  1. I don't really want to have too many of those. Post icons are supposed to be used only in certain situations - questions, important notices, etc... and if every thread has a different icon, the more important threads (such as site updates, etc...) might get lost. But we'll think about it :)
  2. You should have posted it :) We need more tech-related deals here on the forum. It's still a nice deal considering I paid about $200 for my Fusion "Lite" card about a year and it didn't even come with the antenna. Considering what OTA HD set top boxes cost, $99 for the lite version is a pretty good deal.
  3. The main differences between the $99 Lite and $149 Gold versions is that the Gold includes a remote and has the ability to compress the HD signal into DivX/DVD formats, which may or may not be useful. If you are using WinXP Media Center, that doesn't matter at all since MCE doesn't do any compressing anyway, and you'd probably want to use a regular MCE remote. So basically if you are getting this to use with MCE, you are better off getting the Lite in most cases, but if you are going to use it with another software package, you might want the Gold version. The USB version is good for laptops or machines with no free PCI slots (or no PCI slots altogether)
  4. SageTV does: http://www.sagetv.com/requirements.html?sageSub=tv Haven't found anything for MythTV yet, but I'd imagine it would work, but it might require some tweaking.
  5. RossMAN was interested in the remote deal and I told him last night to get a coupon right away as I figured they would be gone quick, and if anyone has them left, they are going to want $7-10 probably if they know the demand is there.
  6. http://store.snapstream.com/tvtunercards-hdtv.html All are $45 off the regular prices: Lite PCI card, antenna & cable - $99 Gold PCI card, remote, antenna & cable - $149 USB adapter, remote, antenna & cable - $149 Works with MCE 2005 and BeyondTV 4.
  7. Yeah that Harmony remote deal today is clearing out eBay. Last night there were only like 5 of those coupons on eBay, and once word of the remote deal got out, they were gone. A few other deals using them as well. I think I have a $35 off $300 coupon left, but none of the smaller ones.
  8. I don't have any links that I can find. I know Mel K. mentioned a couple months ago at a presentation that it was something they were considering. I'd imagine XM would match the price increase after a few months. I can't really see either company going above $15. As for the hardware situation, Delphi really has nothing to do with it. Their bankruptcy problems are more related to their auto parts business - their technology divisions are basically unaffected. XM has their own R&D department (Sirius outsources their stuff) which designs the hardware. For example the current portable units - Delphi, Pioneer and Tao all make them but the underlying hardware and software is basically the same. Same thing for the upcoming MP3 units from Samsung and Pioneer. The companies basically just manufacture them and market them - not much of the design is done outside of XM itself. I don't agree about the long term deals. I really don't think either company will be out of business anytime in the next 2 years, and I know that at least with XM (and probably SIRI) that if you cancel any long term plan you get a pro-rated refund. If either company were to go out of business there would be warning signs and you can easily cancel. I signed up for a 2 year deal with XM a year ago before they raised rates and currently pay about $8/month for the base sub and then there are 3 other radios in the family plan for the $7/month. For anyone considering either. both companies let you get free trials of their online streams to get an idea of the kind of programming each has. If you do your research online you'll find there are a lot of fiercely devoted subscribers of each service that constantly butt heads, not to mention the Howard/O&A battle, so it's usually better to get firsthand experience rather than rely on what people online say.
  9. They both have nearly the same amount of channels - both music (around 70) and non-music (another 90 or so including news, sports, talk, traffic, etc...). Both have various sports content deals - XM has MLB, NASCAR, PGA, some NCAA, NHL. Sirius has NFL, NHL, some NBA, some NCAA. Music programming is about equal - some prefer XM, some prefer Sirius. There are rumors that Sirius is going to be raising rates by $2/$3 per month, so that's something to consider. XM has much better hardware as their technology is about a year ahead of Sirius.
  10. The thing is, in the vast majority of cases doing the upgrades at Dell is a rip off. You are better off buying this machine as is (maybe upgrade the screen for $29) and then do the HD/RAM upgrades by yourself IF YOU NEED THEM (which most people will not, at least not right away). Sell the HD/RAM that comes with it and replace it with stuff you buy elsewhere for cheaper. The cost of your upgrades is much much less doing it that way. For example, they want $145 to upgrade to the 60GB 7200rpm model. You can get one of those for pretty much the same price elsewhere, so the upgrade isn't really worth it as for the same price you could get both. Same thing for the RAM. As for Lenovo, they are like the other companies. They want market share but they don't have deals to back it up. We get contacted by HP begging us to promote their offers like we do for Dell, but their offers don't sell. Simple as that.
  11. Now if only Dell would release a new 12" model with the Core Duo to replace my 700m :)
  12. I can also say that judging by the number of clickthroughs this deal is getting this morning, it is probably the most popular Dell laptop deal since those $379/$399 deals during Black Friday. Don't know if Dell will pull it, but if you are on the fence, I wouldn't wait too long.
  13. It's a very good deal, especially compared to the recent deals Dell has been having. Their next fiscal quarter doesn't end for another 6 weeks, so you could always wait, but their end-of-quarter deals have been lacking lately as well. In the "glory days" with the $750 off $1499 coupons, you'd get a deal similar to this one with a pretty loaded system for just over $700. This one has the new Core Duo chip which is nice as well. The "true" free shipping (without the annoying $24 handling fee) is also nice.
  14. Free (and almost worthless) Dell color printer also included. Also if you get a bunch of upgrades and your pre-rebate total is $1599, there are coupons on our Dell Coupon Page to save a few hundred more.
  15. Also if you "agree" to receive next year's book at regular price, they'll take off $5 for this year. A good idea is to use a one-time use credit card number if your card has them. That way they can't charge you for next years book. You can also just call them up and cancel the auto-renewal before next year as well. I've done the one-time use CC thing several times a year for the last 3 years or so with no problems.
  16. coupon no longer works, and it looks like some are having their orders cancelled.
  17. New items will be added when we have them. There is no schedule. Winners are always posted in a thread and notified via PM. If you win you'll know about it.
  18. I have the older Samsung ML-1710 laser and it's worked well for the last 3+ years I've had it. I've had success refilling the toner cartridges 1-2 times with the generic toner you can get on eBay or other sites. You don't want to refill it more than that, but I had the starter toner and refilled it twice for much less than one replacement toner would have been.
  19. There probably is a plugin for vB that does it, but the question of how it would impact the server performance would have to be looked at before we'd do it. There are other options we could consider for those types of threads as well, which we are also considering...
  20. You gotta wake up pretty early to get something past RossMAN, idiot spammer!
  21. You can also use one of my other sites, www.dealcube.com to find filler items in those categories :)
