Update on the coupons for returning Amazon orders: just got one and it’s only 20% and in store only now so they definitely thought of this possible strategy and stopped it for now.

Details: https://blackfriday.gottadeal.com/Story/17866/Kohls-Black-Friday-Ad-Getting-Released-Thursday-Night So based on these pages on the Kohl's site, the ad should be released around midnight ET Thursday night and then you'll have 24 hours to get most of their non-doorbuster deals as well as $15 in Kohl's Cash with every $50 spent. Last year they had free shipping on $50 or more. Also, Kohl's has been giving out one-time-use 25% off codes when you return an Amazon purchase at a Kohl's store. So if you want to save a little bit more, you might want to "accidentally" order something from Amazon this week and return it to Kohl's before Friday. Of course they may have stopped issuing these coupons knowing that the one-day-only sale is happening, so if anyone has returned anything recently, let us know if you received a code.

At this point I’d put the odds at 99% that Kohl’s is out Thursday night...

So here's where BF taking place 6 days later comes into play. Last year, Kohl's released their ad late Wednesday night and Target released theirs Thursday morning of this coming week (10/31 and 11/1 last year). But last year that was ~3 weeks before BF. So the question is, do they release their ads this coming week because it's the same week as last year or do they wait a week since BF is later and we don't get them until the 6th/7th of November? Personally, I think they are worried about the shorter period between Thanksgiving and Christmas this year, so they'll release their ads earlier and try to increase sales in the weeks before BF to try and make up for it. So my prediction is that this coming week will be the week we get some bigger ads. They might want to avoid Halloween and so like last year, Kohl's might release it late at night on the 31st (this Thursday night) and Target could follow Friday morning (November 1st). November 1st seems like a good date to start their sales and both Kohl's and Target put some of their BF deals online the same day their ads are released. I think Walmart and Best Buy will again hold off until at least the following week.

One of the best current deals in the ad might be the Nintendo DS Lite system. Those older systems in sealed condition can sell to collectors for quite a bit more than they did when they were new.

Time for the next contest, and we're going back 13 years for this one... To be entered to win, browse the 2006 Target Black Friday ad posted below and post your pick for the best current deal in the ad. This doesn't mean the best deal when the ad was released, but the best deal right now as if this was their ad for this year. Here is a PDF: If you can't access the PDF, you can also browse this ad on the Black Friday Archive. Contest will be open until 11pm ET on Wednesday, October 30th. I will then randomly choose 15 members who entered and you'll win a Black Friday survival kit with the possibility of getting a mystery gift card or ultra-rare Black Friday t-shirt inside! Limit of one survival kit prize per member but if you have already won you are still welcome to enter future contests for fun. For more info on the Black Friday survival kits we're giving away this year (including the bonus mystery prizes inside), see this thread.

Last year they had the 25% off toys and they also had their annual B2G1F deal on video games and board games (so board games were not part of the 25% coupon offer). So there's a good chance the board games will be part of the B2G1F deal again this year.

Bumping this contest which ends tonight

Would be nice if Walmart brought back those weekend sales they had years ago leading up the BF. I remember there being some decent deals in those sales.
-
Had some time and shipped the first batch of survival kits today. I'll still ship the photo caption contest prizes over the weekend but I wanted to get these out ASAP.
-
5 days without posting in here? Sure, everyone gets their prize and then forgets about the thread
-
Also, for those lucky enough to get a voucher for a t-shirt in your survival kits, follow the instructions on it to claim your prize. Due to the very limited nature of these shirts, if your preferred size isn't available, you'll have the option of either choosing a different size or else I'll put your name on the list and you'll be guaranteed a 2020 shirt in your preferred size.

The quantity and quality of deals that pop up determines my budget each year.

For smaller Kohl's purchases, before BF they've been doing the Veteran's Day sale where you get $10 off $25, then 30% off and free shipping for Kohl's Charge cardholders. You basically get $25 in stuff for $10 shipped. I usually place 5-10 orders each year during that sale.
-
Just a reminder that the first batch of kits will ship this weekend after the photo caption contest ends. So if you have won a kit and haven't received it, no need to worry - you haven't been forgotten.

Couple of pre-Black Friday ads from Costco while we wait for their actual BF ad: Online-Only Savings: https://blackfriday.gottadeal.com/MoreSales/CostcoOnline November Coupons: https://blackfriday.gottadeal.com/MoreSales/CostcoNov

Looking like the weekends are the most popular so far. We won't have one this weekend because a lot of areas have Halloween stuff going on Saturday and/or Sunday but the following weekend we'll try having a scheduled chat and hopefully will have some bigger ads to discuss by then.

They've had 25% off coupons here and there. They also usually offer a free $10 gift card with $50 purchase during November.
