nubeedeallover, Yes they still sell stand alone VCR's at stores like Target, Best Buy, Walmart, Circuit City, etc. Last week while shopping at CostCo we saw a nice Panasonic VCR for $59.99 out the door.

Dell, Compaq/HP, and Gateway are all good brands. Only you know what your budget limit is, so how much do you think you can afford? Do you also need a monitor or just a new computer?

That sucks $499 is a great price for an entry level laptop. There's also the Dell Inspiron B120 for $499 after rebate.

Geeks.com has the Creative NOMAD MuVo 128MB for $24.99 It's a good name brand but the capacity is on the smaller side, when newer MP3 players are 512MB and 1GB. Just something to consider.

That's what I did with my Dell Inspiron 700m laptop. Left the 256MB in (since it was located underneath the keyboard) and popped in 1GB
