How do you handle family fueds during the Holidays?
BoulderChick replied to amyers12345's topic in 2007
Dear amyers12345, I am so sorry to hear about your daughter. You all will be in my prayers. I hope she is feeling better. I can not imagine how scary this must have been for you all. With everything that is going on you may consider celebrating Thanksgiving with just your children and husband. All of my Thanksgivings growing up were this way. (Navy Family) And I LOVED our Thanksgivings together. It is difficult trying to celebrate with people you aren't getting along with and who have hurt and angered you. And no matter how hard you try to hide the stress, I'm sure your daughter will be able to feel it. (It's the child and Mom connection:) ) I know I can always tell when my Mom is stressed and/or upset, even over the phone with Mom being in Ohio and me here in Colorado. And I would worry that you daughter might stress out too. Talk to your husband about it. You never know you may start a tradition of actually enjoying Thanksgiving. ;)Wake up and have some coffee, stay in your pjs while you all cook dinner. Get the kids involved in the preperations if they are old enough. When my Mom made pies she would make extra pie crust and my brother and I would play with the extra. We always watched Miracle on 34th street, since the opening scene is on Thanksgiving Day and watch the Macys parade and just enjoy our time together. We weren't stressed about getting to anyones house on time or keeping our "nice clothes" clean or seeing the uncle that nobody likes. We just enjoyed the day and each other. Have a Happy Thanksgiving! -
I agree with you. Should I go out in 17 degree weather with snow showers or shop online. I'm leaning towards shopping online. Happy Thanksgiving!

Does she have a favorite pet or picture that she drew or painted? You could go to CafePress.com and have a totebag made with the image. It isn't a $$$ gift, but she could show off her talent of favorite friend when she carries her bag.

Their Video Game prices are very HIGH! Thats how they can do B2G1, because by the time you've purchased two, your actually paying the price for 3 at most other stores.

Hi Everyone, I was at Target today and noticed most of the BF items out on the end caps, especially in toys and electronics. Obiviously the prices aren't BF prices, but if there was anything you wanted to buy and price adjust, then you won't have to look to hard for the items. Hannah Montana & Friends 3 pack At my Target they had about 12-15 of these. The price now is $34.95 Video Games They had a bunch of different Video Games (xbox,xbox360,DS etc...) They were on a end cap priced $19.99 and the tags said "2 day" on them. Have a great week and enjoy your Thanksgiving!!!

For my husbands boss and his family(good people) we are giving a gift to them from www.seva.org I am not sure which gift yet, we are still deciding.
-
We are getting gifts for my husbands assistant(fun girlie stuff, MAC, Sephora) and Movie Theatre GC's for his student workers(they work maybe 10 hrs per week during school) still trying to decide on $15 or $20 GC for them. Maybe even a $15 Movie card and a $5 Starbucks card. I like the idea of getting a new coffee pot for the breakroom and then giving gifts of coffee mugs with cocoa, tea, coffee.

My Mom still does this to me!:) The BEST was this year for my birthday(10/13) My Mom had me convinced that she had no clue when she would be able to come visit (Mom and Dad are in Ohio, we're in Colorado)and that she wouldn't be able to come for my birthday, even though I begged and pleaded. I was sooo sad. This was going to be my first birthday by myself. DH was out of town for work. EVERYONE was in on it. My Dad, Brother(in Iraq) and Husband(I'm convinced my puppy knew too!) On the 12th of October, my DH told me I had to come straight home for class. He said he was having flowers delivered on the 12th, since he knew I planned on going out on my birthday. So I waited and waited, no flowers. Then as I'm walking my pup, my Dad calls and says "I Love You, Happy Birthday" which is sweet, but I had just talked to him 15 minutes before and he had to finish work on his computer, so why did he call back? Well then my Dad says "Mom just got off the plane in Denver and is getting on the 5:19pm bus to Boulder, you have to pick her up at the park and ride, Happy Birthday" OMG I was SOOOO HAPPY!!!!! I cried and screamed and kept saying to my Dad. "Are you sure? Are you sure?" The BEST Birthday EVER! and the BEST Tease! She had been planning it since June/July when my brother was here on leave from Iraq. I still can't belive that they all were able to keep it from me. And then on my Birthday, I was awaken in the early morning by athe phone. It was my Brother calling from Iraq, wishing me a Happy Birthday!

What do you do to help you wake up early on BF? merged
BoulderChick replied to BoulderChick's topic in 2007
Thanks for all the input, keep it coming! I'll have to try EvErYtHiNg to stay up. And locate a 24hr Starbucks. GO BUFFS!!! -
Hi Everyone, What do you do to help you wake up early on BF? and/or What do you do to help you stay up for Midnight sales at the outlet malls? Lots of Coffee? Getting to bed very early? or just the motivation of the deals on BF? I would love to hear how you manuever the late nights and early days. I'm in Colorado and when it is dark and cooooold outside I just want to stay in bed, under the covers snuggling with DH and the puppy. And then get up, get Starbucks and head over to the annual Colorado vs Nebraska Football game(kickoff @ 10:30am)

I don't agree with the empty chairs. How would you feel if people put empty chairs out the day before Thanksgiving? You show up for you place in line and there are already 50 chairs. It may not happen now, but that is what its coming to. Heck a few years ago nobody thought anyone would stand in line from 11pm Thanksgiving day just to get a moderatly price television. If you want a place in line you need to make prior arrangements so you can stand in line or do your dinner the day before. Quite frankly I'm amazed that some people will knock someone over, steal from a cart but not move a chair.

Do any of your teachers have pets? If so you could give them a gift for there furry friend. Even make some homemade puppy treats or toys.

Do any of your families live in a snowy area? If so you could pick up a snowball making kit and hot chocolate. Or some inexpensive sleds. TI-84 Graphics Calculator
BoulderChick replied to Dena Neal's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
Check at a Pawn Shop in your area. My husband will check pawn shops for vintage video game systems and he has seen the TI 84 calculators there. He saw them after I purchased mine so we didn't buy one there. But you should check for one for your son. Also contact the school and see if they rent them or know of anyone who does. -

XBOX 360 or Playstation 3????
BoulderChick replied to Dena Neal's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
My husband and I were talking about your post and he wanted me to mention a few things about the Xbox 360. Warranty The Xbox 360 has a 3 year warranty on it. Their customer service is very good and they are easy to talk to. If they are unable to fix your problem over the phone they will send you a postage paid box and you send in your Xbox 360. They will either fix it or replace it free of charge during the warranty. XboxLIVE XboxLive is pretty cool. You will need high speed internet and XboxLive is $49.99 a year or $7.99 a month. Besides just playing games online. You can also download movie trailers and playable game demo's for free. Also you can try for free XboxLive Arcade games and if you like the game and want to play the full version you pay about $5-$10 per game. You can also rent movies on XboxLive and sometimes they have free movies also. As well as television shows. A good gift to go along with the game system you choose is a Blockbuster or other movie store gift card. A lot of them rent games now. They are about $8.00 per game, and this way you can play a game and see if you like it enough to buy. We began doing this after my husband bought a game and didn't like it as much as he thought he would. Then if you trade it in to a game store you barely recieve half of the game price in credit. I hope this helps. Have a good evening! -
XBOX 360 or Playstation 3????
BoulderChick replied to Dena Neal's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
Hi, my husband works with at least 100 boys, ages 17 to 22. They have a lounge with a Wii, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. They play the Xbox 360 all the time, and rarely if ever play the Playstation3. My husband is considering trading/selling the Playstation3 for another Xbox 360. Also the Xbox 360 costs less, so you can pick up the Xbox 360 and games for the same price as just a Playstation3.
