  1. I am not interestd in going to any store that is open on Thanksgiving! I used to go to Kmart in the early morning, but then I figured I was just a hypocrite by running up there for the sales and then criticizing stores for being open. So, if I can shop on my laptop, great. If not, then I will see about Friday morning. I won't even go to my new mall for a midnight opening. I want Black Friday and Cyber Monday to still be something special. I also worry about the deals not being great because I have done a ton of shopping so far and gotten some really great deals. I will have to make my spreadsheets to ensure that I actually need to shop on BF.
  2. This is a great way to generate participation. I have been very busy and not on the boards until today but I definitely am motivated to participate more in order to win this prize! Way to go Gotta Deal. That is why I love this site.
  3. Definitely these! Two of them. For 15 year old boys who have the wired beats but want more portability and ease of use. So, wireless beats it is! I truly hope these go on sale for BF. Last year, Beats went on sale the week after for 1/2 price so hopefully some retailers will do that again. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Beats-By-Dre-POWERBEATS-2-BLACK-Wireless-Bluetooth-In-Ear-Headphones-NEW-SEALED-/271647923866?pt=US_Headphones&hash=item3f3f7a5e9a
  4. I pledge to stick around until next year...Just not sure my funds will hold out with all these deals!
  5. Are these available on-line, or are these in store only? I was just about to place a Kohl's order today but now I think I will wait a week and just jump on some of these deals. They look pretty good.
  6. I would love deal on the headphones that are the Beats by Dr. Dre. Maybe a sale on soccer clothing and equipment (bag/cleats). My son is going to be 14 so he is hard to shop for.
  7. My favorite thing about Black Friday is the excitement building up to it! The preparations, the planning, the logistics of which store/when. I think that anticipation might be bigger than the actual event!
  8. Target in Springfield, VA had tons of matchbox cars marked 50% off at .64. There were some other items like cars seats, car seat covers, and ball blower for babies. The Halloween items are pretty picked over but candy is 50% including the Snickers halloween bars. (Look in the traditional candy aisle not the Halloween section. There is a display back there with tons of bars.) Costumes are 50% but it looked like they were consolidating the aisles last night. Probably to make room for Xmas.
  9. Attempt #1: Shopping, I must do! Saving money is a must! GottaDeal daily helps. Attempt #2: Day after eating, Black Friday a tradition Christmas will be fun.
  10. You asked for comments so here goes: I REFUSED to ruin my Thanksgiving by hitting any stores for their early open time. For that reason, I internet shopped on Turkey Day and hit my first store (JC Penney) at 4:00 am. I have to say that the fact that so many people shopped on Thanksgiving night made the crowds very light in the 4 am - 8 am shift. I was able to hit 13 stores with no lines, no problems. BUT I did notice that the sales people were either tired or cranky because many had to get to work so early. And many of the stores still had some of their deals (TV's at Target) even at 7 - 8 am. That didn't used to happen when stores opened at 5 am. I also have started to receive cancellation notices for a few items that I ordered on Thanksgiving. BOO to retailers for not having correct inventory numbers. Now, I have missed the door buster prices and don't have internet order either. Not cool. And Boo for the stores that act like you are a criminal when you have store coupons or rewards that you want to use. Shout out to the employees at Gymboree who embraced the use of the coupons and still made sure you got the 30% extra off.
  11. My favoritie thing about Black Friday is the snow globes at JC Penney's and stopping by Starbucks for a warm latte right before I hit my last three stores.
  12. Thanks for the information. I understand much better now.
  13. Staying up is only one thing...possibly using more than one computer is a necessity. Some of the sites get bogged down and they move really slowly when everyone is online trying to order. Better to be able to order from two companies at once. My laptop had trouble with the Toys R Us site last year. I used my desk top while the TRU order as processing. Try to get some sleep though...You don't want to tire yourself out and go into labor for some deals.
  14. As a previous poster mentioned, there are great toy sales on Amazon AFTER black friday. People will start a thread in the online deals section and you will see tons of deals listed. YOu might get more bang for your buck by purchasing then. Unless there is a specific toy your child wants that is on sale for Black Friday week. I agree with the others that being a prime member is a plus for these Amazon sales.
