  2. i hadn't thought of that. you're right. i'll check it out. thank you.
  3. Thank you--yes! I did have a survey. I cashed in my points for the first time ever and have some left. I have my eye on one more movie. Only 200 points away from that!
  4. there was one on zuililly today http://www.zulily.com/p/lego-friends-brickmaster-78760-6471381.html?pos=4&e=1&fromEvent=78760&ns=ns_004194350|1417705824359 and some lego friends books... http://www.zulily.com/e/lego-collection-78760.html?pos=1&section=top&ns=ns_004194350|1417705872886
  5. bhp6333, thank you so much. sadly, i've already entered those. i need them to release a new 23-point code.
  6. maybe mentioning it isn't direct enough. who'd want to be in charge of it? or, you can join me in filling your own stocking. it might not sound very festive, but i love my stocking stuffers and i don't have to harass someone to have it filled nor feel disappointed that they didn't think of it. win-win. someone mentioned trolling the dollar store. i think i'll take that idea and troll home depot's aisles for dh.
  7. Yes! Santa always put an orange and a comic digest in our stocking. I had to (peel and) eat the orange and read the comic--and switch with my sister before we were allowed to wake my parents! Totally! Stockings can be expensive. But I do think they are the best...maybe cause Santa was so good at stuffing them with things I liked and not just junk to fill the space. Maybe it's why I still love them. I love hearing all your ideas. They help me keep it fresh--some stocking traditions are nice but also nice to have some surprises each year. DH- A HUGE honeycrisp apple. small bottle of maple syrup. magazine? plant clips for the garden. gift card. not sure what else...this will fill the toe of his stocking! DD- i like the earbuds idea. nail polish, book, chocolate, peeps, pony tail holders. underware (this cracks her up--that Santa brings her underware!) holiday socks, rubix cube, orange, wild republic bird stuffie, the free $10 barnes and noble gift card that comes when you buy $75 in gift cards. maybe some craft supplies. lego figures. i always have way more ideas for her than i need. her stocking is the smallest. mine- lily and laura bracelets, magazine, book, orange, nail polish, fancy shampoo (that i only buy at xmas),
  8. I think stockings are one of the best parts of Christmas! But they can be difficult to fill...especially for DH who's stocking is huge and stretches! What are your favorite things to put in stockings? for kids and adults. :)r
  9. NicM- I find the reviews on Amazon helpful as a starting point.

  13. maggiano's: buy $100 in gift cards, get $20 in bonus card and a 1 year subscription to food and wine magazine.
  14. the free gift card can be used beginning 12/26.
  15. Thank you, everyone, for your suggestions. The Janome is a little above my price point. Though, I'm sure you're right that it's a great machine. I'm used to a Singer (so is dd since she uses mine now.) The Brothers seem similar. I hadn't thought to look at Walmart; thank you for that suggestion. I've been watching this one on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000F7DPEQ/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2BBYAAJKNDM1C&coliid=I1RCWR55GC6Q6L&psc=1
  16. include your mom's hubby not because you love him but because you love her. buy what you want and spend what you want. that's the nature of a gift. and practice smiling if anyone has a comment and saying something lovely and non-confrontational like, i think it's been a nice holiday. i'm happy to spend it with you all. so, have you seen any good movies/read any good books lately? could you pass the potatoes? good luck. :)r
  17. if anyone notices a sewing machine on sale before december 14th-ish, if you have time to post it, i'd love to know. you might see one i don't. dd7 has asked for one for her birthday and it's her #1 burning request. (a real, but basic machine. not a kids' machine.) tia, :)r
  18. we bought one at target last weekend...and just saw nearly the same thing at sam's club for less. still expensive but less.
