  2. Yeah, mine came Friday too about 9:30 am. Would you believe I've been too busy to open the box? It's sitting right next to me as I type this...
  3. Yup, starting around post #73: http://forums.gottadeal.com/showthread.php?p=644249&highlight=home+depot+lcd+employees#post644249
  4. I speculated back on post #36.
  5. DigitalRiver, the company handling the delivery of the software, typically offers that multiple downloads service in case your hard drive dies and you lost your installation files in the process. It's much more cost-effective to save that $6 and burn two copies on DVDs (or CDs if it fits). Heck, buy yourself a latte and a snack with the $6. Two copies should cover you in case one of the disks went bad. http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Drink/lovecoffee.gif
  6. Yes, that's right. It's a trial specifically for college students and if you like it, you can buy it for $59.95. But you must be a student currently enrolled in at least one college course, with a .edu e-mail address, and be able to provide college ID if requested. Nothing is really buried in the fine print... It's a heck of a deal if you can meet those conditions.

  8. I drive my wife nuts.
  9. limabean -- first off, welcome to the forum! No, I wouldn't camp out. Let's say your looking at a TV that retails for $175, and is on sale for BF for $100. Is it worth camping out for 12 hours and enduring the madness and waiting in line for an hour to check out to grab a TV to save $75? In mathematical terms, $75/13 hours (12+1) = $5.76/hour. And you might be enduring weather to make that $5.76/hour... Depending on where you live... http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Weather/28_2_3v.gifhttp://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Weather/28_2_6v.gifhttp://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Weather/28_3_1.gif It comes down to what's your time worth? However, consider places that are less popular, like Staples, Officemax and Office Depot.
  10. They probably make their deals with the manufacturers in July or August.
  11. That's why my wife and I do Staples, OfficeMax and Office Depot. It's a busy day, and there is a line, but I've never come across the madness you are describing. Back in 2003, I went to Best Buy. Never again (but I didn't camp out). He doesn't, actually... Somebody has to stay here and mind the servers.

  13. I'll have to give HP a call... I just got an e-mail that my laptop shipped. It should arrive "9/17 before 10:30 am". http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Happy/woohoo2.gif

  15. You're welcome! :)
  16. If you see another Gottadealer on here by the name BigJimSlade, he's our resident Bollywood expert.
  17. After your computer arrives call HP Sales at 1-800-892-6609 (7am - 2am EST every day) and tell them that a code of NB3009 became available right after you bought your computer and that you'd like a credit for the difference (the 10%). If they give you a hard time, you can threaten to return the laptop. First real purchase in the US -- where are you from? Welcome to the USA!
  18. Magazine Price Search is like a search engine of magazine prices. I've bought at least a dozen subscriptions through them.
  19. How about $10.95 for 6 issues: http://www.magazinepricesearch.com/detail/americangirl.html?terms=american%20girl
  20. That coupon is valid for all laptops $999 and above (except for that HDX 20.1" monster) till 9/22. ***** Hmm, maybe they'll price match? EDIT: I just called HP's Sales -- gotta love a company that has hours till 2AM. They said no problem to price match. Price protection lasts 30 days after receipt of product and he said I should have it by the 14th or the 17th. So that'll be an additional $138 (including tax) that I'll save. He said I have to actually have the computer to do a price match, it can't still be in production. The only thing that stinks is that I would've sprung for the graphics card at that point. I was prepared to spend up to $1200 including the warranty and tax. Thanks, Al!
  21. D-Link & Netgear = complete junk. http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Angry/thsmashcomputer.gif Go with Linksys. I've heard that Buffalo are just as good as Linksys but are more complicated to set up. So either Linksys or Buffalo.
  22. Oh, well then I'd go with one of the systems from JC Whitney.
  23. Yep, that's the right attitude. GottaDeal is the place to be all year 'round.
  24. Actually, there have been quite a few Acers offered by the big box stores for like $398 after $150 in rebates. That's been going on for months... Just keep your eyes peeled and look for the Sunday circulars.
  25. Do you edit video at all? If so, how often.
