  1. I think that we should have more than a days worth on the home page. The descriptions will all be short because we are getting rid of the big paragraph of background info with each item for several reasons. That is still being considered. Nothing about the layout and organization will really change too much. All the old links will work. Everything will pretty much be where it is now. The best way for our members to post deals is to post them here on the forum. Assuming they are "hot enough", we can quickly find an appropriate image and post them on the main site. We've done this several times and give credit to the person who posted it. That's one of the main reasons we have this forum. Thank you for them all :)
  2. I still don't think we need a full-fledged FS/FT forum at this point. I see no reason why anyone can't just post in the lounge (or in the future tech/computers forum) listing what they have and their references. If it gets to the point where we have so many threads that it clutters up those forums, then we can have a dedicated board, but I don't think it's needed right now. If the concern is about not letting every newcomer buy or sell, maybe we can look into ways to prevent abuse. Anyone else have any thoughts one way or another on having a dedicated FS/FT board?
  3. The compact router dropped to $63.64 today (from $67 yesterday): http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0007MGG2M
  4. I think 3 days worth of deals would be a good amount. That way if someone doesn't check in over the weekend, when they come to the site Monday they'll see the deals from Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Then you'll be able to go to the previous 3 days on the next page, then 3 more days back, etc...
  5. The new MuVo Micros (512MB) are down to $89 shipped AR: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00067KZA2 Several colors to choose from.
  6. Now available at Amazon for $131.94 shipped: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000058BCQ Should've waited a few weeks :)
  7. or if you don't have a staples nearby (or they are OOS): http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=101318 http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=10339906
  8. there looks like there are some spaces in the link URL
  9. Some options: http://www.compgeeks.com/details.asp?invtid=5T040H4-N&cat=HDD http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=711006-017 http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc.asp?DEPA=0&description=22-140-133 http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=22-152-008 http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=101284 At this price, you'll be fine with any of these, so you might just want to pick the cheapest.
  10. Might be a good time to pick up the new compact 802.11g router: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0007MGG2M Just need to find $33 in other Linksys items.
  11. It could, but given the fact that the majority of our visitors probably wouldn't change it, we are still looking for the right "default" number.
  12. Directron might be a little cheaper depending on the shipping charges to your location: http://www.directron.com/cavt03uwa.html They were a few bucks cheaper for me when I compared the two.
  13. This $10 rebate is still valid through 3/15: http://images.pricegrabber.com/rebates/23936-595.pdf Worth a shot
  14. It all depends on which model you are looking at. Newegg has deals mostly because they carry almost everything. But you can find deals elsewhere. Buy.com and Amazon have nice prices on Antec cases. ZipZoomFly and Directron also occasionally have deals.
  15. Also, in case anyone is interested, there is an optional MP3 "companion" that you can slide the flash drive into and turn it into an MP3 player: http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=90136155
  16. i went to 2 different radio shacks - both had plenty of them.
  17. i'm going to a RS in a few minutes. hopefully their in-stock status is true.
  18. Just an update... work continues on the new site. Here is a sneak preview: http://www.gottadeal.com/images/sneak.gif LOL. We can't give everything away just yet. A question for everyone: We currently have the last 50 deals on the front page of the site. What are your thoughts about that number? Should it be raised, lowered, stay the same? Should we go by time instead of number and have all the deals posted in the last X number of days/hours? Having less deals means the page will load faster, but (obviously) there will be less deals to browse on the page. We will be having "next page" links on all deal pages, so once you get to the bottom of the page, there will be a link to go to the previous batch of deals, all the way back to the beginning of the site. Thoughts???
  19. According to Pricegrabber, that additional $10 rebate is supposed to be only from purchases from DataVision.com. Although it doesn't mention that on the rebate form. Of course it doesn't hurt to try as the RadioShack rebate only needs a copy of the UPC. You can send the original one for the $10 rebate. Because we don't know for sure if it is valid I didn't include that $10 in the post on the main page. We don't want people blaming us if the rebate doesn't go through :)
  20. The rebate does require you to activate the regular TiVo service at $12.95 per month, at least until they process the rebate, so there is some added cost in doing that. Plus the possibility that you'll become addicted to the "Plus" level of service and won't want to go back to the free "Basic" service :) The rebate says it is valid for new or "certified factory renewed". The one at OS is "factory reconditioned", so I'd guess that it is the same and you will get the rebate. More rebate info at: http://www.tivorebates.com
  21. The price keeps dropping on this. $198 for a DVD player and TiVo Series2 DVR with free TiVo Basic service - can't beat that :)
  22. They weren't getting the sales they wanted, so they lowered the minimum: Coupon code: QFXMMKFKQJGB20 - Save $300 on any Dimension Desktop purchase of $899 or more. Coupon expires 3/15/05 at 5:59 am CT.
  23. Actually these are for Dell Home
