Thanks. Going to look tomorrow.

I wouldn't worry too much about that. My daughter got tired of driving her once and since I didn't want to carry it home from the park I drove her in it. I weigh 190lbs. That was the 2 seater but I'm sure the weight limit shouldn't be a problem for someone weighing 35lbs. in the 1 seater (the one on sale). My guess is it should be able to handle at least 90lbs without breaking.

The doorbusters are usually made specifically for BF sales. They are not typically off the shelf items normally carried in the store. On a rare occation they will just get rid of older computers that way, but how wou they be able to guarantee a minimum per store on an item that is no longer made? Last year I got a Toshiba top for $229 at Best Buy and it is one of the best laptops I've ever seen, except only a 32 bit graphics card. The Toshiba for $548 looks pretty good but not the best deal out there. The Turion is newer and faster and it comes with a webcam (although they are cheap on BF for about $10).

Barbie Diamond Castle Doll $5 Barbie Surf's Up Cruiser $10 PJs $4 Dinnerwa$19 Nerf Air Tech $10 My Size Barbie $35 Hot Wheels 10 pk $5 Power Wheels Jeep $88 Lightsaber $10 Not sure what will be left since I have too many other places to go. I doubt I'll get the Power Wheels. After Best Buy I have to stop home to drop off the computers, then go to Staples, Sears, Lowes, Macy's (kicking and screaming the whole way, but my wife is going to Best Buy all night with me so I'll give in), JCP (I'll try getting out of this one too, lol. Heck all the stores are within 2 miles of my house except Walmart so that'got to be my last stop, if I bother.

Luckily my kids aren't too addicted. My oldest one is 10 and I have not even given her the password for her email account. For the most part the younger ones go onto Nick.com or NickJr.com and play some games. The 10 year old has already typed reports for school and e-mailed homework to her teacher, etc. Her class doesn't even get take home homework, the teacher gave them a link to get their homework and posts it each day. Everything now is computers. It's getting cold here now but I still make them go outside for an hour a day minimum. They enjoy going out though to play on the swings, trampoline, go-kart, bikes, etc. That's the one thing I love about the country rather than the city.:)

They are "officially" released Monday. Unfortuneately the only way I ever get the ads is to buy the paper on Thursday morning. Where I used to live they would deliver them but where I am now they don't bother. I may try getting one at the stores on Monday before I go in for surgery. Just my luck huh? Having surgery Monday and then standing on line starting Thursday in 28 degree weather, only to have people try trampling me on Friday morning.

The HP is an incredibly powerful system. 6GB RAM, 640GB HD, quad core.... fast as hell. If you're into gaming this is defineately the system for you. It's a lot of machine for the money. I believe it was you who said you had a friend go last year. Ask anyone who's on line that was there last year where to go in your store. All stores have a similar layout but not all of them have a dedicated register that has a door to the store room. Another store I went to a few years back had to leave his register to get the items from the back. I believe most now have the registers connected to the store room, at least here they do.
-
The best move is if you have others with you someone get right on the checkout line while the others get the non-ticketed items. As long as you have the ticket you should be ok unless they do what I heard some stores are doing which is if it is not picked up by 8am they redistribute the tickets not claimed. If you have the ticket you have a 100% cance of getting the item. In my store they actually put the number of the ticket and match it to the item. For example if you have ticket G19 for the $229 laptop than they hold that laptop with the G19 until YOU claim it. You will have to rush to get some of the hotter non-ticket items though. If you are not on the checkout line quick though you could be waiting for 1 or 2 hours on the checkout line but your item will be held. In most cases you go to the customer service desk for ticketed items not a regular register. The items are held in the back stock room, not on the floor where others can get it.

Good. I don't think Best Buy wants that kind of mass confusion either. At my location they appreciate that we handle a lot of organizing the line, making the lists, stopping the cutters, etc. Yeah, there is no nee to get into fights unless someone cuts you and then gets the item you were waiting for and you don't get it. Being first that would really annoy me if that happened but it is more organized in my store. Walking down the line with tickets is how they did it 2 years ago. I didn't like it as much but as long as it was handled fair it does work unless everyone tries rushing the front.

Before I moved to this area where I go now, the old BB I went to there was alot more pickpocketing, fights etc. Where I am now it has come close, mostly people trying to muscle their way into the line at the last minute but we plan ahead for it and those in the entrance section (as on the video near the main entrance there is more room than on the line itself) are the ones we put on the list. Once the line starts forming on the sidewalk we stop the list but put some of the larger guys on the line to block anyone from getting into that section. We are rather organized compared to most Best Buys and they let us into the mall (not the store) at about 4am and hand out the tickets as we go through the hall leading to the mall itself. In a mass confusion like on the video I would say try to be respectful and not push until you see the item is almost sold out. If you were on line in enough time to deserve the ticket and someone pushed past you, I would push right back and grab the ticket. I would also try finding a new location that is more organized in the future, lol.

