  1. I read it in the weekly newspaper that was delivered last night. Most of the other kids had small gifts in mind--dinosaur toys, Barbies, etc. One kid just said "please bring me a present" LOL. There were a few asking for Xboxes but I think mine was the only one wanting a computer. I asked him about it, about why he hadn't said anything about it before, and he said he did, he told Santa he wanted one. I guess he knew he wouldn't be getting one from me, LOL. All your reasons are why he's not going to be getting one...I just hope he's still excited about everything he does get.
  2. Anything from Santa that is really big/needing assembly, I will assemble and leave unwrapped. Smaller stuff gets wrapped in Santa themed wrapping paper and I do that when I wrap everything else.
  3. The paper here on post publishes a section of Christmas greetings to soldiers, and a section of kids' Christmas wishes, each year around this time. Since my oldest is now in kindergarten I thought I'd page through and see if his class was featured. It was! His entry says "I have been good. I want a computer for Christmas. I will be watching for you." Ok, he's gone from wanting T-Rex Mountain (which he is getting, but for his bday) to Star Wars stuff and a scooter (which he is getting)...to a computer??? Apparently he has told Santa this too. Ok, there is NO way he is getting a computer for Christmas. Not only is it laughably out of our budget, but the kids are just too young and destructive to have something like a computer for themselves. They can play their games on my computer but that's it. He doesn't want a toy one, either; he wants one so that he can play his computer games on it whenever he wants to (um, I'm online a lot ) ...and sorry but that is NOT happening. So now I have to find a way to convince him that he doesn't want a computer. LOL--if I simply say that a computer isn't happening, even from Santa, no matter how much I tell him that beforehand he will still be disappointed when he doesn't get it. So I have to make him not want it. Argh. Kids! Don't most kids want some relatively cheap toy for Christmas? What 5-year-old wants a computer?
  4. Ohhhhh...that's right...they merged with Kinko's. Darn it, that is right by the mall, where I just was an hour ago! I don't want to drive all the way back down there...shoot...I'm going to have to calculate and see if it's worth it. I *so* don't want to take the kids across town again.
  5. The last time I calculated postage/shipping, it said that UPS was cheaper than the mail. So I went there...and wound up being charged $2 more than the website said for shipping that took 6 days, instead of the 4 days the website said! So I am not in a hurry to go back. I have no clue where a FedEx even is around here. I'm not going to go across town looking for one, either. There is a post office and a UPS store on post so it's one or the other. I wish there was a FedEx on post though as I've heard they are much cheaper than a person tends to expect them to be.
  6. Haven't they been doing that for a long time, though? I'm always asked for my phone number and asked to show ID when I do returns. I don't return very often though so I doubt it'll ever be a problem for me.
  7. I don't, but my mom staples each card to a strip of wide decorative ribbon that is hung from the top of the front door (inside). She usually winds up with 3 ribbons down to the floor. :) Edit: LMAO, I used the verb "staple" and it turned it into the store name.
  8. Christmas is in five days! ACK! I've been shopping since October and I still am not done. Have to buy for my mom and dad TODAY and get my boxes out. At this point they have to be shipped priority so they'll get there. ARGH. I just hate last-minute shopping. I haven't even made cookies yet. What happened to December? It's almost all gone already! And I've made no plans yet for my oldest's birthday--he will be 6 on New Year's Eve. Gotta get crackin'...
  9. Yes, if your thread is a repost it will get merged with the original thread on the topic. If you do a search before posting something you will hopefully be able to see if your topic has been posted already. It's really easy for the forum to get cluttered up if there are, say, 5 different threads on just one topic, and it's hard to find info you're looking for if it's in one thread but not the 4 others. Much easier to just have one thread per topic, than many about the exact same thing.
  10. That actually made me more inclined to buy them, LOL. I did make sure to look at the large view and zoom in to really get a good look, and there were a few that I'd considered that the larger view made me not buy. But overall they seem perfect for me. They look cute and the quality appears good enough to have on display yet they don't look exquisite, so they'll be OK to have in the house with the kids. It's pretty much either buy cheaper ones or none at all...so these work for me. I'm saving the "nice" stuff for when the kids are older.
