  1. Letting everyone know to tune in to BigJim's Black Friday Live Webcast for the unveiling of the first items for the 2012 Product Charts. And if you don't know what the charts are, tune in to find out!
  2. There may be an exclusive unveiling tonite as well
  3. In my town last year there was the Wal-Mart pepper-spray lady who waited until the pallet came out then sprayed everyone to get 'em out of her way, and the incident where security tackled down and injured a kid's grandpa because he stuck a video game under his shirt in order to help his grandson. Fortunately I was nowhere around when those incidents happened. What has happened to Black Friday, anyways? It used to be all about the fun and the deals. Now it's like people take their life into their hands for a towel.
  4. Congrats to the winners! Wear those shirts with pride forever and ever!
  5. Now all we need to do is start the Walmart banning and Black Friday will have officially begun
  6. Just giving a lil' bumpity-bump to let folks know there's still room for more volunteers. The more the merrier
  7. A very good topic, especially after what happened to you last year. Hope you stay well this year
  8. Sorry I couldn't make it last Saturday night. My excuse is I was having too much fun on Las Vegas' Freemont Street all night I' be watching the replay later tonite and I'll definitely be there this Saturday.
  9. I'll bite: #1. "I'm sorry, ladies and gentlemen, but these are NOT the TV dinners we advertized in our ad!" #2. "Maced! I've been maced!" #3. Meanwhile... 12 days after father and son arrived in line at Best Buy...
  10. It's sorta up-in-the-air if I'll be able to show up this Saturday as I'll be in Las Vegas, but I'll try to chime in for a lil' bit.
  11. I don't think BigJim recorded the test webcast even though it was a smashing success. I think everyone will love the new format.
  12. Our wonderful members are very multitaskable!
  13. Okey-dokey. First order of business is to make the annual call for volunteers to help out with the charts. Remember, these charts are made possible by our very own members just like you volunteering their own time. Basically, you'll be searching the internet for information on specifications and such, like on manufacturer's websites, and entering that information into an online form on a special website designated for chart volunteers. Some charts are small and easy with very little to search for, and some are much larger and a bit harder to find specs on. So please keep the amount of free time you can devote to these charts in mind. So if you'd like to help out this year please send me a PM and also let me know if you have a particular chart preference you'd like to work on.
  14. Well, it's that time of year again, folks. Time to break out that mace protective gear, time to practice those dodge-and-weave line jumping tactics, and it's time for... ... INSERT HIP THEME SONG HERE... The Black Friday Comparison Charts! As always, the charts can be found here: www.blackfridaycharts.com. And for comparison, last year's 2011 charts can be found here: www.blackfridaycharts.com/2011 For those who don't know, the Black Friday Charts are a table-style detailed listing of every hot electronics item available for Black Friday from all the stores we receive ads for. They're useful for for comparing prices from different stores, comparing specs of different items, and all around finding the very best deal for you on Black Friday. Instructions: The instructions are as follows (and likely may change as they're currently in the process of being redesigned): simply start by selecting which chart you want to view (from Blu-ray Players to Video Games), choose what stores you want to search through (you can select the stores you're planning on shopping at or deselect stores that you don't have access to), and hit (or just click, to be safer) 'Display Chart'. That's all there is to it. Once a chart is displayed, you can sort all the information by whatever by clicking on a column's title. For example: you can sort all the HDTVs by their price by clicking on the header called 'Price'. The arrows displayed under the column titles will show you if they're sorted ascending or descending. You can also bring one particular item to the top of the list by clicking on that item once. Also, as a new feature, you can filter out certain items based on their specs or criteria. For example: let's say you're looking for only HDTVs that are larger than 40-inches. You can choose 'Show Only', 'Screens', then choose 'that are greater than', and type in 40. All the HDTVs that are greater than 40-inches will then be displayed. General Info: As always, the charts are made possible by the one and only StationChief (you're welcome ) and his band of friendly neighborhood volunteers from the GottaDeal forums, so be sure to thank everyone responsible. All updates to the charts will be posted here and I may even make some exclusive announcements during the Black Friday Webcasts by BigJimSlade among other GottaDeal media, so be sure to tune in and stay alert for all the latest info. Hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Black Friday this year, and I hope the charts are useful to everyone. Sincerely, Frank a.k.a. The Station Chief
  15. Well, I've been tagging along with the family for about a good 10 years now. Been a member here since around BF of 2005. Has it really been that long? Don't know yet if I'm taking part in BF shopping this year. Being a starving college student takes it's toll on your pocketbook If I can scrounge enough cash in time I might shop online for a decent HDTV and a blu-ray player. Time to turn in my 13-inch TV-VCR combo tube TV and get with the modern times.
  16. Maybe gottadeal.com needs a warehouse store. A lot of that swag looks good enough to slap a pricing tag on
  17. All I can say is... ME WANT!
  18. Been seeing lots of new 'faces' around here as we get ready for Black Friday season. Welcome one and all!
  19. Oh, I figure sometime around... November 23rd.
  20. I just checked and for the last two years the BF t-shirts have been Hanes brand tagless and 100% cotton. Keep that in mind when ordering your size, too.
  21. Pretty much a successful test. Livestream is a lot easier for everyone to log into. And no ads! Had a lil' trouble with the audio being a bit off by a few seconds, but if that can be solved and iIf Brad and BigJim can get some admin tools worked out (there was nothing mentioning who's in the chat or how many people watching) this might be a good permanent home for the webcasts.
  22. I predict Brad will be in hibernation mode by that time
  23. I'm going with #8. The blue with the orange text and caution sign really stand out and it states the web site, not just Black Friday. I'd suggest throwing a QR code on the back, like under the caution sign, since that's where most people in line will be seeing the t-shirt anyways
  24. From what I understand, the Kindle Store has access to the same android apps as a tablet but only apps that are 'Amazon Approved', so to speak. They've been getting better but not quite as big of a selection as a full blown tablet with access to the Google Play store.
  25. Actually, the new Kindle Fire SD (replaces old style Fire) is $159 and the $199 goes on the Fire HD. They also got new E-Readers for the non-tablet family. According to Amazon's pre-order page that just went up: Kindle Fire - the Tablet from Amazon - Only $159
