  1. not amber but those are both 10% off
  2. The lightsabers are on sale too. But $5.something for shipping two of them, argh. I wish they had local pickup at all stores, not just one city in TX!
  3. Again? Good lord. That really sucks. You have all those BB Bucks and everything. We have the doorbusters here...but nothing I am going to be there for. I won't be able to go out on Friday, I don't think. Noplace to leave the kids that early, and by later in the day, I might as well not even bother.
  4. I have my paper--Clarksville, TN Leaf-Chronicle Ads: Walmart Target Kmart Linens n Things Toys R Us Electronics Express Pet Food Center Hastings Goody's Belk JC Penney Sears Eckerd Baldwins Rack Room Shoes Old Navy Lifeway Christian Stores GameStop/EB Games Walgreens Office Depot Lowes Best Buy HHGregg Circuit City KB Toys Home Depot RadioShack Friedman's Jewelers Shoe Carnival Kirkland's Sam's Club whew!
  5. LOL...yeah, nothing like having a Baptist church on every corner. (And no, I don't mean any offense to Baptists...it's just not at all how things were back home.) Going from Los Angeles to the Bible Belt was a similarly shocking experience. It's been interesting to see what life is like in a totally different environment, though. :)
  6. LOL. There are plenty of regular people out there too. We're not all tattooed, pierced, vegetarian gang members who take our pets to shrinks.
  7. LOL. I actually wouldn't describe many people from back home as "sweet." Nearly everyone out here would fit that description though. Eccentric how? I really am fascinated by how the rest of the country perceives California. Never really knew till I moved out here.
  8. OMG, I'm dealing with the same issues, LOL. I do actually like the lack of traffic out here, but shoot, I'd take the extra cars if it meant I had fast food on every corner and a GOOD mall within 5 minutes of where I live. I can't stand driving half an hour just to go shopping, and that's at a really small, sucky mall. Nothing is open till NOON on Sunday and everyplace is closed by 5 or 6 on Sundays. There are no 7-11s or AM/PMs here. There is no Denny's. People call Carl's Jr Hardee's instead. And they look at me like I'm crazy when I refer to the interstate as the freeway, LOL.
  9. I don't have school for myself, or an out-of-the-home job, but DS only goes tomorrow. He's off Wed, Thurs, and Fri...and then of course Sat & Sun...oh lucky me. LOL. Thankfully the 4 y/o still has preschool Wed but it's going to be a loooong weekend.
  10. I know! I am *DYING* to send them my resume...but Nashville is just too far of a commute. Funny, I didn't mind sitting in traffic for an hour back home (LA) but here I don't want to actually drive for an hour.
  11. The ads you see in the paper now are not the Black Friday ads. Those ads won't be in the paper till Thanksgiving day.
  12. My NBC affiliate mentions GD too. I would love to take credit because I emailed them awhile back letting them know of the website, but with the site being on CNN and all over the place lately, I can't assume it was because of me. http://wsmv.com/Global/story.asp?S=4116238 I'm a bit irritated they featured a different site but at least GD was mentioned. :)
  13. Same here. :) Too bad I'm not buying LOL.
  14. Are those software programs you need to buy, or are they downloads?
  15. Most of them are internal DVD burners but there is one that will be on sale on BF that is external. Right now it's over $100 but it'll be $50 after rebate, I think, on BF. You still have to hook it up to your computer (looks like it connects via USB) but you don't have to actually install it inside your computer. I may be getting this one if I can get it online.
  16. Code 50451 gets you a free 8x10 with purchase. Exp. 11/30/05. Link: http://www.searsportrait.com/offers/keycode/?kcid=10130 (You can print it if you want to, but you don't have to, as long as you bring in the code for them to write on the order form.) That's not a very good one, LOL. I'll keep looking and see if I can come up with anything. I use the military special, but assuming you're not military, that won't help you. I'll edit if I find anything else.
  17. Oh, and I voted for Habitat for Humanity and the USO, I think. I voted a long time ago so I'm actually not sure if there was a third one I voted for.
  18. I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think that one was one of the charities selected in our last contest. Once a charity has been donated to, it's removed from the list so that others have a chance the next time something like this is done. It's a really well known charity and it wouldn't have been left off the list ordinarily, I don't think...we had a Deals for Charity event a few months ago and as I said, I believe that one was one of the winning ones. A little boy in my son's pre-K class last year died over the summer (cancer) and the Ronald McDonald House was so helpful to his family.
  19. a POS means a piece of s--t. A rather crappy model. Ok...my own question...if I were to buy a DVD recorder/VCR combo for the purpose of turning home movies on VHS into DVDs, and to make DVDs using a camcorder hooked up to the tv...is there any particular model that I should or shouldn't buy, or will they all work fine for that? Also--is it possible to have a DVD player hooked up to a DVD recorder, to copy DVDs? I want to send dh a bunch of his movies but I don't want them ruined (the stuff he took on his last deployment came back pretty messed up), so it'd be MUCH better to send him copies than the actual storebought DVDs. Plus the people who inspect the packages going over there are sometimes less than honest, and I wouldn't want my one and only copy of a movie walking off.
  20. That is very interesting...I had never considered that someone might extend that tenet to other religions' deities as well. So, then, would you put a hyphen in my son's name (Christopher) because it happens to contain those letters in that order? (I have never actually considered his name to be a form of the word "Christ"--to me it is just a regular name that happens to have those letters in it and isn't any more religious of a name than any other name out there) Or would you not hypen that because it's just a regular name, not the name "Christ" itself? I also think it's very interesting how some cultures would never use a name like Jesus or Christ for their children, when in other cultures (for example, hispanic), Jesus (pronounced hay-soos) is a very common name.
  21. The code is in the original post...it's an online deal, not an in-store one.
  22. I don't think it's a matter of them jacking up their prices as much as having sales on toys that only last a week or so. Like Dora's talking dollhouse. That thing normally goes for $60. I saw it at one point for $50, but didn't buy it. A few weeks later it was back up to $60--that promotional period had ended so it went back up to regular price. Later it dropped to $50 again and I used a $5 off coupon to buy it for $45. And LOL, after all that, I think I'm taking it back and getting a kitchen (LT or Step2) instead.
  23. Mine are young (preschool/early elementary school age) so I make sure that they have the same number of gifts to open. I try to keep the spending equal but if they want things that cost totally different amounts of money, that isn't possible.
  24. This is the link to the shopping list: http://blackfriday.gottadeal.com/ShoppingList And here is a link to BF items available at the BF sale price (or better) already: http://blackfriday.gottadeal.com/Online
