Where did you get your realistic reasonably priced artificial tree?
jesusluvu replied to burberryplaid's topic in 2016
I am going to try the Home Depot sale. I would like a new one myself, but the last one I bought it was after Christmas and 50% off at Walmart, but if you need one now that would not help. -
I tell them everytime they call I will not be voting for them but they keep calling. The last time they called i started reading bible versus until they finally hung up. If I get some leaked ads before I will start asking them about the deals. My time my rules.

LOL - My mom always have cooked big, as our family is big. It is really strange but if she cooks a smaller meal it doesn't taste the same but if she buy up the store it is on. I always fall asleep in her bed even at my age after I eat a big meal at home. Can you send me a sample - you just to make sure you haven't lost your touch... I can get with this one Pound Cake -- drooling -- ummmm can you ship a few slices

Thats just at my moms then you have my in laws There will be about 30 people at my moms and about the same at my in laws.
-
I guess it would be my in laws. They have everything or live a simple type life so what I do for the Holidays and Birthdays I give them an experience. Maybe dinner and a play or a concert or a simple weekend vacation. It sounds pricey but if you shop around you can get something fairly reasonable and for 2 people you can't beat it.

I remember one year they started having a special sale only on Fridays leading up to Black Friday. Walmart, Target and a few other stores did this. Had some pretty good deals but most of the Walmarts was clueless about them in my area.

Yes, Kmart and I was there for about 8 hours. I wanted this TV that was on sell and I knew they would only have about 3 so I had to get it, but to my surprise they open the door and came out to pass out the slips for the items and the TV that was in the paper did not come in. I flipped out ... They gave a rain check for when it arrived that I could get it at the BF price ( which was a few weeks later ) but I sat in line to get it that day..

Okay, I am waiting in expectancy

I am still excited but I understand where you are coming from. Every year I get pumped up for the ads and then they disappoint, but then I have to remember that I am doing this not just for the thrill but for the smiling faces on CHRISTmas morning. Yes the early openings killed it for me as well but my philosophy was if I miss it I miss it, but I would not miss the family time, I can always get another gift but can never get back the family time that I would lose. With my kids getting older it is harder to get them something that would surprise them and not brake the bank. When I could get the baby alive dolls or some silly toy it was great and still makes my cry when I think of there utter joy when opening it. That is what keeps me excited those memories, the sacrifices of sitting in the cold wrapped in a blanket knowing if I moved to much I would have to go to the bathroom..... but the thing that brings me the most joy is knowing the true reason for the Season and how that forever changed my life and the world. So enjoy the season and make the best of what you have and who you have.

Love the suggestions. I remember one year I was "THAT GUY" that held up the line trying everything to get the card to swipe - plastic bag, between receipt paper I was so embarrassed...Then I hear some guy yelling and talking noise in the back about the line moving slow and come to find out it was by cousin so he came up and paid for my stuff until we got to the ATM...... I had a buggy full of door busters too and if I left it they would have been gone in 2 minutes ---- Now I carry cash not only to not overspend but to make sure I have no problems checking out.
