  1. Just about anything that's got a decent 64-bit processor (that doesn't include the Celeron D's ) and at least 512MB memory or perhaps if you can upgrade that yourself. If you're gonna be installing all those Vista user-friendly stuff like effects and eye candy then get one with a good graphics card or at least an internal slot to upgrade the graphics card yourself.
  2. Not bad at all except for all that integrated stuff. But, then again, what do ya expect? It's an HP! If you can afford upgrading the graphics to a PCI-E card, then that'd make a nice deal.
  3. I'm not in line tonite but I thought we'd take a head count. Giva a lil' shoutout with your cellphone browser or your WiFi-powered internet connection if you're waiting in line right now and can read this!
  4. Be careful with buying the thanksgiving paper in public places. Some people probably steal the ads out of 'em to avoid paying the 50 cents for the whole paper.
  5. Just to remind everyone, 'ya don't have much time to come up with your final desktop choice decisions. So ask away now while 'ya still can! And don't forget the comparison chart is here to help 'ya out every step of the way. BF 2006 Desktop Comparison Chart As for myself, I'll be online all night long starting a lil' bit later, so if anyone needs some advice or wants to ask questions 1-on-1 you can PM me here or catch me on AIM: chfbehring. G'luck y'all!
  6. Either of those HP/Compaq ones, except for the $200 eMachines, can run either version of Vista. Just maybe need to upgrade the graphics card to install all that fancy eye candy stuff. The $200 eMachines might run Vista without the extra goodies, but it'll need more upgrading.
  7. It says the specific model may vary between stores, but I'm 99.9% positive it's their cheap eMachines desktop with a celeron processor (the one they offer for about $398-498 everyday).
  8. Got mine on my front porch this morning. One of the benefits of having a subscription to the Arizona Republic.
  9. "I laugh at the folks who are freezing to save a dime, Cuz I'm nice and warm! I'm shopping online!"
  10. Thanx to Brad, Ross, and all the mods and everyone responsible for making GottaDeal the best site this BF season! You guys are making GottaDeal #1 all year round!
  11. Thnx! Just now saw it posted over at GottaDeal's Fry's thread. Now I can sleep well tonite.
  12. "Suddenly, without warning, doors open to the call of wars, I missed my cue to move and now I'm seeing stars! I get knocked around unwillingly as the line roars to the front, And I think someone shoved me away with something blunt! As I'm trampled on the ground I think I'm seeing red, Someone ran over my spleen before they stepped on my head! As my stars cleared away I feel I may start to cry, As I kiss my poor cheap laptop good-bye. " (I know this is all more than two lines, but I'm on a roll here!)
  13. You don't need to adjust your contrast. It is $189.97. 'Puter, 15" monitor, and printer. Not a very powerful desktop, but good enough for the money.
  14. (Continuing the middle part) ... "There's the folks that didn't potty - there doing a dancing show, Looks like the other guy printed his ads a month ago. There's the next door neighbor and all her kids in their chairs, Oh look: there's some folks who forgot their winter wears. There's some folks coming now - boy are the gonna whine, When they realize they're place is the back of the line."
  15. Just had to make a thread about the Fry's Electronics ad not gettin' leaked this year. This is one of the major two BF stores I've been waiting for an ad for. I know it's difficult to leak this one, as I think it's given directly to the newspaper presses, but someone had to know what the BF sale items were before the guy designed the ad. Where was the leak? Sorry, but I just can't wait 'till tomorrow. I'm gonna have insomnia all night anticipating that one!
  16. Here's two for somewhere in the middle: "In my car I race to be the first in line, All the way shouting 'The laptop is mine!' When I suddenly arrive I see such a start, The line already wraps to the other side of the mart!" (More than a few years of Dr. Seuss under my belt!)
  17. Are we at least gonna get to buy the "Best of 'Ross Doess Black Friday'" cd compilation? Ross sings the theme songs to all the major BF chains (Circuit City, Best Buy, etc). Throw in a few holiday tunes and it'd be a great way to make a few extra donations of $19.95. Sorry, Ross, but you have such the singing voice.
  18. The Arizona Republic in Phoenix, Az. officially comes first thing early tomorrow morning. However, today's paper had the K-Mart 10/23 thanksgiving day sales (non-doorbuster one) and the Sport Chalet BF ad.
  19. Just to let everyone know, the BF 2006 desktop comparison chart is and has been up and running for all your last-minute decisions. Desktop Comparison Chart Doesn't include the online exclusive deals released this week, but good info nonetheless. Enjoy!
  20. And I thought when you messaged me the number that it was your personal home number you never give out to just anyone. I thought I was someone extra special until I saw this thread! Silly me,huh? Seriously, it was a real treat to put a voice to the name. Thanx for all the kind words, Ross! And thanx for everything you've done for GottaDeal and for taking every good thing about this site up a notch. Man, I thought you had enough to do with running this site. Now this. Wish my full-time job was just as fun. Call now! Operator is standing by! P.S. - Why not set up a counter on the BF GottaDeal home page that counts every call that comes in? Like a telethon or something. Or would that be a tad too cheesy?
  21. I happen to work as a full-time delivery driver for Domino's, and I can tell 'ya, more people order pizza at the full menu price than 'ya might think. Lots of people figure if they don't have a coupon handy they have no choice. One tip for ordering pizza: always ask for a deal. All 'ya gotta do is tell us what'cha want and we do a search with the hundreds of promotions in our computer. Of course, some places might not be as nice as we are. Oh, and I do NOT like pizza. Had my gallbladder out years ago and I have other ongoing health problems that prevent me from eating anything pizza-ish. My lips could very well have a restraining order to have to be ten feet from that Brooklyn-style pizza. That thing is a grease factory to go.
  22. Nine years, eh? Ah the memories of windows 95, 64MB RAM, 1.8 GB hard drive, etc. Well, I'm just including the desktops available on BF in that chart. The Dimension 5150 is online, on sale and available right now as Dell doesn't have BF deals. FYI, here's the specs: Intel Pentium 4 Processor 524 (3.06GHz, 533FSB) 19" E197FP Analog Flat Panel 512MB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz 80GB 7200RPM SATA II Hard Drive 16X DVD-ROM Drive Integrated 7.1 Channel Audio 1 Year On-site Economy Warranty Plan Not the best BF-ish deal, but not bad for folks who can't wait in lines. Plus it's fully upgradable before 'ya check out. If 'ya have the money I suggest a CD burner, and if it's gonna be used for gaming by the kids might I recommend a larger hard drive, more memory, better speakers, and a much better graphics card. If 'ya need any more specific info, fell free to PM.
  23. BF 2006 Desktop Comparison Chart updated! Desktop Comparison Chart Got specifics on all the desktops up there now. Only things missing are the CUsa desktops (obviously) and, for some reason, there's no known info on any of the eMachines or HP "Celeron D 352" desktops. Hmm. Anyone know why? Is that processor being completely discontinued or am I just blind? Anyways, enjoy!
  24. $399 desktop = no. But has an available internal PCI and PCI-E slot to upgrade to one. $849 desktop from CC (not BB) is the only one that has one pre-installed.
  25. Better spend a lil' more now and get one with a faster, mor efficient processor and more memory if there's gonna be plenty of video ripping/editing/burning. First, the cheaper 'puters don't come with a DVD burner, just a CD burner/DVD reader. And the better processor and memory you have the better the frame rate and quality of the videos will be when 'ya transfer 'em to your computer. It helps with editing as well. Not to mention you'll need plenty of hard drive space since true DV files are VERY large before 'ya burn 'em to DVD.
