  1. I would exercise caution here. There's absolutely no way Vista will run smoothly on this laptop. Processor is outdated and Vista needs at least 2GB of RAM not to frustrate you constantly with the right processor. On 512MB your tasks would run very slowly, if the system doesn't lock up on you altogether. If this had a dual-core processor it would be a great deal, although you'd still have to buy more RAM imho.
  2. I agree. This laptop is trying to run Vista on a Celeron processor and 1GB of RAM. It will freeze up more than it will work. For roughly the same price, you can at least get one with a dual core processor, though you may need to add some RAM yourself.
  3. You need cartridges. You should try the Wishblade or the Silhouette. They are both the same. I've had the Silhouette for several months. I got a great deal on QVC, and I still haven't made a dent in all the cardstock that came with it or even used the $200 download card (QVC says it's good for up to 40 images, but QK recently dropped the price per download so it will be more). The learning curve is definitely steeper for this machine than the Cricut. If you're a geek (like me), it doesn't take long to get to know the softwaren anyway. My favorite part is not needing cartridges. I can cut any font on my pc, and there's lots of great free fonts on the web. I also like that I could weld words right out of the box (you have to purchase the software separately in order to weld with Cricut). I download and cut clipart and my own designs. I use Photoshop and the Software that came with the machine and can create almost anything. Now, don't get me wrong. There's something to be said for the Cricut. I've used it before, and it is very easy to use. Much easier than the machines I mentioned. However, if you really wish to free hand designs and don't mind learning the software, then the WB or Sil is the way to go IMHO. HTH
  4. My cell phone digicam takes good pics too (examples here). But, because of the weak flash, there has to be enough light already. I can't complain. My "real" camera is a dSLR and too bulky to carry around all the time. My cell phone works pretty well in a pinch for those times when I find myself needing to take a quick photo.
  5. I think it depends on how good the camera on her phone is. In general, they aren't very good. Mine has a 2MP camera, and I think that's about as good as it gets on a cell phone. There are digicams with much better resolution and better features (my cell phone cam does zoom but the flash is ridiculously weak) for relatively little money these days.
  6. She might have been a regular customer. When I signed up for the baby registry they gave me one of those guns, and I had to go to the baby section with it and scan in what I wanted on my registry. Same thing when I registered for my housewarming. They give you the gun to add items in the store to your list, or you can go online and add stuff.
  7. I agree. I've owned my D40 for several months, and I can't rave about it enough. The pictures are great!
  8. I found them next to the single JBJ books. I got some for gifts. dd has all of them and has read them already.
  9. TRU also carries them at this price.
  10. I always pay with my CC in case I lose my receipt. I've returned items before (>$20) without a receipt. If you give them the item and your CC, they can look up the transaction.
  11. I know what you mean about their employees. Most of them act like you're bothering them anyway. Still, I'll miss their shoe section (although I think DSW is owned by the same company, I don't remember DSW selling shoes for kids). I hope the furniture stores don't go out of business. I usually find good deals there too.
  12. I scored a cute metal and black picture frame for $1.98, a couple of $1.98 glass vases, a couple of dish towels (not sure how much $$$, but under $2), and the legendary MM juice (fruit punch). GB was 50% off. They had a bunch of stuff, and only a couple of people were browsing through it.
  13. Thanks! I hadn't been to the site today so I hadn't seen the SHIPFIVE promo.
  14. Are there any free shipping codes? I tried ordering the Kim Possible backpack and lunchbox...shipping came to $8+ on an $11 order.
  15. I never received my order from November either. I gave up too. Made them credit the charge back. Will never order from them again.
  16. My dd9 loves it! She's already learned several songs since Xmas, despite never playing piano before. She even uses it now without plugging it into the television...just plays the songs from memory. It was well worth the $10 I paid!
  17. Now I'd definitely pay $24 for that!
  18. They sent me one too. I take back at least SOME of what I said about their customer service this week.
  19. Did you happen to notice if they had any Disney Channel type stuff (like Hannah Montana, HSM, Cheetah Girls, That's So Raven, etc.)?
  20. I'll head out to Fairlane tomorrow after dd goes to school. Thanks for the heads up OP!
  21. LOL...Maybe they've taken organic chemistry and realize that humans are organic. Perhaps if you say "organically grown" instead they'll know you're not going around eating their neighbors.
  22. I started to order these, then I looked at the reviews. I'm not sure I'd waste my $10.
  23. I hit two Targets today. The one in Livonia (between 9mi & GR) had the 75% toy clearance. The one in Southfield (Southfield Rd) was still at 30% this afternoon, although they had some at 50%. So I scored at one, but not at the other. Here's what I got: First Act Harmonica...$1.98 Bratz Flower Girl Chloe...$3.24 BratzLife...$7.48 Scene It! Harry Potter Ed...$6.74 FP I Can Play Guitar...$19.98 FP I Can Play Guitar cartridge...$3.24 FP I Can Play Guitar cartridge...$3.24 FP I Can Play Guitar cartridge...$3.24 FP I Can Play Piano cartridge...$3.74 FP I Can Play Piano cartridge...$3.74 FP I Can Play Piano cartridge...$3.74 Fly Fusion Software: Harry Potter's Marauder's Map...$2.48 Fly Fusion Software: Music Studio...$3.74 I also managed some non-toy deals throughout the store: 4X4 Picture frames (6)...$1.25 each 4X6 Picture frames (3)...$1.25 each L/S girls' top...$2.48 Electrasol Power Tabs (20-pk)...$2.66 - $2.25 man. coupon = 41 cents!
  24. I ALWAYS get mine at the front register when I check out or at customer service unless they already have them out where the item should be. It's just easier and less hassle that way. I just show them the ad, and they do it. I always have them add extra quantity, just in case I decide to get extras.
  25. Not much at my Target today either. Most stuff 30%. I picked up the Jungle Boogie cartridge for FP I Can Play Piano at 30%...would've waited for 50% but it was the only one so I wanted to be sure I got it. I expect they'll have a lot more clearance on Wednesday (in addition to the Xmas clearance). I did notice that they had several clearance items in the aisles and not on the endcaps though. All of those seemed to be 30% though (will someone tell Target that marking something down from $39.99 to $34.99 is a sale not a clearance? LOL).
