Cheap cell phone with no contract
Marcster replied to kmcnabb108's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
You can if the other company uses the same technology. Cingular can use unlocked T-Mobile phones and vice versa. Use the phonescoop's search engine to see what might be compatible: http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/finder.php Remember to look at the technology the phone uses, if you have Cingular or T-Mobile, you'll want a phone with GSM850 / GSM1900 at the very least. Some phones come tri-band, and most Motorolas for Cing or T-Mo are quad-band, but it won't matter, a Cingular or T-Mo customer will only be using the GSM850 / GSM1900 bands anyway. The other bands are for other countries. -
looknig for a cheap external hard drive?
Marcster replied to BellaVita's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
If you can turn a screwdriver, it's usually cheaper to buy an internal drive and put it into an external case. Just make sure you get the same type, for instance: a 3.5" IDE internal drive needs a 3.5" IDE external case.... If you have any old internal hard drives lying around, they can be used in an external case -- that's the cheapest! http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Yes/N1clever02HL1.gif -
Cheap cell phone with no contract

Unless you want to pay to have the phone unlocked, you'll be limited to whatever "xxxx to go" type of offerings you can find with your current carrier. -
Is there a Compusa near you that's going out of business? Liquidation sales can be pretty good... http://forums.gottadeal.com/showthread.php?t=68554

Right Guard & Soft & Dri Free After Coupon @ Walgreens
Marcster replied to soonernstlouis's topic in Offline Hot Deals
Something in Right Guard makes my armpits P-E-E-L! http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Sick/eeewsign65.gif I don't have problems with any other brand. -
While we're on the subject, does everyone else agree that BB&B's "regular" prices are too high, especially if you don't have the 20% off coupon(s). What do you think?

Villager/Quest -- 1993 - 2002 -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercury_Villager "The joint venture for this vehicle was a marriage of convenience between Ford and Nissan. The Ford Aerostar minivan was aging and lagging in sales, and its replacement, the Windstar, was not yet ready for market. Ford had money to build an assembly plant, but lacked vehicle design engineering resources due to other vehicles. Nissan was lacking cash but could contribute vehicle engineering and an engine built at its Smyrna, Tennessee facility. The initial project was code named "VX54" within Ford." I just wanted to add that of the vans of that "era", the Quest/Villager was definitely the nicest looking. The competition of '95 were all dogs: the Chevy Lumina van/Pontiac Trans Port/Olds Silhouette http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Sick/icon120.gif, Toyota Previa http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Sick/N1yukHL.gif, Mazda MPV http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/NO/shakehead01.gif, and the old body style Chrysler/Plymouth/Dodge vans were very blah too. http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/NO/down.gif If you can find a Honda Odyssey van, that was well regarded (though it'll probably be a little more money): http://www.edmunds.com/used/1995/honda/odyssey/minivanvan/compact/index.html

Rather then completely dismissing this vehicle, I'd recommend taking this '95 Villager to your mechanic for an evaluation. Have him/her check it out. Also, run a CarFAX on it (from either www.carfax.com or at a discount through www.aaa.com). It's quite possible that this was owned by a retiree or someone who lived super-close to work... Edmunds.com listing: http://www.edmunds.com/used/1995/mercury/villager/index.html Edmunds goes back to 1990!

a good MP3 player with new features
Marcster replied to cbbutler2's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
Kren -- the subscription services that you mention for the Creative Zen are more like cable TV then actually owning the music. Napster and the other subscription services out there give you unlimited downloads that you can listen to as often as you want for as long as you continue the service. Very similar to cable TV giving you lots of channels and you can watch them all day, but if you cancel your cable subscription, the channels go away. If you want to own your music, you can buy it from iTunes.com or you can rip from CDs you already own. -

Stay away from any Toshiba that starts with "A" in it's model number. They aren't made by Toshiba at all, they're made by the lowest bidder. (I have one... I want to throw it out the window).

There is also www.webster.com and www.thefreedictionary.com

Try Sam's Club, Lowes, Best Buy, or Sears. Home Depot is ridiculously expensive.

There's a Marc's drug store? Why haven't I been getting a royalty check? http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Angry/theclub.gif

I couldn't find a discount code or coupon from my normal sources. Are you sure you want to use them? Just read the horror stories: http://www.epinions.com/hmgd-Moving_Services-All-U_Haul_Moving_Service/display_~reviews Penske might be a better choice: http://www.epinions.com/hmgd-Moving_Services-All-Penske_Moving_Service/display_~reviews

It looks like that drive is $41.99 plus shipping. Personally, I'd kick in the extra $2.00 to get one with an 8MB cache. You'll gain some data transfer speed. 80GB/8Mb cache: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822144122 If you think he'll use the space, the 120GB/8MB cache is $55.99 plus shipping: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822144118 And the 160GB/8MB cache is $64.99 plus shipping: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822144175

looking for a deal on a swing set!
Marcster replied to Mommy2Four's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
I think Sam's Club has the same set. It was $1,199.00! -
Well, I should clarify... I've seen codes for specific things, usually the very high-end items, but they are publicly available (listed right with the item).

How many of you do teleshopping?
Marcster replied to aarkaay's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
Every so often I'll flip through the channels and stop on the the shopping channels when they are slinging computers. Either they are lying through their teeth or they have no idea what they are talking about. I remember one time the guy was talking about the DVR capabilities of a particular computer, saying it had this feature and that feature. The only problem was that he was pointing out features that were "greyed out" since the computer only shipped with the limited-edition of the software. If you wanted those features, you'd need to buy the full-version of the program. http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Rude/lie1.gif I've caught them making ridiculous claims for battery life of laptops, claims of their computer having the fastest processor out there (when it's a mid-range processor), and the insane "retail" price of the included software bundle. Most of the programs in the "software bundle" can be found for $5.00 and under, but the shopping channels claim they are worth 10x that. http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Rude/lie.gif -
looking for a deal on a swing set!
Marcster replied to Mommy2Four's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
You could look on freecycle.org and craigslist.com too. Even if you had to drive a little, you could still come out ahead... http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileys/10.gif -
I've never once come across a code for them, and I've been ordering from them since 2002 (24 orders altogether).
