I have had 18 year old, gum snapping, nasty mouthed, lazy kids working and treating people as if they were dirt on their shoe....and I have had wise, kind and respectful adults who know how to behave working.....which one do you think I let stay more than the trial period??? I LOVE shopping BF....but I usually hit one or two and go home..the traffic alone is a nightmare...and the thing that probably bugs me the most is simple greed..I often wonder exactly how much of these items are returned before New Years. Remember..you may WORK there...but WE pay your salary by simply PURCHASING the JUNK you so destain. I'd advise an attitude adjustment.....everyone knows you are gonna have rude and nasty customers.....thats why it is customer service......your JOB is to make them happy...even if it kills you to do so.
