Laptops are expected to range from about $200-300 (Celeron/Sempron processor, 512MB memory, 60-80GB hard drive) to about your $1000 limit (for the dual-core processors, 1-2 GB memory, and 80+ hard drive). Basically, take the current specials stores are having and compare prices and specs to what you're looking for. BF will have similar specs on laptops for a bit cheaper than the current price tags. And since you're new, be prepared for what it may take to get the laptop you want. The cheaper < $300 laptops and the more popular ones usually only go to the first few dozen people in a line of possible hundreds, or thousands in larger neighborhoods, at Best Buy's BF sale. Red up on what to expect on BF and plan well ahead. And welcome to the experience of your life! The first BF you take part in is always the most memorable.

Thedy had the Westinghouse 22" widescreen for $199. Also another nice 19" widescreen for about $129. They should have more again this year as current monitors are gettin' larger and utilizing more state-of-the-art technology while the others are gettin' cheaper. Let's hope for a slight drop, or maybe a huge one, in prices.

It varies each year. All depends how much I can save, when I can start saving, and how much in Best Buy Bucks (McD's Monopoly Game pieces I send for) I can get this year.

Yup. Major limited quantity doorbusters are in-store only, but most of the stuff in the ad should be online. Just be ready to click on a moment's notice as they go almost just as fast. May work, then again, may not. All depends if they have that item out in stock before BF. Most likely the doorbuster cheap desktops and laptops won't be.

Best Buy Black Friday Ticket System, FAQ and Sample Ticket

The BB line last year over here was absolutely scary! Wrapping around the building, around the entire parking lot, and beyond! All depends if you're brave enough and prepared enough. As for me, I'm really hoping for BB to do online ordering of BF items again this year. -
Don't spare the ban hammer! Sick 'em!

A great big GottaDeal welcome to al the newbies piling in for BF this year! Hope to yap with y'all soon!

Who wants to bet me that the moment we see the first ad come in it'll show up for auction on eBay? I remember people did that last year and made some small fortunes selling the leaked ads to poor saps who didn't know any better. And the ads they were selling even had the web site's 'stamp' on it mentioning where to get it for free. That's just ... wrong.

The Black Friday boards are getting starting earlier every year!

Official forums coming up, then the first ads are next, then all the high-quality ads, then the official ads, then before we know it ... it's BF! I know there's lots of people who wanna talk about BF all year long. But I say three months before seems to be reasonable for the official grand opening. Don't think it'll ever get any earlier than that. We gonna send out emails to remind everyone like we did last year, Brad? That's what reminded me to come back last year. -
:: FRANTICALLY SEARCHES POCKETS FOR A HUNDRED BUCKS :: .... :: FINDS TWO DOLLARS AND THIRTY-FIVE CENTS :: Darn. Seems I'm a tad short.

Will Black Friday Be Different This Year Then In Years Past???
stationchief replied to bigjimslade's topic in 2007
The three sure things to look forward to every year on BF. Too true. -
Please don't tease like that, Brad! My health can't take it! You, umm ... are teasing, right?
-
Without looking at last year, I'll guess Best Buy. Hoping for Wal-Mart, though.

Ah. Now I remember them doing that online. Let's hope they do it again this year, even offer them online. -

If I'm not mistaken last year they issued their ads in that gigantic newspaper on thanksgiving like they always do. But I think they did release the ads in the stores a few days earlier. I like that practice and hope they continue it again. One major difference in BF tactics we saw last year was from Wal-Mart. For some reason they decided to offer a pre-BF doorbuster sale on a laptop weeks before BF instead of offering one on BF itself. That was very unusual, but it seemed to work out for some people. I'm kinda hoping to see 'em do the same thing this year to save me some time on BF. Every BF we seeem to see new things being tried out making each BF a little different than the previous. For the most part, I think most things have been successful. Expect lots more changes to come. -

That one's been online for some time. Still gets me every time I see it. Tuck and roll ... tuck and roll! Maybe they should have some background music playing, like the William Tell Overture. -
Congrats to our new mods! Welcome back BF Forums!

Need GREAT deal on HP Notebook

Mind if I ask what's wrong with AMD? -
I usually don't want much, but I end up having to stay for at least several hours whether I want to or not for the sake of getting through the crowds.

Just curious why the design on the backpack and the current t-shirt are difrerent. Which one is the OFFICIAL GottaDeal logo?
-
That's what I'd suggest. Get in touch with the rest of the family and gather any digital photos of everyone they may have. Put 'em on an SD card ahead of time, then provide the aunt and uncle with the card along with the digital photo frame.

Wouldn't that be Bogof?

The wife came with me once a few years back for some Wal-Mart wait-in-line doorbusters. She never wanted to go again. Been lonely on BF ever since. Some people just don't know how to have fun.

Yeah. Every time I see that signature of yours, the number keeps goin' up.
