That is true, which is why pretty much all deal forums are open to lurkers. The Lounge here is semi-private (around 900 people can see it) and when Black Friday comes, that entire section is going to only be available to members, which really will increase the member count. The way I look at it, even if you make someone register to view threads, if they don't want to post, they won't post anyway, and if they want to post, they would have registered already. We have the bandwidth, etc... to allow lurkers to view things, so there is no reason to change that right now.

Yes it is, and running sites like this is my full-time job. So while there aren't many financial expenses such as hosting to run a site like this, there is a huge time committment.

We make money through commissions from things you guys buy through the site. So if there is a deal at Amazon for example, and someone clicks that link and places an order, we get a small percentage of that back. You pay nothing more for your purchase, we don't have to charge anything or have annoying ads, so everyone wins :)

I think if you look closely at the seller's feedback it would be a good start. If they sell a lot of them and haven't had anyone claim they were fakes, it's a pretty good bet that they are legit. If someone was selling fakes, I would think they would have been caught by now.

Well the $49 upgrade also includes an upgrade to the Intel PRO 3945 WiFi, which they charge $29 for by itself. Don't know if that would make a difference to 99% of the people who would use a laptop like this though. Both the standard WiFi and the upgraded one support .11b/g, so unless you are going to use .11a, there probably isn't a reason.

I've been seeing "one day only" everywhere that I've seen the deal so I assume it is only for today. I think it's a very nice deal for anyone looking for a laptop. The 1GB ram and 80GB HD is very nice considering the usual is 512MB/60GB for these deals. I'd suggest upgrading the LCD for $100, and getting one of the 2 video card upgrades, but other than that (and maybe the WiFi/Bluetooth) I don't know if I'd upgrade anything else.

Reviews seem to be very positive. I think it's one of the older models.

I actually bought one of these for my sister. Don't know how much she has used it since.

Target.com has some fairly new coupons. Obviously the 10% off will save you at least the same if not a lot more as the other coupons, so I don't know why they bothered with those unless you can only use the 10% off once, but here they are.