  11. Great prices, thanks! I won't feel too bad if these get broken during upcoming moves or by one of the kids, because they don't look all that expensive, but they still look quite cute. :)
  12. Okay, HERE is the thread I was trying to find earlier. I got my confirmation email about the Senseo "drop the drip" campaign today. I sent in a pic of my 2-year-old using a coffeepot to pour cat food into the cat dish. :) And...this is actually an old coffeemaker we don't use anymore. I bought a replacement (better model with built-in timer) that is currently in use. I put the cat food in the old one. I tried to sell it at a yard sale but of course nobody wanted it LOL, so I brought it back in and hadn't gotten around to just throwing it away yet. So I didn't actually have to put cat food in my current coffeemaker.
  13. Probably too late now, but:http://www.gottadeal.com/Stores Click on the JC Penney link. :)
  14. Usually the fine print on the 20% off LnT coupon (on their ad insert in the Sunday paper) excludes Dyson, along with various other brands. Today it doesn't. Still excludes various other brands; I'm not sure if others are normally listed and aren't today as well. I remember a member here was able to buy a Dyson and save about $100 by using that 20% off coupon. :) The coupon expires Dec 24th.
  15. You should have put "alcoholic anything" as a choice too. Since that isn't there, I voted for mixed drinks.
  16. Online the weekly ad says 25 cards but I called the store and they said 200, and at the men's department. My kindergartener just ripped the knee of yet another pair of pants today so I think I'm going to need to head down there and use the card(s) we get on some pants for him.
  17. I did that too. I wonder what is involved in having your picture approved though--or how long it takes them to let you know if yours was.
  18. I'm always in the mood to shop, LOL. As far as buying things for relatives I don't see often, I just shop at stores that they have back there and include a gift receipt. That way I've done my best to pick something out but if it's just not something they want or if it doesn't fit, etc. they can take it back.
  19. Well, it depends on your income...for me, that's an insane amount of money and I won't be spending anywhere near that much on my kids, dh, and all relatives combined. I can't picture you as a college student making more than we're pulling in, but I don't know. The Army doesn't pay much. You're definitely quite generous! Are you including your BB bucks and other discounts in that total, or is that $1500 all out of pocket?
  20. And I have to say it's a darn good thing I *love* this jacket. When the too-small one came and I tried it on, it looked even better in person than it did in the picture online. Which is good, because after going to this much trouble to get it, I'm going to be wearing it every day for years!
  21. WHEW!!! Okay. What has happened is a new order has been placed, at the regular price, but a partial refund has also been requested bringing the total back down to the sale price and then a bit under that for my trouble. Unfortunately the email they sent to me to notify of this hasn't made it to me yet. So I had no way of knowing there was a refund of $23.something involved in this order. The guy on the phone said that I will see a charge for the full $62.something on my card but within 2-3 days I will get a credit for the refunded amount of $23.something, so all in all, my total paid will be the low amount. I feel SO much better now that I know what's going on. I don't quite understand why they have to charge me the full amount upfront and then refund part of it...that seems strange...but whatever, it's ending well and thankfully I have money in the bank to cover the full $62.something they're charging up front. So it's ended well but geez, they need to work on their communication! I wonder how long it will take that email to get to me. He was reading it to me off his screen so apparently it's been sent--I don't normally have email take long to get to me though so that's kinda weird that I still haven't gotten anything.
  22. OMG!!! I am going to KILL someone at Target!!!!! I haven't heard back from them about getting a size Large jacket at the sale price. I just checked my Target account and they have ordered me a large jacket at the current price and it's being prepared for shipment and can't be changed! That is NOT what I told them to do and they haven't even notified me about it! I'm getting on the phone RIGHT NOW and I'm going to rip someone a new one. OMG. (to clarify, the person I talk to will know I am not upset with them personally--but I am VERY upset)
  23. I've already returned the first one so I can't. Had I known the sale would end, I would have waited and done what you suggested, but when I left to return it I thought it was still on sale--it had been the night before and I left in the morning without checking again, thinking nothing had changed overnight. If this ever happens again I'm going to make sure I have what I need before I take what I don't need back.
