  1. Like most people here, I really haven't found any great deals on anything good on Amazon so far. I do get my books, movies, and tv shows there, and have their Fire TV box which I love. But a lot of their current 'deals' seem to be foreign named items that are not really suited as gifts except for very specific people with very specific likes. I tend to get more universal items/gifts that most people would enjoy or find useful. I had hoped to see more movie/tv show deals myself, and I also can't spend hours and hours refreshing their pages hoping for something to show up. They should really advertise specific items or groups of items and let people know when they will be available. Of course then they'd have to improve their ability to handle the site traffic, which they apparently don't plan to do even after the fiasco I witnessed when they announced their sale of the NES Classic a couple weeks ago. After seeing Walmart and Best Buy hold their lines like champs early this morning when their sales went live online, I say Amazon needs to step it up in many aspects.
  2. I agree; the site ran well and I got the two movies I wanted. Kudos to Best Buy online and the folks here for their hard work!!
  3. Got the movies I needed and grabbed the infrared quartz heater since it may come in handy. Never saw the Rubbermaid set on the tracker; I must have missed it somehow. All in all the Walmart site did well with checkout and everything. Thanks to everyone here for all their hard work!!
  4. That camera is available now on Best Buy website for the Black Friday price and says it comes with the rainbow film. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/fujifilm-instax-mini-8-instant-film-camera-blue/1319385.p?skuId=1319385
  5. I got mine today in the mail; such a great surprise! Many thanks Brad! The hat is super nice, along with the post-its, pens, bottle opener, info cards, stickers, magnets, and gift card. I feel totally prepared for Black Friday now!!
  6. I haven't seen any info about Bath and Body Works for Black Friday yet... just wondering if anyone else has and I've missed it? I always stop there and grab their Black Friday/VIP bag that they sell with purchase. I hope it's still happening this year!
  7. I'm excited about stocking up on the movies like every year. Too bad they aren't doing the 'in stock guarantee' items anymore. Also my family moved our Thanksgiving to Saturday, so now I can be at Walmart as early as I want on Thursday. Unfortunately I work on Saturday.
  8. Awesome, thanks!
  9. I need to break down and get a membership to Sam's this year. I've never gone in that store but when I see their Black Friday ad I'm super curious about it.
  10. This is super nice; I needed a good surprise! Congrats to all winners and thanks to everyone for the great captions!
  11. My grandmother does this but she puts it all in those blue reusable Walmart shopping bags. She buys everything from ramen noodles to pudding packs to fruit and of course candy, plus useful little things like pens and such, and loads up the reusable bag for each person. It's always fun at Christmas to see what's in Granny's bags!
  12. Wow! Two hours is quite a wait for checkout; TRU must need more checkers working on BF! I'm looking forward to Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Shopko, Kohl's, Bergner's, and Bath & Body Works, because I always get their Black Friday bag with purchase.
  13. 1. Hey girls, forget that long line, let's check out at the jewelry counter! 2. I can't believe I skipped that extra piece of pie for this. 3. Sorry sweetie, car's full. You'll have to grab a taxi.
  14. I totally agree with these sentiments. It was better going out super early Friday morning as there was much less traffic and less competition in the stores. Now that the last of my lady relatives has children I will be heading out shopping alone after the Thanksgiving meal to get anything my relatives might want and a few movies for myself. I still enjoy the hunt but it would be better with a teammate, which I would have if it was back to the normal 5am on Friday schedule. It's nice that some retailers are waiting but I wish the big ones would follow suit.
  15. This is great info! Every year I forget the general release times for the ads so I'll be bookmarking this for sure! And it's getting so close to November now; I'm super excited!
  16. The winter hats are a great idea, especially for here in Missouri! Also the reusable shopping bags would be awesome! A notepad would be handy for making and checking off lists. I'd love a lanyard and/or keychain too. I'm sad that t-shirts won't be for sale but I can see how managing all the Black Friday stuff could be difficult. Prize packs will be fun!
  17. Bring it on!!!
  18. Same here! My family is doing Thanksgiving over the weekend after the holiday so Thursday will just be a shopping day for me. Making my list and checking it more than twice!
  19. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003VCEBEK/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=SAEXS4M8YEZ9&coliid=IKJMPOTYBYEPM&psc=1 Boxed 3 Piece Mens Initial Handkerchiefs I think there is something kind of classy about initial items. I get these for my grandfather for Christmas each year and he loves them. He is that hard to buy for guy who doesn't want anything but appreciates everything. These are inexpensive but useful and thoughtful.
  20. By the time Black Friday comes I am usually done or close to being done shopping for everyone on my list, so BF is like an extra birthday for myself lol. I get some movies that I have been wanting and maybe another pair of fuzzy pajama pants because you can never have too many pairs.
  21. Photo 1: Six tents a waitin' Photo 2: Five tvs rollin' Photo 3: and folks runnin' after gooooodies!
  22. I agree that with results like this, they won't likely be changing opening day back to Friday anytime soon. However, I wonder if people would like it if the stores only did their online sales on Thanksgiving and then only did their in store sales on Friday? The online sales would be huge and people wouldn't have to work the stores or shop outside of the home on the Thanksgiving holiday, and then the foot shoppers could get their in store shopping back on Friday. I would love to see this done at least once, just to see if it worked well. I purchased all that I was after during the online sales early Thursday, so I only went to a store that evening to get an item for a family member that was sold specifically in store. At any rate, this was kind of a laid back Black Friday for me, but what made it really easy was the Online Black Friday Tracker that we had here on GD!! That thing is just awesome for checking to see when things were coming up live for the websites. I used to be all about the in store shopping but this site makes the online shopping so easy that it's become my new fave way to shop Black Friday.
  23. Mine says that I should receive my Beats by Dec. 12, which is great since that's my bday anyhow. But that's with free shipping, they had faster options but shipping cost was higher.
  24. Things are coming up, I got my pink urBeats and was able to check out ok, then popped over to WM for a few movies. So far so good! Hope everyone can snag what they are after! And Happy Thanksgiving to you all!
  25. One good things about it; at least we are sitting at home in our pjs with snacks and bathrooms handy... Much better than sitting at Wal-Mart or outside Best Buy.
