I think one of the weirdest things was my experience in Wal-Mart last year... I went at maybe 5am and it was empty. I didn't go for any big doorbusters, just little ones like socks and slippers. But I had the place to myself. It was unnerving.

The company ran a group photo promotion on social media to promote employee morale on the blockbuster shopping day, asking stores to post selfies with the hashtags #thissmileisntforcedatall, #upallnight, and #awkwardcolleaguegrouphugs. 3. Despite the fact that most of them could not see the item up for auction, they knew that it had to be better than that Banksy auction.

Agree with the Barbie dreamhouse! And Barbie accessories, like the camper or van or other larger items that go with it. Not sure if this year is the year to get a family gaming system, but the right price would entice me to get a Wii or Nintendo switch or something similar.

I wish I could hang out laundry. I remember that being one of my jobs as a kid and I lament not having a clothing line. But a long time ago doctors said not to do it because of the pollen and my seasonal allergies. Bargains, baking, and Black Friday!

I just read a story that toys r us might be closing next week. Despite the fact that I had a terrible experience with online order pickup this year, I always did like the selection of toys in store. Bargains, baking, and Black Friday!

My kids move things around the house so it's a very real dream for me! Heard on a podcast about the ridiculous amount of rigid plastics that end up in waterways and the ocean because they don't break down or aren't recycled. One thing they suggested was using social media to get in touch with manufacturers, like toy manufacturers, and demand less packaging. The next step they recommended was, after purchase, taking the toy out of the plastic right in the store and having the store get rid of it. Eventually the store would put pressure on the manufacturers to reduce packaging. Needless to say I am inspired for my next shopping trip! Bargains, baking, and Black Friday!

Took down the Christmas tree yesterday and most of the house decorations. I've been looking for a new Christmas tree, a skinny tall-ish one, prelit, and by the time I made it to Lowes they were all gone. I haven't even checked online, I've been so busy, and now everything in stores is Valentine's Day. Oh well. Bargains, baking, and Black Friday!

I've started receiving packages from cyber week orders. For both packages that I've received, they were left just outside my door without a knock or doorbell. One was early in the morning as it was there by 7am. The other one came around lunch and I happened to be home though there was no knock. Maybe companies are trying to be efficient but in this era of stories of people swiping packages, wouldn't there be a better effort on the part of the company to do due diligence? I sprang out of bed, grabbed my phone, my trusty GD hat, my tabbed flyers for price-matching, my car keys and, like a reindeer on Christmas Eve, dashed madly out the door and slid into the driver's seat - and as I turned the key, a light flashed on the dashboard: the car was dangerously low on gas.

Elf! A classic!

Well, I hope I'm able to post a recipe that doesn't involve baking... here's a drink recipe for a new favorite for the holidays! Caramel Apple Sangria makes about 1 gallon 1 750-mL bottle of pinot grigio 1 cup caramel-flavored vodka 6 cups apple cider Chopped or slice apples for garnish A splash of ginger ale, if desired Mix together the wine, vodka, cider, and apple slices in a large serving container. Stir in a little bit of ginger ale for bubbly effect when serving. I like using a fruity wine and spiced apple cider (from Trader Joe's), and chilling everything in the fridge before mixing together. Enjoy!
