  1. LOL...I blame it all my kid, but the truth is that I'm not the daintiest person either (don't tell anybody). Thanks for the info. I guess it's the Target brand for us then. Are any other flavors palatable, or is the fruit punch the only one the kids like?
  2. Is the Target brand juice clear like Capri-Sun. To tell the truth, that's the only reason I prefer Capri-Sun over the others: clear liquid means less chance of mess. DD is 9, but still pretty careless when it comes to stuff like that.
  3. The Spongebob ones come in the NPower Fission and NPower Fusion. NPower are the ones made with Nick characters (as opposed to Disney Mix Stix and Mix Max). The Fusion is the one with video. hth
  4. Wow! I'm going to have to check my stores this morning. I didn't go yesterday, but the Fusions were still marked 30% at my Target stores on Saturday. I've been checking every other day because I really want to get an NBB Fusion for dd. All our stores have so many of them, I was sure they'd salvage after 50%. If they ever go 75% here, I'd definitely pick some up for the upcoming birthday season (most of dd's friends have bdays between july and november). They would make great gifts at that price.
  5. I think it depends on the laptop. I use mine for intensive photo editing and have had no problems. You just need to make sure you have enough RAM and a decent video resolution. I run CS3 on my laptop.
  6. Thanks. I've been checking both my Targets twice a week for the longest. But, knowing that your Target marked them down has given me some hope.
  7. Arrrrgh! Is that the one with video? Ours are still $5x.xx. I've been waiting for them to drop to 1/2 off for the longest! I'm so jealous. I want that NBB one for dd's birthday.
  8. Today I got a Shrek the Third (DS) game for dd. It was marked down to $7.48, but it scanned NCF. The cashier didn't see the clearance sticker on it (or maybe she did) so she gave it to me for $3.74! I also picked up a few 6 pks of water bracelet party favors for $0.74 each. Other stuff I grabbed: Papermate mechanical pencil $1.48 12-pk. notecards with monogram $0.98 40-sheet pack of 8X8 cardstock $1.48 Npower still only 30% off. I'm wondering if they're EVER going down at my stores. Also saw a whole bunch of digital camcorders clearanced out. Reg price was $99.99, clearance price was $78.88 i think...not even 30% off. Also saw a bunch of kitchen towels, etc at 30% off, so I'll be waiting for them to go lower.
  9. I've been waiting too. I've had my eye on the NBB one with video. I wish I could hide one, but all of my stores have them locked down. But it seems they've been 30% forever. The Disney ones have gone to 50% at my Target stores, but not the NPower ones.
  10. So true. No rhyme or reason. Two days ago I saw a bunch of them marked 50% off at my Target. I live in MI. We're expecting rain to turn to snow today, not to mention it's supposed to snow on Friday! You'd think they'd be disappearing off the shelves. It's not like people here don't KNOW they'll need them eventually. Winter is a foregone conclusion around here.
  11. Most of ours is 50% right now. A few items are still 25%, and very few have gone to 75%.
  12. I ran into to the Southfield Rd. (MI) store this evening to grab two photokinz that I had stashed last week. They were still where I stashed them (yeah!), and I also found 2 mm fruit punches. So, it ended up being a pretty productive 15 min. run.
  13. You're right. This is a good option to run XP at the base price, though I would still recommend adding some RAM if you plan to multi-task. If you want to run Vista, you should upgrade the processor to the dual-core option and definitely add RAM. Still an excellent deal either way.
  14. The link didn't work for me, but if you mean the Vostro 1000 you are right. This is a good deal, especially if you want to run XP.
  15. LOL. And I've experienced all kinds of problems with Toshiba. Both at home and on the job. I think sometimes a little luck is involved. You can also do a web search for your model (especially if it's an older model) to see what the common problems are.
  16. Vista basic doesn't require 2GB, but if you're going to multi-task (and most people I know do want to do something else while they're waiting for their dvd to burn or while they're waiting for a download or an install to finish) I would definitely recommend it. You will definitely be locking up if you are running Vista (even Basic) with 512MB on a Celeron.
  17. I believe most of the ones offered on BF '06 were running WinXP. XP would run fine with the specs in the OP, but I wouldn't recommend running Vista with those specs.
  18. Interesting. So I guess it just depends on the store. In that case, I'll check a couple other stores tomorrow and, if they're all still 30%, I'll wait until they go down to 50%. Thanks!
  19. The Npower ones are the Nickolodeon ones: NBB, SpongeBob, etc.
  20. I made a quick Target run tonight and noticed that the Disney Mix Stix are now 50% off but the NPower ones are still only 30% off (I scanned one to make sure it wasn't mis-marked). Has anyone seen the NPower ones go to 50% off at their stores yet? If so, I'll wait until they mark them to 50% off. If not, I need to grab one now before they salvage them (seems like they've been 30% off for several weeks and all the Targets I go to seem to have a bunch of them left). My daughter is a HUGE NBB fan, and I'd love to get her the NBB one with video. Oh, and I also strategically hid two Photokinz (one monkey and one tiger) because dd was with me (I left her playing NDS while I looked at the NPower and for the Photokinz) so I'll have to go back for them in the morning.
  21. Yep. You might try this one from Best Buy: Compaq - Presario T2330 Laptop Model: C751NR | SKU: 8661897 Sale:$449.99 http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s51/suffer70/acer-cc.jpg Product Features: Intel® Pentium® 1.6GHz Dual-Core mobile processor1GB DDR2 RAM, expandable to 2GB Multiformat DVD±RW/CD-RW drive with double-layer support15.4" WXGA high-definition LCD widescreen display120GB Serial ATA hard drive (5400 rpm) 3 high-speed USB 2.0 portsBuilt-in high-speed wireless LAN (802.11b/g) Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition Or, for $50 more, you could get the same laptop in this bundle: Compaq Presario C751NR Laptop with 3-in-1 Printer & Antivirus Software Installed SKU: 999986600050001 Our Price:$499.99 http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s51/suffer70/compaq-bb.jpg Features: Compaq Presario C751NR LaptopHP Deskjet all-in-one printer, copier and scanner with Smart Web printing and scanning technology to restore old and damaged photos Trend Micro AntiVirus 2008 precinct software to protect your computer against Internet threats; includes installation by Geek Squad® Any similar deal would be good. I would add at least another 1GB of RAM, which is pretty cheap. At 1.6GHz, this isn't the fastest dual-core out there, but it is a much better processor than the one in the OP. hth
  22. I've never owned an Acer or worked on Acers. My company used to have a contract with Toshiba (and we had lots of problems with those), but now we deal with Compaqs. Interesting. What kind of processor does yours have? And is it running Vista Basic or Premium? Microsoft itself recommends a dual-core processor and a minimum of 2GB to run Vista Premium. It also depends on what you deem normal use. If you want to run Vista and perform more than one task at a time, the specs on the PC in the OP won't cut it. And some software are resource hogs (I like to take pictures, and Photoshop comes to mind immediately). But you're right. RAM is pretty cheap these days. If the processor wasn't outdated, I would say go ahead and buy it and add more RAM. But the fact of the matter is that Celeron processors are pretty much obsolete, especially now that quad-core processors are out already. For my money, I'd pay an extra $100-$150 or so for a better processor. This will keep you from being forced to upgrade in the next couple of years. You can always add RAM, you can buy a larger hard drive or use an external one. But to upgrade a processor you might as well buy a whole new machine.
  23. I haven't seen webkinz, but I have seen the photokinz @ 3 different Targets so far: Livonia (9 mi/Grand River), Southfield Rd., and Rochester Rd. hth
