  1. The dancing banana finally has some friends: Now to add some more avatars...
  2. That $30 off $150 expires today, although there is a good chance that they will release some new coupons tomorrow.
  3. $30 off $150 using this link: http://www.gottadeal.com/click.php?type=coupon&id=772 excludes certain technology items
  4. I just checked and according to a thread on FW, this model is out of stock. Philips doesn't tell you that until the final stage of checkout though

  6. Nope, keep them coming :) I'm surprised that the "add attachment" fields aren't on the same screen as the basic message entering fields.
  7. 30" widescreen models are nice for bedrooms (if you have the space) or as your main TV if you don't want something huge. just add a HD tuner and antenna (or HD cable/satellite box) and you're set.
  8. do you mean preview how the thumbnails will look? cause i know you can preview the rest of the message. i'll have to look at the vB forums and see what people are doing to work around this stuff. see, if you wouldn't have whined about wanting to attach images, none of this would have been an issue
  9. More info: Refurbished to near-new condition, the Philips 30PW850H offers a 30-inch Real Flat, high-definition widescreen picture tube, which delivers exciting home-cinema viewing when used with a progressive-scan DVD player or an outboard digital set-top box for DTV reception. Picture enhancements include a sophisticated 3D Y/C digital comb filter, which improves quality of incoming interlaced video signals by removing blurred edges between colors and reducing dot crawl (tiny, moving dots of color along a sharp color separation in a vertical line, as in a depiction of a character's striped T-shirt). Eye Fidelity gives you the choice between different line doubling and scanning techniques--progressive or interlaced--so you can reduce motion artifacts like jagged edges and stair stepping, viewing material in progressive scan (480p) or a line doubled (1050i) picture.. Velocity-scan modulation improves the definition at picture edges, creating sharper images by slowing the CRT (cathode-ray tube) beam's horizontal scanning during demanding work--say, when rendering transitions from light to dark parts of an image--and speeding it up when scanning easily rendered sections, like broad dark areas. A shadow mask is a thin sheet of perforated metal behind the screen that restricts electron flow, each hole in the sheet corresponding to a single pixel. An Invar mask uses an alloy that's especially resistant to the high temperatures generated by the electron beam, allowing in a brighter, clearer picture. Further, a feature called Active Control continuously analyzes incoming signals and optimizes picture color, sharpness, contrast, and digital noise reduction 60 times per second. The set offers stereo reception with 10 watts power per stereo speaker, and onboard Incredible Surround processing simulates surround sound from any two speakers. Two sets of high-definition component-video inputs (1080i/480p) accommodate a set-top box/HD satellite receiver and a progressive-scan DVD player, while side and rear composite- and S-video inputs accommodate other hardware. Rear-panel audio/video outputs make it a cinch to hook the set up with your home theater surround receiver for a truly enveloping AV experience. A 0.125-inch headphone jack lets you listen in private. The set includes an NTSC tuner for standard TV reception and comes with a universal remote control. What's in the Box TV, a universal remote control, remote batteries, operating instructions, and warranty information. From the Manufacturer The director had a vision, and this Philips 30-inch widescreen HD-ready TV lets you share it. The TV's Real Flat picture tube delivers today's best home cinema viewing experience while being prepared for tomorrow's TV developments. The HDTV option delivers exceptional picture quality and a real movie-viewing experience that makes television more dynamic than anything you've seen before. And the TV's Eye Fidelity feature allows users the choice of progressive or interlaced line doubling options. Both techniques are designed to enhance the quality of the picture by doubling the number of lines: interlaced for fast-moving images and progressive for slower-moving images. The TV's 3D digital comb filter is considered the best type of comb filter available, as it separates colors and eliminates distortion to give you a razor sharp picture with breathtaking clarity. And whether you're watching a DVD or cable, the TV's Active Control feature will work to maintain the specifications that you have set, optimizing your television viewing experience. The TV's video is complemented by its Incredible Surround audio, which dramatically expands the sound field to create greater depth and provide the listener with an invigorating musical experience. The TV also includes Auto Picture, a convenient way to access the preset picture settings--multimedia, rich, natural, soft, and personal--to enhance the picture elements of different sources.
  10. Search for 30PW850H99 to find it. I know we sold a few of these through the site when they were $539, so I'd imagine they are going to be popular for $359, especially with free shipping.
  11. I can get rid of the thumbnail feature and just have the images shown, but I think the thumbnails would be better, especially if people start posting larger images.
  12. Amazon usually has cheap prices on the Ridata media as well: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0001YFX7U
  13. Looks like it comes with the base unit and one handset (which charges in the base). Both the base and handset can be used to make calls. Additional handsets (with chargers) are available, but appear to be OOS at Amazon.
  14. Well that's vB's fault. Not much we can do with that. I'll check to see if there are any hacks to make it easier to upload.
  15. I think I have it done. You now need 100 posts to get: * a custom avatar * a custom title * the ability to attach files * increased PM limits Those forum members with 50-99 posts currently will still get these things. If someone has 48 or 49 posts and wants me to bump them, send me a PM and state your case :)
  16. OK, I have (hopefully) turned on file attachment for users with 50 or more posts. Someone should try to attach a pic in this thread to test it out. We are most likely going to raise the minimum number of posts required to get the custom avatar/title & attachment priviledges from 50 to 100, just as soon as I can figure out how to make sure those who currently have between 50 and 99 posts still can keep their "goodies".
  17. Good idea. I was thinking around 5MB as well considering most images posted will be well under 1MB.
  18. Attachments are also stored in the database
  19. What we could do is allow those members with at least 50 posts to upload attachments. Just like we allow them to have custom avatars and titles at that point. That is easy to do with vB, and it would prevent some abuse. vB allows us to set a max filesize limit as well, but that's the total limit for all attachments combined for each person. I have no idea what a good limit would be, so maybe that would be made unlimited.
  20. The "stock" avatars are in their own folder, and I believe that the custom ones are stored in the database. Smilies are also stored in their own folder.
  21. One option would be to implement it with a realistic max filesize (just so we don't have people posting their fullsize 5MP digicam pics), and possibly hotlinking protection if needed. What boards besides the Lounge would need image attachments turned on?
  22. I don't remember how we did it. Some of the boards allow IMG tags, but I don't know if any allow uploading attachments. When we first started the forum we were on a VPS, so we were worried about BW. Now that we are on a dedicated server, that may be possible. We might try it and as long as it doesn't get abused, we'll keep it.
