I just looked it myself, and everyone is right ,this is worse then their weekly ad. They are trying to get Best Buy loyalists to shop, but hopefully no one is silly enough to fall for the double points gimmick.

It's on sale, which means its probably good through the weekend, at that price I'm sure they are selling like crazy. It's unadvertised except on the website, so it could end at anytime.

Just found the Officemax netbook you mentioned. Typical netbook specs, terrible battery however, which renders the point of a netbook useless, as you'll need your charger with you all the time. Now that I saw Officemax's, I could potentially see Best Buy pulling out an Acer netbook of their own, but really, no way I could see any real netbook under that price (that Kmart junk in a box don't count). If they do, I'll be absolutely shocked, and there would be the biggest mob ever in line to get one. Don't need one though personally, as my phone with Android is my portable computer of choice.

Panasonic plasmas are rated to last 100,000 hours. At 50,000 hours you might start to see the screen brightness lower, but in average use, that's 15 years from now, and 30 years till life of the tv would most likely end. It's a myth that plasma don't last as long. Plasmas have better motion for sports and action movies, and better contrast and colors. LCD's only advantage is higher brightness, which is only good if you plan to place the tv in a room full of windows.

Best Buy is now offering a 42" Panasonic Plasma and the Insignia 42" LCD both for $498 to compete with the Sharp at Wal-Mart The Panny is 200 dollars off, the cheapest it has ever been. Panasonic is a far better quality brand then Sharp, which are known for poor quality and reliability. The Insignia is Best Buy's brand, but comes with a 2 year warranty, and are built with similar parts as the Sharp. Couple options to look at for those looking for a cheap 40" to 42".

There won't be any netbook cheaper then $199, even $149 is pushing it. Netbooks already have no margin, I don't see the benefit of having one so far below cost, Best Buy wouldn't do it. If anything, we'll see some type of package deal on a netbook with a case and a dvd drive. No Best Buy employee outside of the corporate office will know what's in our BF ad until its leaked online. Best Buy is super tight lipped on this, to the point even the general manager's are not told a thing till the last couple weeks before BF. If you work there you can guess what will be in the ad based on what is coming off the trucks, but there is no way to know the price.

I haven't heard of any special sales this year, but the trend seems to be Best Buy reacts to other competitors pricing, not be the leader, so I don't expect them to have anything hidden up their sleeves this year. If a tv or blu ray player goes super cheap at Wal-Mart for example, expect Best Buy to match them, or beat them ASAP, Best Buy wants to be considered to have the lowest price on all electronics, so they will be making price moves at a constant rate.

Mos of the items Best Buy has in their ad will be online, except for a few door buster deals. Most tv's you should be able to buy online, but there is usually a couple store only models for Black Friday that won't appear online, but most of the other deals will be there. Yes, they will deliver your tv if you order online. Last 2 years I did all my BF shopping on Bestbuy.com the day before, there wasn't anything I couldn't find while buying online.

Any tv show when watching full screen will be in a 4:3 ratio, which of course does not fill the whole screen. The same is true with any size tv and any brand. Thus why when many people are looking to replace a 26 or 27 inch tv, a sales man will always recommend a 32 or larger, since full screen video will have black bars on the sides, and provides a "smaller" picture.

I had a chance to take a look at the TomTom 125 at Best Buy, they are now selling it. From what I could tell it was nearly an exact copy of the other models in that price range, but have a MapShare feature where you can edit your maps, and share with other TomTom 125 users. It's selling for $179 at Best Buy currently.

The Blu-Ray player is junk, Best Buy sells the same model under the Insignia name, and it performs far worse then any Samsung or Sony Blu-Ray player. It is very slow and unresponsive, and does a poor job in playing, and lacks many useful features other players have. The $179 player from Sears is the best deal going on Blu-Ray players right now. The Sony 350 model has excellent video and sound quality, and has BD Live for connecting to the Internet for updates and extra content. Hopefully Best Buy will react and will drop the price on the Sony player for Black Friday as well, to give everyone a chance to get one.

My experience is computers on sale in this ad, regardless if they are a doorbuster or not, tend to sell fast, and usually in low supply. I doubt you'd have ot be there at 5am for it, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a computer sell out by noon. To answer your other question, only the front page is doorbuster deals.

No, it was not in the ad, it was listed on their website Thanksgiving week, and I believe there was a commercial or two promoting it, as well as the cheap name brand tv's they were offering.

Brad probably knows for sure, but was 12am Wednesday, but I can't remember if that was eastern or central time. I do remember it took a little while for the prices to start showing up on the website, but the website ran real well during the sale, I didn't have any issues navigating the website, and 0 errors.

The Vista upgrade program was a special case because the computers being sold did not have Vista already preinstalled. Best Buy does not do rebates, they quit offering mail in rebates a couple years ago.

Last year their monitor deals were definitely online, but one of the first items to sell out during the Midnight Sale on Thanksgiving day.

I believe the ad has some very good deals, but not on big ticket items. They got a good price on the Garmin 260w, some good movie deals, and some real cheap accessories. The latop deals are good as well. The people usually complaining about no good deals are the ones looking for a laptop under 300 dollars, or a name brand plasma for 600, but why waste print space for cheap junk that will sell out in minutes, when they can advertise products that they actually make some profit off of, like the laptop bundles. Best Buy's print ads usually offer better quality products, and they tend to save all the blowout doorbuster deals for unadvertised specials listed on their website. It seemed to work last year, the lines were enormous at stores, I can't forget the Youtube videos from last November of the huge lines and pushing and shoving to get in the stores. Yet, last year everyone complained about Best Buy's ad up till the day before Thanksgiving. It seems like a repeat is about to happen.

In one of the ad scans a lot of the blu-ray movies and tv seasons shows at great prices are barely shown, but they are there. I was surprised not to see the HBO in this ad, but it has become a yearly tradition to put those all on sale, so I wouldn't give up hope just yet.

I just noticed the TV show and Blu-Ray movie deals which is easily missed on the ad scans. Thsoe are some good deals I'll get on Thanksgiving Day on their website. I need Office Season 3, and all of House seasons.

The Toshiba for $379 is a pretty good deal if you are looking for something with a little power, and not waste time and money upgrading. The sale price is far better then any laptop discount I've seen in recent memory, and the Toshiba's are great quality. Yes, it isn't dirt cheap, but it's something that will last for a college student for years. The bundle deal isn't too bad for a complete solution either.

I believe they changed to 1 per household not that long ago. They have no way of verifying if you both live in the same household, so I wouldn't worry about it, as long as you are using a credit card in different names.

Everyone who shops BB during the holidays knows the best BF deals from Best Buy are announced the last week before Thanksgiving with unadvertised doorbusters that will be posted on their website. They've been doing it for a couple years now, and I have no doubt we'll see some crazy deals come across that everyone will be itching to buy. Their ad nearly always is nothing exciting, they save some of the best stuff till last minute so it doesn't leak out to their competitors.
