  1. MAN I wish that Kindle special was for the larger model.
  2. The Amazon reviews are positive, if not outstanding. Keep in mind that a LOT of 7" tablets, many of which are better than the Dell, are gonna be part of BF sales.
  3. Yeah, pretty uninspiring. I will say that the deal on Apple TV is the kind of thing we're gonna see this year: There'll be virtually no flexibility on prices, so the value of the deal will depend on what's bundled with it.
  4. https://www.facebook.com/groups/453631724712562/
  5. The ads that have been posted already have two Samsung Galaxy 10-inch tablets for $299.
  6. It's simply a disincentive to dissuade customers from NOT having Amazon Prime. At the same time, they offer a number of benefits besides the shipping to encourage people to go Prime (they now have a Kindle Lending Library, where Prime members can read books without having to buy them).
  7. What price range are you looking at?
  8. Maybe Fry's or someplace like that.
  9. Does that include the Pro? And the first generation as well, or only the 2-series models?
  10. Yeah, looks like the deal I posted is for Class 4 cards. That's fine with me, though. The tablet I've bought (hurry up and get the damn thing shipped already, youse guys) has 32Gb, which should store all my apps with no problem; I'm planning to use the MicroSD card to load media, like music and comics.
  11. On a tangential note: I was shopping around for MicroSD cards (I suspect my kitten has "disappeared" my 32Gb card) online, as well as perusing last year's BF ads. What I found was that MicroCenter has, both in-store and online, 32Gb MicroSD cards (not generics, either) for $15.99 (to put it in perspective, that's how much my first 1Gb thumb drive cost in 2007); that's better than any BF specials from last year. Now, MAYBE there'll be lower prices on Black Friday, but if so, it won't be by much; I wouldn't strain myself too much trying to hunt down those deals.
  12. I think I'll cool my heels and see what Black Friday/Cyber Monday have to offer. I'm hoping that, with Fire HDX models having rolled out, the prices on the Fire HD models will continue to head downward.
  13. Yeah, since we're now suddenly in the market for a Kindle Fire (for the in-laws), I was hoping to land one of those deals. Dang.
  14. That's why you don't go cheap when you buy a cane. Mine is stronger than a human skull.
  15. Not necessarily. I got my partner a 1080p 39" LCD set for $269 last year (and I think it was a Cyber Monday deal). So, hope springs eternal.
  16. Also, keep in mind that "LED" is a misnomer. These are not sets that use OLED like some smartphones currently use (that would look fantastic, but isn't feasible cost-wise just yet); what they ARE are LCD TVs that use LEDs as the light source. Now, this does have some advantages: Brighter picture, and much longer life. However, LCD-lit sets suffer from the same motion-blur problems that regular LCD sets do. Unless you're putting the TV somewhere where there's NO ability whatsoever to control the ambient lighting in the room, I still advocate strongly for getting a plasma set.
  17. Yeah. If you can find 'em before they get pulled, the non-retina display models are probably gonna be available for some half-decent discounts.
  18. At age 10? Can she tell you specifically what she wants an iPad for that the Fire can't do (and an iPad definitely does have greater capabilities; I'm just not sure how useful they are to a ten-year-old)? I mean, the Fire can play games, do moderate web surfing, watch videos, and, of course, it's excellent for reading. I don't know your daughter, obviously, but I have a sneaking suspicion she's suffering from a case of the "gotta have its."
  19. Dangit. I'm REALLY considering pulling the trigger on this: http://1sale.com/electronics/computers-tablets/asus-101-32gb-tablet/?ET_CID=1279&ET_RID=36552&ET_UID=%201001076389&utm_source=et&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=m20131025 ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity 10.1" Super IPS Multi-Touch Display 32GB w/ Android 4.0 & Tegra 3 Quad-Core CPU! I've had fantastic luck with ASUS refurbs (for example, the desktop I'm writing this on right now), and the reviews on Amazon are pretty darn strong. The resolution is also a cut above for this price range. My only issue is: What if I buy this, and there's a better price on Black Friday? Could anyone with experience shopping for tablets on BF offer some insight? EDIT: Welp, for better or worse, I pulled the trigger. Now to hunt for accessories.
  20. Luckily, Bluetooth keyboards come in all types of quality and price, so you've got your pick. That leaves you free to focus on the tablet. For a twenty-year-old, I'd get one as versatile as possible.
  21. People are upset because they're babies. Just get Prime and stop crying (if you're a student, you can get a free year of Prime, followed by half-price membership every year you're still in school after that).
  22. I was visiting the in-laws in Alabama last Thanksgiving, so I did the lion's share of my BF shopping online, primarily at Amazon (with a smattering of Bestbuy.com thrown in). Now, I DID make the ten-mile trek to the nearest BB store Friday morning, and since I wasn't really going for any of the big-ticket items, I pretty much got what I wanted (primarily, a Harmony remote for my in-laws).
  23. Disabled pimpin' Glad I've got a scooter now Watch out for your toes!
  24. According to our roommate Sean (The Cellphone Whisperer), the new iPad models mean the previous ones are gonna go down in price a whopping $20. If you're holding out for an iPad, I'd suggest waiting till BF or Cyber Monday, and look for the best bundle, as that's gonna be how retailers distinguish themselves.