  15. I have a couple of questions. First, I understand that I might not have enough history here to participate but I joined before May 2011 so I hope I can. I have Ebay feedback so maybe that will boost my eligibility. My question is about the ornament exchange. Is there any criteria for the ornament you send? For example, do people ask for ornaments that compliment their themes on their trees? Or if you indicate no glass ornaments will someone honor that? Also, what exactly is an elf? Does that mean that people get stiffed every year? If they do, is there a way to post who failed to send you a present so they can be "outed" for their bad conduct. In the interests of full disclosure, I want to participate in the gift exchange, the ornament exchange and maybe as an elf, too.
  16. I got a pair of the shoes. They are black suede pumps with a gray and brown pattern on the toe. Subtle enough zig zag that I can wear them with things to work. I bought my two year old daughter a pair of the rain boots and I really wanted the floral trench and matching tights, sweater and shirt for her. I think the purple pattern is really cute for a little girl. I am not willing to pay Ebay prices though. They had the coat in stock at my Target but without the other pieces it lacks the impact. Maybe someone will return some... The items are a little pricier than what I usually buy for her though so I have to think about it if I see something.
  17. Yes, I can confirm that at least two BB's in Northern Virginia had them this morning. I was second in line at my BB. There was a line of about 20 folks. The employee opens the door at 10:00 am, whispers to the couple in front of me (the first people in line) that they should go to Customer Service. I ask if that is where we should go for the HP's and he won't answer me. I follow the couple, see an employee with a HP at Customer Service. The couple pays for it. It gets bagged and handed to them. Then ALL the employees turn around and tell all of us that are waiting that they only had 1. And they just sold it to that couple. Did not even make sense unless all the employees bought them up! It just seemed like everything was just for that couple...10:01 and there was nothing left of the HP's that they supposedly just got on the truck... Well, the BB down the street was getting 70 of them. At 10 am, they already had 50 people in line. By 11:30 they had 150 people in line. They said that their truck was arriving at about 1:00 pm and they wouldn't give out vouchers or tickets because some stock has been "disappearing" (words of the manager). There was no way that I could get in line all day so I officially gave up!
  18. I had a better experience with my order. I bought three of these outfits but to save on shipping, I went to the store and ordered them. They came to my house no problem and no shipping charges. I also just bought some appliances from them and had no problem. BUT I recently tried to order something from them on their website and after four frustrating tries that took multiple re-entries of item, name, address, billing, etc. it never worked!!! I ended up just giving up. I will go to the store to place my order tomorrow.
  19. We went to a locally owned butcher shop and purchased a TON of meat and then we went to a local party store (not a chain one like Party City). We also bought something at the Christian bookstore. I did go to a few big stores, too, but we made sure to shop at least some local stores. I like this idea!
  20. Thanks so much!!! With the codes I got 5 items for my baby girl for $21 shipped. GREAT DEAL!!!! Can't beat that anywhere else. Old Navy is advertising their fleece for $7 for babies this week.
  21. I love the charts which list out the tvs, details, prices, etc. I am confused, however, about the column titled ports. Can anyone please tell me what HDMI, composite and component ports are and how many I should be looking for in a 40" TV? I was looking at the Target 40" for my kids use for a Wii, but they are also getting an Xbox Kinect and the TV would have Fios cable, too. Any port help is appreciated.
  22. I got one!!!! Thanks for posting this. My son is a 6th grader who is doing more and more on the computer these days. With his need for something, I am glad that I was able to get him this netbook and the price is good (great). Plus I ordered the red one since it is his favorite color. I am so excited!!! I was worried about being able to get a netbook for a decent price. Now if i can just get that 40" TV from Target next week....
  23. I have the same questions you have because I need a netbook that has the same functionality that you are looking for. Internet, power point, excel, word, etc. for a 12 year old boy. I would be interested in installing the microsoft suite on a netbook but I am so confused if I need a laptop instead. I don't even know how the netbooks work!