What brand? Sounds like a real nice system for that price. The $479 one at Best Buy doesn't specify webcam so I assume it doesn't include it. Than again it doesn't say DL DVD but since that is pretty much standard I think it will be but regardless I want it. Also that is 17" and the Best Buy is 15.4" so if someone is looking to use it for watching movies sounds real good. Maybe that could reduce my competition at BB on BF, lol.

In a system like that are they going to allow one ticket for each if for example I wanted 3 different tvs? Last year I bought 2 different laptops with no problem since they were each 1 per customer. Shouldn't be a problem but just asking if they will be giving a hard time if people want more of the same type of, but different items. Also in the past it's not always just doorbuster items. Most of the desktops, laptops, and tvs are ticketed. Pretty much all the ones listed with a minimum for each store. It would suck if I'm the first on line (which I will be) and while I'm getting the other items not ticketed I lose out on the $479 Toshiba laptop because someone went right on line instead of buying any other items first. Best Buy wants people to buy other items since they lose money on each doorbuster, and many other items listed for low prices. If Best Buy doesn't ticket the $479 laptop I'll just get right on line and leave instead of spending the $2000 or so I'm planning to. I know some of the items I am planning will not be ticketed (Pinnacle tuner $$59.99, Microsoft optical mouse, etc) and I will not get back in line after I make my purchases. You're wrong on just the doorbuster items being ticketed, I've been doing this for many years at Best Buy.
-
I understand what you're saying about people taking them and not wanting them, that is wrong, but I think it will cause too much confusion especially if they don't warn people ahead of time. Oh, and it's not just doorbusters that they have tickets for. They also have for some of the other hot items that are limited. The $479 laptop for example is not a doorbuster but I'm sure it will be ticketed. As of right now that is the main item I am going for this year. I also found out that there will be a $229 laptop (a doorbuster that has always been ticketed in the past) that I intend to get as well. Last year the Sony Vaio wasn't a doorbuster (for $399) but I got the ticket for it, and yes I purchased it. Selling tickets is wrong and they will throw you off the line or arrest you if you get caught. It falls under scalping laws, at least where I am, and if caught you will get arrested, have your tickets taken back, and be thrown off the line. Anyone planning to try it feel free but make sure you have someone available to bail you out if the cops catch you.

11/23 Best Buy TOSHIBA Laptop 499.97 with Antivirus and Slipcase!
TazErase replied to allshoppedout's topic in 2008
Sounds like a very good deal for the price, but BF for $479 you get a 4G 260g HD. Not much of a difference but from past experience I know the BF deals are the best. They are probably saving on some of the other internals not mentioned such as maybe a dvd writer but not a DL dvd writer, less powerful video card (the most common way they save money), and other things I can't tell until I know all the specs on both systems. I'm going to be on line any way so I'm going to wait it out. As far as the desktop deal. The eMachines for $299 has 640 G HD and 2G RAM. Even with the external you only get 500 G HDs. The eMachine also has a free Canon printer, although I'm disappointed it's not the all-in-one printer they usually give free with computers. -

Best Buy Black Friday Ticket System, FAQ and Sample Ticket
TazErase replied to bigjimslade's topic in 2008
We make a list here too. Makes it so much easier and Best Buy respects the list and appreciates that we do it and make it much more orderly than it had been years past before we started lists. We are actually let into the mall where they hand out the tickets as you enter the hallway to the mall. The person who made the list reads off the names and Best Buy makes sure we enter as our name is called. The only thing that sucks is even though my nephew stayed on line all night with me, they would not give him the tickets for the items my sister asked him to get because he wasn't an adult (12 at the time). I was able to get him some of the tickets I wasn't going for myself but even though he saved up himself for the laptop they would not give him one -
I've had heard it but don't expect it to be better than BF.

Yeah as long as you don't "go to the bathroom" for 4 hours, lol. I would say try to show your face on the line at least once every hour or so. Not too much of a pickpocteting problem here it is known to happen. I keep my money and wallet in a zippered up breast pocket inside my jacket to be safe. As far as the YouTube video, looks pretty accurate for some stores. Our store lets you in through a mall entrance and gives out the tickets as go through the door into the mall. The store itself doesn't open until 5am though. As far as people cutting, every year people try cutting. We have a list that the first 50-80 people write their name on and BB verifies that the list is accurate with some of the peole in front and has someone read off the names and letsm enter as their name is called. I already have this years sign up sheet prepared, lol. When people try cutting that is the first way to reduce it. The other, and one of my favorites is finding some of the biggest guys on line and point out who cut them. They take care of the problem themselves. The cutters aren't stupid enough to cut too far up (in the first 20 or so USUALLY) so it is not my problem to deal with since I am on the list and on a bad year still in the first 20 or so. When they give out the tickets everyone tries advancing their place on line in hopes of getting the tickets. The people in the front usually form a barricade on the outter perimeter from the parking lot with about 10 big guys not letting them through. Best Buy doesn't really care too much about who got their when, we have to police it ourselves for the most part and BB knows we have been making the list for years so they know we do our part to keep it as orderly as possible and they appreciate it.

