  1. We have just finished upgrading the forum to the latest and greatest version of vBulletin. There are many new features in this version that you can take advantage of, and many more behind the scenes that will make our job running the forum much easier as well. You'll discover many of these features yourself as you use the forum, but in the meantime if you are interested, you can view the official list of changes on the vBulletin forum itself: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=186803 Some of the main new features that you may notice include: Multi-Quote - The much-requested multi-quote feature allows users to tag multiple posts that they wish to respond to by clicking a small button on each post. Once the user clicks the reply button, each tagged post is quoted. Mark Forums Read with AJAX - If you wish to mark a forum read, you can simply click its status icon on the index page and the change will be processed without a reload. You can even mark individual sub-forums as read in the same way. Quote Tags Link to Quoted Post - When quoting a post, the ID of the post is automatically included with the

  3. Excellent first post, sajib :) You might want to consider this deal: http://forums.gottadeal.com/showthread.php?t=46509 Upgrade the hard drive to 80GB and the combo drive to a DVD burner and your cost is $616 shipped. Has a Pentium M, 512MB RAM, 15" WXGA LCD and built-in WiFi.
  4. Cheaper Celeron CPU / 256MB RAM version for $448 here: http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?CS=19&kc=6V658&oc=D80804G
  5. A lot of nice deals with this one. Sale started yesterday, but they only updated the online prices this morning.
  6. Free SlingPlayer Mobile info: http://www.slingmedia.com/us/slingbox/slingplayermobile.php
  7. See: http://forums.gottadeal.com/showthread.php?t=104
  8. Pricegrabber listing for that model: http://gottadeal.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php/masterid=18864353/sort_type=bottomline I'd stay away from the first seller (Notebook for Less) but DataVis for $1,024.99 is a good deal. I checked a few other places and couldn't find it any cheaper right now, so unless you can wait, that would probably be your best bet.
  9. Not quite the model you're looking for, but this is a pretty nice deal: http://forums.gottadeal.com/showthread.php?t=46072
  10. I would also check the refurbished models at Overstock.com and Geeks.com. Their selection constantly changes, but you should be able to get several models for $400 or less, all of which would do what you need it to do.
  11. Nice! It wouldn't let me do all 3 last night. I'll have to update the deal on the main site.
  12. Also, just to distinguish them (besides being posted by GottaDeal), they will have the little GD icon next to them:
  13. Just a note to say that the discussion threads for deals posted on the main site are now going to be placed in this forum. The existing "Daily Deals" board has been closed and all existing threads moved here. Those deals will always be posted by the mysterious "GottaDeal" user So now you'll have just one forum to check for all the online hot deals on the forum :)
  14. This week's coupon only applies f you are customizing one of these E-Value codes: 6VAFF-DE510SAP, 6VAFF-DE51F2, 6VAFF-DE51F4 (which are only Dimension E510 systems). You would enter the code in your shopping cart once you have added the system to the cart after configuring.
  15. As some of you may know, the forums here have been around for well over 2 years and up until now RossMAN and myself have pretty much handled all the administration and moderation ourselves. However we are very close to the Black Friday forum opening up again this year, and we are already seeing an increase in new registrations in advance of that. And with the site growing still, we are increasingly being targeted by spammers looking to use our success for their benefit. And the fact is, it's just going to get crazier, so we have to be prepared for that reality. Even after Black Friday this year, we are going to have many more active members. Enjoy this "quiet" time while we still have it, because there are only a few weeks of it remaining. So after a significant amount of discussion and consideration, we have decided to take a two-tiered approach to this situation. First we have selected our first ever site-wide forum moderators who will have a permanent role in keeping things running smoothly here on the forum, through Black Friday and beyond. Second, we are also very excited to announce our first class of Black Friday forum moderators. These members will assist with keeping the forum organized and running smoothly through the end of November. The two new site-wide moderators on the forum, effective immediately, are Scott and USC Becca. Both of these long-time members have been extremely helpful in the past with things such as making suggestions about ways to improve the forum, reporting posts when they've noticed things that should be fixed and other behind-the-scenes contributions that have helped us significantly. Our first class of Black Friday forum moderators consists of the following members: Aaron, i-bystander, Marcster, mrn8 and noehlp. Their moderating duties will begin officially when the Black Friday forum opens. As with Scott and USC Becca, these members have shown that they are dedicated to making the forum a great place and have expressed that they would be more than willing to take on these added responsibilities for the time they are needed. They were around for Black Friday last year and contributed in many ways, both on the forum and behind the scenes, and so we're grateful to have them officially help this year. To help make it clear to the many new members we'll have very shortly, you will notice that the usernames for the admins (RossMAN and myself) as well as all of the new moderators will have different colors to distinguish the different groups. That will allow our new members to quickly find someone to contact should the need arise. A few other things to mention: for those of you who are anxiously waiting for it, the Black Friday site will be opening sometime in September, and the forum will also be opening at the same time with some big changes for this year, so be on the lookout for that. Also, as I mentioned in my previous announcement to you all, signatures on the forum will be disabled shortly before the Black Friday forum opens to make the forum load faster and have a cleaner look. And finally, we have recently added a new GottaDeal-Approved Referrals subforum. From now on, the only referrals allowed on the board will be those for programs which we have pre-approved and have a thread for in that forum. So I hope you all will join RossMAN and myself in congratulating our new moderators and welcoming them to their new roles here on the forum. They are going to be dedicating some of their valuable personal time to making the forum better for everyone, and we are extremely appreciative to them for it. :)
  16. That isn't necessary until the thread gets significantly longer than it is :)
  17. This was posted about 2 months ago as well. Probably too early to take it seriously just yet.
  18. We get credit when someone registers as well as a percentage of the fees eBay collects if you bid on something (or use Buy it Now) and actually win the auction. If you bid on something but dont win, we don't receive anything from what I remember. Hope this helps.
  19. Usually they can't do discounts on media (books/music/movies/video games), but if you ask nicely, maybe Chris will make an exception
  20. Excellent list. We'll probably borrow it (and add some more terms to it) for all the new Black Friday visitors in a couple months.
  21. I would say it's feasible. As you suggested it would likely have to be disabled while the BF site is running, and considering that the BF site and forums will be open in less than two months, it's something that probably wouldn't happen until early next year. It's one of those things where we have to decide if enough people will use it to justify the work involved to set it up. For example, on the main site when we added the user customization stuff well over a year ago for changing how things are displayed, etc... so far barely over 100 users have used it out of the thousands of daily visitors we have to the main site. In fact those options will most likely be removed from the next site design just to make things a little more efficient in terms of the coding. So we'll think about it :)
  22. I think I remember reading that Costco offers one day "browse" passes which let you look around but won't let you actually buy anything. This was a few months ago so I don't know if it has changed.
