  1. I saw them in our local Walmart last night. DD likes them but not crazy for them so I don't plan on getting them.
  2. That's pretty much what DS would be using his for too. Windows 7 Stater is a good start but you need to look at memory and processor speed too.
  3. Yes, last year the DS "Lite" was $97 at Walmart (they were the older colors). I think it will be at least that this year because since the DS Lite came out there has been the DSi and the DSi XL and soon there will be a 3DS. DS Lite should keep going down until they stop making it. I doubt it will get too much below $100 though.
  4. Last year I got my Garmin GPS that I wanted at radioshack.com with free shipping. I was very nervous, first time ordering online on BF, but I got it with no problems. :)
  5. You are right. I didn't even look. DD won't know the difference though. They still have $1 shipping on everything.
  6. ATTENTION! I just ordered one and Overstock has $1 shipping today! Panda Pillow Pet for $10.99! If you want one get it NOW! :)
  7. I know how you feel. DD, 5, is sooo easy to shop for but DS, 10, is a whole nother story! I'm thinking a netbook if they are cheap enough, other than that I don't have much on the list for him.
  8. Just checked. Apparently it does not have a camera and Apple may be releasing a new 7" iPad with front and rear camera like the iPhone 4 before Christmas. Personally I don't want an iPad. I have a laptop, a Nook, an iPod and a Blackberry...I don't need it.
  9. I check Gotta Deal several times a day. Other than that...nothing!
  10. This will be my 5th year. My first year I brought DD, about 1 at the time, to Best buy about 11am to get a desktop. What, it was my first year, I didn't know any better! I did get the computer I wanted though! My second year consisted of me standing outside of Circuit City in 40o weather for 8 hours to NOT get the laptop I was standing in line to get FOR my SIL! I went home with nothing. My third year was standing in line with a drunk guy for 6 hours and shoving, pushing and getting hit when the doors opened at our local WalMart...good times. Last year was a lot more calm and organized. It wasn't as "thrilling" but I also wasn't as scared.
  11. They had Pillow Pets on overstock.com for $9.99 with $2.95 shipping. That's the cheapest I've seen them and I might be an idiot for not buying one but it makes me feel that they will be at least the cheap for BF. I may regret that decision!
  12. Nope, I'm waiting til BF. UNLESS I find some really good clearance stuff and happen to have money on me.
  13. For me it is for the thrill but I would not be there if it weren't for the sales. In my area if you want a doorbuster you have to be near the front of the line to get them. A few years ago I was at Walmart at 10pm the Thanksgiving night and was like 5th in line. It was a mad rush of shoving to get in the door and to the carts. Last year we started at TRU because they opened at midnight. We were there about 8pm and were about 9th in line. It was very orderly as they only let in about a dozen people at a time and I was out of there before the line had barley budged. From there we went to Walmart, because I didn't need a doorbuster, and they had opened up at midnight for people to stand in line at each doorbuster and they handed them out in a orderly fashion at 5am. I was out before them because I had my cart full and was waiting at the checkout line around 4am. I was out of there at about 5:05. Target was the only place I got to after they opened and it was very crowded but I got what I wanted, again no doorbusters, and didn't spend too much time in line. Last year was a lot more calm all around because of the death a couple years ago. I still would not bring my kids though. I was out of the house before 8pm and back at almost 8am. My kids were safe in their beds the whole time! :) BTW, in my area I don't even go near Best Buy. I tried one year, got there about 9pm Thanksgiving night and there was already 150-200 people in line. I have NO idea when they started lining up but I will assume it was around noon. I love BF but I won't ruin my thanksgiving over it.
  14. Ya for cheap netbooks cuz no one will want them, except me! :) Guess they should add a Tablet thread too.
  15. I understand people probably don't "want" to bring their kids but if I didn't have a babysitter I just wouldn't go. There are plenty of sales and clearances before X-Mas that it's not like the kids would have nothing if not for BF. BF is not a necessity, no one "has" to go.
  16. No One is saying kids should be banned! I personally would never do it. Like Jim said it's just too dangerous and uncomfortable for the kids! And how much X-Mas shopping can you really do with the kids with you? Ya the babies don't know that difference but still. Yes, there are many single mothers out there but do they really have NO other option than to bring their kids? Honestly, I get a little upset when I see crying kids in their PJ's at Walmart at 11 at night. My kids come first, not shopping.
  17. Yes, there should be a Desktop thread, a Netbook thread and a Laptop/Notebook thread. :) I will try to help as much as I can. :)
  18. Hahaha! When are we getting the dedicated threads for computers and stuff?
  19. I don't mean to sound rude if I do but, why on earth would people bring their kids to BF? Is it just because they don't have a babysitter? For me DH takes BF off of work, vacation day, now and before I would just have my niece sleep over to be there when the kids woke up and so when I got home I could take a nap. .
  20. YES! Many people are confused about all these different machines! Oh, and can you add that Laptops and Notebooks are the same thing?!
  21. The deals are sometimes really good but I think a lot of it is the thrill! If I had to bring my kids with me (especially pregnant) it would NOT be fun. I'd be BFing online!
  22. I would not bother with any of them that have Windows CE. I agree with stationchef that there WILL be better deals on BF. Even the one they had at I think Office Max last year was a way better machine for $149. I'm sure you will be able to get a netbook that has a name that we have heard of (like Acer), Windows XP or 7 Starter, Flash and more of what you need for around $100. I just don't anyone kicking them selves when BF rolls around and they could have got a way better deal!
  23. Unless you really need it NOW, I wouldn't bother. There will be way better netbooks on BF for around the same amount of money.
  24. Probably not impossible but I might think that large software files like Office Suite would really slow the machine down to a crawl. Personally I wouldn't try to load software like that or Photoshop or anything else large. Just compare the memory between netbooks and laptops or even desktops and you will see the difference.
  25. Oh, I was mistaken. DS 10 got a Hex bug last X-Mas and he still plays with it, so does DD 5. DS wants the battle field or whatever it's called for them this year.