If those are the items you want I can tell you what is rumored and what items I would recommend. There will be a $229.98 Toshiba laptop. I'm not completely sure but there will prob be a $199 eMachines desktop (rumored from past BB ads), if not the $299 eMachines is looking excellent. The $299 is a small profile desktop (10.7"X5.4"X15" I believe), much smaller than a full size (usually 16"X7X16 approx.) It has 18.4" monitor rather than the 15" I expect the $199 system to have. Probably more RAM and HD space as well. Even if they have the $199 I am probably still going to get the $29 system. Also I would look at the 42" Samsung for $499 or the 22" Sharp for $349. Pretty easy to help you with that. Those are the items I am planning to get as well. Only differences I have to stand in line for over 20 hours to get mine, lol. Congrats again on winning!!

Sorry to have stated the obvious but wanted to make it clear. I am glad to help out others and I would rather state the obvious than to have someone get upset that didn't realize and then gets upset that I didn't state it. You plan sounds pretty good as long as you are not too far, but if you mom plans to eat TG dinner have her get in line for a while first and then go, and don't say she's going to have dinner, that would PO a lot of people, just have her say she has to go to the bathroom, when she gets back tell her to hold your spot while you go to the bathroom. As far as dinner I bring tons of coffe and donuts. If you have to go to the bathroom I don't think any have a bathroom outside. Last year we go tlucky, they were doing construction and had a porta-potty in the parking lot. Usually we go home or a dinner that is 24hrs to go. Luckily I'm under 5 minutes away so I usually run home, let my dogs out for a few and run back. I rarely leave the line for more than about 20 minutes at a time, and NEVER after about 2am. Anyone that even appears to walk near the front of the line and cross the parking lot to the curb gets screamed at from the others in line unless they saw you going just to put your chairs in the car (which I usually do around 3AM). When I do get off line for the bathroom I have another car I use and leave the van with the bed in it in the first spot in the parking lot.
-
What I would recommend is when you get there all of you get on the line. Let the people a know you are all there together and stay on line for a while so they know your faces when you come back. Also when you anyone gets off the line let the people behind you know that they are only going to the cao warm up for a little bit, or to find a bathroom, so they are aware of your faces and know how many there were on line and make sure they know you will be back. would say always leave at least 2 on the line, it gets very boring being on line by yourself. Switch it up every hour or so and don't ever all get off line at the same time. Also if you make friends with some of the people around you they will remember you better. In most cases as long as you are not leaving other than to go to the bathroom they understand how cold it gets. We do the same thing here. My wife spends most of the time in the car while I freeze but I leave her chair there so they know she is there and I'll letfriends on line know she was cold and going to the car to warm up. After a few years you get familiar with the faces of the people that show up early since it's usually the same people year after year.

I can understand the reason for it although unless they explain it ahead of time it could be difficult to know what items they even have tickets for. Am I supposed to stand the for 10 minutes reading from a list and then locating the employee that has the ticket I am looking for? What if the item I want doesn't hve a ticket because I don't remember the price and the exact item? Will they give me an ad to show them what items I want tickets for? Doubt it. So they won't tell you what items are ticketed but they are not telling the public? That is going to hold up the line so bad they will probably put a stop to it by next year. I only hope they are not planning to do that in my store. I usually know what I want but I don't have a list in front of me. Not that it should matter to me since I am going to be firt on line, but how will the people further back know what tickets are gone if they won't tell you what tickets are available? Do they read of their list and not have the available tickets and then just not get the ticket for the other items that they wanted to replace the item not available because they didn't tell them they wanted that ticket quick enough? Sounds like a fair idea if they let everyone know ahead of time but not to just surprise a few stores with this new policy. I'll make sure my group is ready, and it won't be too big of a problem since we will have our choice being the first on line. That is unless someone else decided=s to beat last years time by 5 1/2hrs earlier like I'm planning. As far as it being busier this year, there are 2 ways to look at it. The cheap items will go faster than usual, such as the cheap laptops and desktops. I would not be surpised if once a lot of people realize they are not going to get those items they may just go someplace else. Everyone is hurting financially so they will get there earlier than usual for the best deals but once the line gets too big I would expect less people to show and stay on the line. I plan to be earlier than ever for this reason since I am going for the top doorbusters.
-
Yes. From what I read it is 4 seperate doorbusters which is why even if I had won I would have to find a way to still get on the line with my friends who are getting the other items. Between the group of us that are going we are getting at least 4 laptops but we have at least 4 adults (they don'tl et kids get the tickets here). As far asthe laptops, if you were able to get more, give the kids each one, lol. Each of my kids have their own computer. The youngest was 2 when he got his computer. Luckily I know how to repair them or it wouldn't be such a smart idea, lol. You'd be crazy not to get at least one of the laptops though. They are excellent. My 4 year old has the one I got last year.

Magnavox is pretty good. Not familar with Vizio so I'll have to just listen to their opinions on it which sounds like it's a good tv. With electronics I usually try to stay with proven brands that have a good reputation and will stand behind their product.
